TS3899 Hotmail account not working in iPhone 5 mail app

At first I thought it was a COS, College of the Sequoias, as in the college I'm going to, Hotmail situation BUT it turns out it's a Hotmail in general situation because my other Hotmail account doesn't show my inbox or sent mail at all. I sent up my Hotmail account properly, go to it on the mail app, click on it and the inbox is empty. So is the sent box. Go to hotmail on the browser..there's all my mail! Just not in my Hotmail account in the mail app! I tried to set my Hotmail account on Jennifer's iPhone 4S.. No luck. Same thing happened when I tried on mum's iPad!
The strange thing is my COS hotmail account WAS set up on their BEFORE then iOS6 update just flawlessly. I get my iPhone 5 and decide to delete my email accounts from the iPad now that I have my phone. When hotmail decided to go all wonky I tried resynchronize my COS hotmail on the iPad again because I know it worked there. But I had updated the software since then. Thus it not working now!
My gmail and yahoo accounts are working flawlessly on my mail app however the Hotmail..not so much! I've been doing some research on the net..could the update be the problem?? If so, I can't wait for the iOS 7 software update!

Same here. I, too, have tried everything, including removing and re-adding the Hotmail account and SMTP servers, rebooting, you name it. Some folders seem to sync sometimes, but some do not ever. The main inbox does not sync at all. In addition, the problem seems to be strictly with Apple Mail on my iMac and MacBook Pro. The issue does not occur on my iPhone 6 or iPad Mini. I was very pleased with Apple Mail until now.

I've realised over the last few days that I've not been getting emails on my iPhone, they do still come through on my Mac. I read a few threads that seem to put it down to the new IOS upgrade, but I can't remember when I upgraded to IOS 8.3 and when the emails stopped coming, but it does seem quite coincidental.
I thought I delete the accounts on my iphone but it won't let me, it just keeps hanging with the screen showing deleting, but it doesn't delete. I have to force a quit out of settings to get out of the screen.
I also tried sending an email from each account to see if it would work but it also hangs on sending at the bottom of the screen.
My iPhone 6 is only a few weeks old and I'm not sure what I'm meant to do now. Why can I not delete the email accounts? Why has my iPhone stopped sending and receiving them?

I am having real problems with my hotmail account not working on my IMac but works absolutely fine on my Iphone 5. Can anyone help with the setup for iMac. I am with BT for my Broadband. I am cionverned if I route my Hotmail accoutn to GMail will iy stop working on my Ipone.

How are you accessing Hotmail? Via your web browser? Are you using Apple Mail? Outlook?
The answer will be different depending on how you want to access Hotmail.
If you are using an email client (like Apple Mail, Outlook, Entourage, etc.)) then you need to set up a mail account in your email software.
The incoming Hotmail settings are these:
Incoming server: pop3.live.com
User name: Your full Hotmail email address (aka "me @ hotmail.com" or "me @ live.com")
Password: Your Hotmail password
POP port: 995
Use SSL to connect : yes
The outgoing Hotmail settings are:
Outgoing server: smtp.live.com
User name: Your full Hotmail email address
Password: Your Hotmail password
SMTP port: 587 (override the default port if necesssary)
Use SSL to connect : yes

Hotmail account not working on Yosemite's Mail app

I've tried everything I've found on the internet so far trying to get my hotmail account to work the way it was before my update to Yosemite, with no success. A few days ago it stopped syncing messages properly, and now it just shows them as downloading but it never finishes the syncing.
I even left it working overnight with the mail app open, nothing else, prevented from going to sleep mode or shutting down, and it kind of worked, downloading some of the messages that were pending, but others just won't do it no matter what. I've tried Deleting the Account, restarting and Adding it again, also tried changing the imap server information to different options I've found, no difference.
I also tried Outlook for Mac with all my accounts, and the hotmail account seemed to work better which means the problem is between Mac Mail and the Hotmail account itself. The problem is I don't want to use Outlook for Mac because showed other problems with my Gmail accounts, which renders it unsuitable to handle all my mail accounts. Apple Mail was flawless until my update to Yosemite, not cool.
Does anybody have the same issue?

One of my POP mail accounts is suddenly not working - I click on the inbox and it shuts down. Any suggestions?

Try these as needed:
1. Reset phone - press both home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears.
2. Delete and reinstall the account
3. Restore phone in iTunes using a backup
4. Restore as a new iPhone

Mail with Hotmail account not working.

I use my Hotmail from the Mail app and days ago it requested me my password again so I typed it CORRECTLY and it doesnt logs in, it keeps saying me "The Hotmail POP server “pop3.live.com” rejected the password for user "[email protected]" "
I already tried logging in from the web page and it works perfectly fine with the same password.
What is the problem? Someone help !

you're password is too long, for some reason mail tends to do weird stuff if your password is too long, i had the same issue and changing the password to something shorter worked (using 10 characters now)

Hotmail not working in the Mail app

I've got a iPad 3G. The Hotmail worked fine for the first few days in the Mail app but it's not working any more. It does not sync. The 'Checking for Mail' keeps on running but no message is downloaded. I've deleted and recreated the account, I've disabled and enabled it, and tried other things that I could think off. Nada.
I have a iPhone 3G on which the hotmail works just fine with the Mail app. Exact same settings on the iPad don't work at all. Any clues? I know it's not the Hotmail server because the iPhone wouldn't work in that case. I know it's not the WiFi or 3G server that's blocking server access because the iPhone can access the mail while being on the same network.
Any ideas?

Well ... turns out all it needed was a reboot
Sorry for the post. After two days of debugging - it never occurred to me that I should simply reboot the f*er. All is well after rebooting. Thanks anyway.

Mbox hotmail account not working

I have just completed the latest software download on my iPhone and now I can't use my mbox hotmail account. Not able to get or send any emails. Can anyone help?

I just checked my two hotmail accounts and they work fine. I actually had not used them in probably a year, so I had to set them up in MAIL. (Hotmail seems to attract a lot of spam) No problems here.
One thing that sometimes helps when there's a corruption of some sort is to delete the account (but back up your e-mail first) and then set it up again from scratch.
I had a big problem with the Keychain about a year ago. It was really corrupted bad. I forget what I finally did to correct the situation, but I believe there is a Tech support article on this very subject on Apple's web site.

Has anyone gotten their Hotmail account to work on iPhone?

I'm trying to use my hotmail address for my mail feature, but I don't know what the incoming/outgoing host names are supposed to be, and I don't know if I'm supposed to use IMAP, POP, or Exchange. Help, please!!

I looked into this some. Turns out that hotmail does not support pop3 and imap email clients. Reason being that the greedy corporate fools want you to access your inbox through a web client in order to spit advertisements at you. Thier is a non-comissoned program called Hotpop that you can run on your PC (must always he on and connected for this to work) but it is too much of a hassel of you ask me. Your best bet is to move over to gmail or yahoo mail that do provide these services (and a lot more storage space)

Currently having an issue with my me email account on my new iPhone 5s. I restored from an iPhone 5 backup a few months ago when setting up my new phone and I can't seem to get my emails or calendar working for my me account. It still works fine on my ipad though so I don't believe it is down to the account itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you :)

Hotmail/Outlook Not Syncing with iPhone Mail Correctly

Here's the situation; I have a Hotmail account that I use almost exclusively with Outlook 2010 and iPhone (don't often access via Hotmail.com, if that matters). I keep my Inbox in Outlook fairly "clean" and regularly delete and organize emails I want to keep, by moving them from my Hotmail Inbox to locally stored folders.
My problem is; while the emails are apparently "off the server" -- in other words, they no longer appear in the Inbox in Outlook nor when accessed via Hotmail.com, they DO still appear in my iPhone Mail Inbox.
Is there anyway to get Mail to recognize that these messages are no longer on the server and should no longer appear in my Inbox?

Image hyperlink not working in iphone mail

Hello,
I have created an HTML email and have sent it using Outlook from a Windows PC. The HTML email contains a JPEG that has a hyperlink assigned to it. When I check my email on my iphone and touch the JPEG, it wants to download the image, but does not click to the URL. An Android phone works fine. Any suggestions as to why this is happening?
Here's a snippet of the code involved:

I discovered this only happens in the iPhone email app when using embedded images. If the images are embedded the iPhone wants to save the image when you click on it. If the images are not embedded (i.e. somewhere on the internet) then the links work fine when clicking on the image. HTH

ITunes account not working with iPhone

Wasn't even sure what to call the subject on this. When I first got my iPhone, iTunes worked fine, getting apps, and whatever purchases. Then I did a reset, and it stopped working. Also, my computers were stolen, and I had to get a new MBP, and hence reset my iTunes password. So on the iPhone, it lets me sign on, but then says my settings have changed, and I'm directed to another log in window. Then it says there's a problem with my payment settings, (paypal not supported), and to go to my computer to reset this. I'm so confused! I have a CC on file on the computer, not PayPal. How on earth do I get the phone to sync with my computer, and have them working the same?

Mail not sent from iphone mail app

I tried to send a mail through the mail app through my gmail account. Was shocked that the mail was not sent nor I can find it in any of "sent" or "draft" boxes. And the very disappointing thing about this problem is that there was no errors, and I just knew about 12 hours later from the expected recipient that he did not receive my mail.

I hate iOS 7, thus I mat start to hate iPhone and Apple.

Has the Mobile Me account been set up on your iPhone as POP rather than IMAP? If it has been set up as POP then any message sent will not be mirrored. Your Mobile Me account should also be configured as IMAP on all your devices in order to see those messages in your Sent Items folder.
The idea of IMAP is to be device independent such that whatever you do is mirrored on all your devices as they each synchronize with Mobile Me. I suppose you could view the Mobile Me "cloud" as being the main repository. If you delete a message from your Inbox via your iPhone, the next time you connect your Mac that message will not appear in the associated Inbox in Mail.
Does that make sense?

I just switched from my iPhone 5 to a new iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.1.2. After I put the latest backup to the new device everything was set up fine. Unfortunately Google Mail doesn't work with the Apple Mail App any more.
I have two factor identification switched on and use the 16 digit long password which I set up with my Google account. The configuration details work (login, password, server details), the account is accepted, no notifications tell me that anything is wrong. The thing is, that the Apple Mail App doesn't show any mails. Also it's impossible to send any emails. The strange thing is, that the GMail App works fine.
I really tried everything: deleted the account setup, changed mail server from m.google.com to smtp.google.com, set up a new app specific password through two factor identification... no emails appear!
With my iPhone 5 I was a lucky user of push email, thanks to Microsoft ActiveSync. So I keep trying to configure the GMail account as an Exchange account (I know that Google switched off ActiveSync some time ago, until now everything worked fine with my iPhone 5, even push mail worked!).
Does anyone of you know how to solve the problem? I don't like the GMail App and really prefer using the iOS Mail App..
