Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
You may have to re enter your Wi-Fi password.

Can send e-mails ok but can not receive e-mails on my I-phone 5. Everything is ok on my I-pad and my hisband's I-phone 4s. Both of us share the I-pad so I suspect the conflict may be in the account setup of the I-pone 5. any thoughts

On checking the phone settings for mail, the iCloud e-mail address is not there and the mail button is off.
When I switch it on, it isasking me to create an address to turn on iCloud. When I type in the iCloud address it states this email address is already taken, try picking a new one. This address should be ok as this was registered by myself with Apple. My internet provider emails are now coming in but not iCloud ones.Will ring Apple support on Monday morning.

My mac pro is not a duo processor so i cannot upgrade to LION and that means now with icloud i cannot receive email unless i go directly to icloud website to get it. i cannot afford to buy a new laptop, does that mean i will always have this inconvenienc

It's the System which counts rather than the hardware. Your signature says you have 10.6.8. You can migrate your MobileMe account to iCloud at http://me.com/move even with Snow Leopard - when asked to confirm that you have Lion on your Mac, just lie and say 'yes'.
If you have MobileMe mail set up to collect mail from external POP accounts you should cancel this before migrating, or you may find it still working in iCloud (where it isn't supposed to) and with no way of stopping it. You may find the MobileMe email settings will continue to work for a time after migrating but it will stop eventually so you should not rely on this. You should delete your MobileMe email account from Mail.
You can then set up Mail manually in Snow Leopard to access iCloud email; it's a slight fudge because the 'wizard' will attempt to connect you to MobileMe as soon as you enter an @me.com address. The process, which includes a workaround for this, is described here:

You may be able to sync your calendars to iCloud by means of an unsupported hack, and there is a convoluted hack which has been reported as working for Address Book (and as not working by others - I've not tried it), but iCloud's other facilities will not work. Soho Organizer can sync Calendars and Contacts with iCloud on Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion. A single user licence (multiple machines allowed) is $99.99.

Make sure you are checking the email address you used to set up your iCloud account. Check the spam/junk folder as well as the inbox. If it isn't there, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right click Resend under your Primary Email Address to resend the verification email.

Thanks -- I haven't gotten through to Optimum yet, but I suspect this issue is on their end. I've taken the following diagnostic measures, all with no success:
1) Reset modem and router
2) Plug computer directly into the modem, bypassing the router
3) Edit the /etc/hosts to force imap.mail.me.com to a server I know works from connecting to it on Time Warner Cable
I can confirm the iCloud services work just fine when I'm on 3G (turn WiFi off on your iPhone or iPad; or tether your mac to your iPhone).
Hopefully this gets resolved quickly - though I'm sure at this point Optimum is still likely to point the finger at Apple, who will (rightfully) point it right back at Optimum.

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)

I got touchsmart 300 with wind. 7 i can install about anything with it but cannot install games

game say there for windows 7, xp, etc, tried the program for older games but no luck it doesn,t even show in disk drive.

Have you tried installing the games from the disc? If they are not being shown when you explore the DVD drive in your computer, please try checking it on any other computer...sometimes the disc might be a faulty one.

I'll add that this can happen when snapshotting is used as a backup method. You can set max endpoints to 32 and still see the issue. Please ensure that you're backing up using the supported PowerShell commands: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh202170.aspx
and not just a snapshot of the VM. If raising max endpoints does not resolve the issue, try backing up with the management shell commands within a recurring scheduled task or try http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/Backup-script-for-Lync-2013-aacbb9b9
. Then disable the snapshot ting for your front ends, bounce them one at a time, and ensure the data exports you've made are backed up as flat files.
