If it's in recovery mode, the data is already gone. Why did you never back up your important data?

I can no longer (since upgrading to the latest firefox) open up multiple tabs of the same page (something I need to be able to do when emailing and referencing multiple emails while writing one email). The only option it gives me is to 'switch to tab'.

I'll try to make this clear. I USED to be able to left click on a hyper link and the hyper link would open in a NEW tab. Now for some unknown reason the hyper link by default opens in the same tab (window). I have to right click the hyper link in order for it to open in a NEW tab. (Yes, my 'tools'> 'options'> 'tabs' are set to "open new windows in a new tab." (Please no answers telling me to get rid of the Ask toolbar because I don't have one.) Thank you.

There's an article that Apple has acknowledged this issue. They recommend turning off imessages, reset all settings and then reactivate imessages.
If that doesn't work, you may just have to wait until they release an update, which should be pretty soon.

Note that the rescue email address is not on the "Name, ID and Email Address" page -- you need to click on "Password and Security" on the left side. Even after you do that, it may or may not be available. Tried installing latest iTunes (10.5.3.3). During installation received error message asking to verify access to "C:\Config.Msi\187e500.rbf". The only option it gives is "try again" or "cancel". No choice but to cancel installation. Any suggestions?

The problem started when my current iTunes kept popping up a window stating that my Auto Run was turned off. (which means iTunes will not be able to recognize when a CD is inserted or ejected). It asked if I wanted iTunes to run Auto Run and I select Yes every time (this window pops up every time I open my iTunes), but a second window pops up stating iTunes cannot turn on my Auto Run setting (but it will still be able to recognize CDs) to which I choose okay. A third window pops up after stating that iTunes was not properly installed and if I wish to import or burn CDs I need to re-install iTunes, except that I can import CDs since I did this only yesterday and this problem has been going on at least a month.
To add to this, I cannot cannot automatically update to version 10.5.3. (I don't recall which problem came first, my Auto Run problem or the fact that my iTunes can't update). iTunes suggested that I manually install the update, so I went to the apple site and tried manually installing the latest iTunes (10.5.3). I tried hitting Try again a few times but the same error message popped up, so I had no choice but to cancel the installation. I should have posted this earlier, but anyway. I restored my laptop to factory version after backing up any useful data, and the first thing I the laptop was restored was connect to the internet, download and install the latest version of iTunes. And Bingo! It worked.

In order to have an iCloud account available for the Messages application it must first be set up in System Preferences > Internet Accounts. If this is a second (or later) iCloud account, it will not have Messages available. See this article for details -

at the end, you say "import preferences", which program are you describing?
So im safer using footage that is remotely being pulled from iphoto...

using footage that is imported into FCP from imovie?
Is there anything i can do in fcp to make this footage more reliable or safer or more stable as i pull remotely from iphoto?

Ok, I seem to have sorted it. I pressed the restore new iphone instead of restore my own iphone and it all seems to have gone back on. Phew!

The usual cause of that issue is a corrupted or missing font that Firefox replaces by another, in this case a bold, font.
As a test you can try to disable the default font and choose a few different fonts (Arial, Verdana, Tahoma, Times New Roman) to see if you can identify the culprit.<br />
you will have to reinstall that corrupted font.

Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' to find out what Library is in question. Use the 'Create Library' option to make a new one.
To try and repair the damaged one:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
