  • Do you have to turn cellular data on to receive photo attachments by text?

Do you have to turn on cellular data on iPhone 5 in order to receive photo attachments sent by text?

I never turn off cellular on the phone - the phone function is still the primary use for me and there are some data sevices I prefer to keep on at al times. You can restrict some functions from using cellular however: Settings App > General > Cellular > and set as needed in the Use Cellular Data for section. Aslo Check location services and turn off those apps you really don't need location services for.
But ultimately I agree with pdrith. Monotor your cellular data (your provider may even have an app to do that - Verizon in the US does), and based on your plan make a decision about how much you need to worry about it.

  • IPhone 5 not receiving photo messages

Help? My iPhone 5 is not receiving photo messages. Anyone trying to send me photos just gets the exclamation point. When I send photos they go through just fine. iMessage, SMS, MMS and Group Messaging are all switched on. This only started happening a few days ago and I have not recently changed any settings or downloaded an update. Advice?

    Hello ,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Please follow the troubleshooting steps to fix this issue of not being able to receive MMS.
To resolve issues with sending and receiving MMS, follow these steps
Go to Settings and turn airplane mode off.
Go to Settings > Messages and turn MMS Messaging on.
Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Cellular Data on.
Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Data Roaming on if you're roaming on a cellular provider network that is different from your billing provider's network.
Make sure that you have a cellular data connection in the status bar of your iPhone.
Go to Settings and turn Wi-Fi off. Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify that you have a data connection. Turn Wi-Fi back on to continue using Wi-Fi for other features. If your cellular data connection isn't available, follow these steps.
Make sure that you can send and receive SMS. If you can't send and receive SMS, see the "Issues with sending and receiving SMS" section, above. MMS might not be available while you're on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn more about which network your phone supports.
    Restart your iPhone.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
Remove your SIM card and insert it again.
If you still can't send or receive MMS, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Go to Settings > Messages and turn on group messaging if you're sending a group message.
Make sure that you're using the area code with the contact's phone number. When you send messages internationally, you also need the contact's international code.
If you're using a "Pay as you go" MMS plan, make sure it has enough available balance. If you're unsure of your MMS plan or available balance, contact your carrier.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact from the Contacts app. Send a new message to the new contact.
Back up and restore your iPhone as new.
If your carrier has recently ported your phone number, the porting process might not be complete. Contact your carrier to confirm that the porting process is complete.
Contact your carrier to verify that you're provisioned to send SMS and are in an area with cellular coverage.
Contact your carrier to verify that there aren't blocks or filters on your wireless account preventing you from sending SMS.
Your carrier might require modified APN settings to use MMS.

  • People not receiving photos

Why are people not receiving photos sent from my ipad

Do you have some sort of small size limit on emails that is imposed by your email provider? All providers have a size limit of some sort, but I don't know of any that would be so limited that you couldn't send a photo.
I wish that I could think of something a bit more specific that could be causing this, but try some really basic troubleshooting steps like closing all apps and reset your iPad. You won't lose any data if you do this. I am assuming that you are running at least iOS 7.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Since I have updated my iOS to iOS 7 I'm unable to save the photo attachments from email. It this a bug? Please look into the issue.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • I do not receive notifications for my email account even though the email setting in Notifications is turned on. How can I fix this?

In iOS 5 I do not receive notifications for my email account even though  the email setting in Notifications is turned on. I do receive other notifications. Does anyone have any suggestion on what is wrong or how I should correct it? Thanks.

    Hey M0904,
I found the following information regarding troubleshooting notifications, I'd run through them and see if they resolve the issue:
    iOS: Understanding Notifications
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3576
    Troubleshooting notifications
Push notifications require an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection. If you are not receiving notifications for a specific app, try these steps:
Verify that the app supports notifications.
After installing an app or restoring a backup to a different iOS device, open the app at least once to begin receiving notifications.
If the app requires entering or logging in to an account, you will need to do this before receiving notifications.
Check Settings > Notifications to ensure that the app is configured for notifications.
If notifications do not appear only in the Notification Center, verify that the Notification Center setting for the app is enabled.
If you are still unable to receive notifications and you are using a Wi-Fi connection, verify that the network or firewall is not blocking access to port 5223.
    Have a good one,
    David

  • I do not receive Apple ID verification email

I do not receive Apple ID verification email, I have updated my password but the verification email from Apple just doesn't arrive - is there another way to verify?

I followed the chain of messages above trying to find a solution. I have the same problem. I'm syncing my iPhone 5 to iTunes and keep getting messages about all the content that will not sync because "not authorized." So I try to login to my Apple ID
    - password is wrong
    - try reset password
    - chose "send email" but no email arrives (I even check 'junk' folder to be sure)
    - go back to reset password and try "Answer security questions"
    - says my DoB is wrong but I'm sure it's not wrong
So what is the solution? Re-purchase all the content that won't sync?

  • I am not receiving allof my comcast emails on my iphone.  I have reset my email 5 times.

I have reset my phone/email account numerous times and still do not receive all of my emails.  Is there something else I should be doing?

Since Comcast is a POP account, when you retreive emails from the server they are automatically deleted, making them unavailable for other devices to retreive them.  This is the normal behavior of POP accounts unless you change your settings to keep message on the incoming server.  If you are checking your Comcast email on your computer without changing this setting, it may be removing the emails from the server, making them unavailable for your phone to retreive them.  On your phone, go to the settings for your Comcast account under Advanced>Incoming Settings>Delete from Server, set to Never.  You will need to find the similar setting on the email client you use on your computer.

  • Recipients not receiving identical attachments

On a daily basis, my server-side Java application sends email to various recipients in a single send operation. The emails have a comma-separated values (.csv) file attached of about 126 kB. The strange thing that happens is that some of the recipients have the numbers messed up like 1..5848 instead of 1.5848. Only a few out of thousands of numbers have a decimal symbol that is printed twice, but that is of course enough to break automatic processing.
How can it be possible that the recipients do not receive identical files? Only 1 file is generated and it is sent in a single send operation. If I turn debugging on, I see that the Content-Type of the attachment is application/octet-stream, which seems wrong since I am sending a plain text file. However, adding "text/plain csv" to mime.types, as described in the JavaMail FAQ, does not solve the problem.
I do realize that this is a vague problemI don't have any error messages to show youbut perhaps someone has some hints for me where to start looking.

I have created a reproducible test case and selected two recipients: one that always fails and another one that doesn't experience the problem. That's very interesting. If you send the same message
to two different recipients, and one experiences the
problem but the other one doesn't, that means it's
very unlikely that the problem is in the SMTP communication
with the server. (Unless you're sending two separate
messages to two different recipients. If there's a bug
on the JavaMail side, it's almost certainly very dependent
on the exact size of the message, including the headers.)
The only trace I have so far is the output of mail.debug=true, which displays the content of the attachment correctly, but you are referring to something else? No, that's it.
By the way, if I change the list separator into a semicolon (instead of a comma) and the decimal symbol into a comma (instead of a dot), then both recipients do receive identical attachments.Which pretty much confirms that some software
somewhere has a bug with handling the "." at the
beginning of the line in the SMTP or POP3 communication.
After you send the message, how do the two different
recipients read the message? Is JavaMail involved
    in either case?

  • Not receiving photos on ipad 3 from iphone 4s

Just wondering if someone has the same problem of not being able to receive photos from Photostream from iphone to the ipad.  Mine was working but has notwstopped.  Tried resetting and other stuff. but still not working.

    Hi,
It does seem at times the iPhone loses it's "Registration" of the iPhone Number to the iMessages Server.
Get the User to Check their iPhone > Settings > Messages.
    The app should be ON.
The Apple ID should be present.
The Send and Receive should then list both the iPhone Number and Apple ID as ticked items (the phone number will be greyed out)
I have had the iPhone number appear greyed out like it should be but become Unticked (Inactive).
The the greyed out state means you cannot turn it On or Off manually this does seem strange.
The process if it is "un-registered" is to remove the Apple ID.
Place the iPhone in Airplane Mode to break with the servers.
After a few minutes take it out of Airplane Mode and go back to the Messages Settings.
The iPhone Number should be verifying.
Once that is complete re-add the Apple ID and then choose the "Start Conversations From" option.
If the Number is also missing from the Mac version Restart the Mac version and Accept the pop ups.

  • TS3899 I can not receive AT&T email on my iPhone after downloading iso6 any help. It worked fine on my iPad

My iPhone can not receive email after downloading iso 6 any help please. It worked fine on my iPad and I have checked all settings my iCloud acct works fine

Originally we were getting the error that the phone could not connect. Then, after deleting the account multiple times and re-adding it again, the error message CHANGED to having to log in to Yahoo and authorize.
When we went to Yahoo in a regular browser and logged in there was an alert telling us about connection attempts so it disabled mobile/iphone connectivity. It required that we change our password FIRST.
Then, we went in to Manage Apps and Webpages and saw that iPhone was not there but Facebook was.
After all of this went back to the phone and deleted then re-added the account again and SUCCESS!
It now also shows up on the Yahoo Manage Apps and Webpages.
Hope this helps someone else. Please consider giving me points if it does or like the post.
    Fred
