TS3899 Mail probs

I am again having trouble retrieving my mail on my iPad.
I spoke with my ISP and they tell me they have had LOTS of iOS users having problems.
It would seem that when Apple do a background mail update some ISP's have problems.
I get the error message "unable to retrieve mail.server not responding.
The only way I could get it to work was delete my 2 mail accounts off my iPad mail settings
Then re-install. It all works fine now so it just goes to prove the problem is with Apple.
Come on guys sort it out!

I assume Apple technicians read this forum to judge feedback and user experiences.
I know when problems occur everyone will sling the mud.
However,it does seem coincidental,that when I deleted my mail accounts from my iPad then reinstalled them all works fine.
The changes I made are on my iPad and not the server, I also have 2 PoP accounts on the same server with no issues.
So in conclusion,the finger is pointing at Apple.
Incidentally,when I refer to a background update I do not mean an iOS update only Apple mail update.
They do these type of background (unknown to the user) updates quite frequently.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • TS3899 Mail going to wrong folder

    I have contact emails in my phone that are sending to my junk mail folder instead of my inbox.  One contact is even marked as VIP.  Can you help with this?

    I have gotten hostname as you suggested, and thus far seen one Helo failure prior to that, so thanks for the tip.
    The queue is running like 150k to 170k, I've got content filter off right in order to isolate problems.
    This wrong account issue is causing some severe creditability issues with this server as you can imagine.

    Can you access the account on another device?
    What error message are you getting?
    Are you sure the setting you entered are correct?
    I would Google for:
    setup XX email on iphone
    where XX is your provider.
    The delete the the account from the iPod and reenter the settings
    Safari does work on the iPod, right?

    Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)

    I am consistently not receiving emails from a specific address in my Apple Mail inbox, but I have no filters enabled and the emails are not showing up in my spam and trash folders. If I follow directions for retrieving an email header in Gmail, I am able to see the email, but this doesn't correct the problem! This problem seems to have surfaced spontaneously. What is going on?

  • TS3899 Mail usage, 570mb even though it's empty??

    Trying to save some space, have deleted all old messages and restarted, under usage, mail is biggest file : 570mb?? but nothing in there, any help to reduce it, thanks

    I attempted a reset, but to no avail. My last sentence basically means I only check my email on my Apple devices or from the Hotmail site. I don't use Outlook or any other program to check messages. I just wasn't sure if that would make a difference or not.

    After I read my mail, the red number indicating how many new emails I have won't go away. How can I get that to go away?

    No it changes as I delete emails from the inbox. It went away after like 40 the first time now it's at 32. It's only with one account I have set up on iPad.

    I am trying to run a servlet using mycgiserver.com.
    When i click my submit button on my html page i get this servlet error:
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: javax/mail/Session
    I don't understand how i can fix this.
    This is the line of code that is pointed out:

    My btinternet mail account no longer works on my ipad. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I receive a message saying that the server is unavailable

    Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • TS3899 Mail app loading portion of inbox content, well below amount set in Settings. It used to work fine.

    My iPad2 recently started loading only a small portion of the inbox content, well the 200 configured in the Settings menu. It has worked fine for a couple years until now. I have restarted the device, restarted the app. The gmail app is getting all mail content and has worked in conjuction with the mail app for several weeks.
    Any help is appreciated!

    I found the issue...a setting for the number of days to sync had gotten changed, limiting the amount of email that could load.

  • TS3899 Mail will not download in the other account in email says it is downloading but doesn't show its downloaded

    I had this problem before back in the end of November and all of December mail will stop loading and doesn't show up this in the account settings OTHER . I have deleted the account and reloaded it did a hard restart still the same it starts and says downloading but it doesn't show up on the phone this is doing the same thing on my ipad also . So one would think it is the server for my email account it is not because it works fine on my mack air and also the imac so I'm confused what would be the next step any ideas ?

    My ipad3 running IOS 6.1.X has the email application crashing multiple times a day. This started several weeks ago.
    Anyone else disgusted with this as well?

    Try force quitting the app.  Double tap the home button. you may need to scroll sideways to see the preview for the mail app. When you see it, flick that preview up and off the screen. Single tap the home button to exit the mode. Try your mail app again and see if it will stay open

  • TS3899 Mail on my iPad 2 suddenly will not download my inbox for one account.

    Mail on my iPad 2, iOS 8.3 suddenly will not download my inbox. I have two other accounts on the same provider (AT&T - Yahoo) with the same settings that work fine. The account will send mail OK. Sometimes it will return an error message "cannot connect to server" after a long time of the spinning wheel. It was doing this just prior to updating iOS 8.3 and still the same after updating.
    If I delete the account and re-add it, will I lose all my mail folders, the emails saved in them, contacts, calendar, etc.?
    Will a restore recover them at that point?
    Any ideas or suggestions?

    If you delete the account off the iPad you won't delete the info permanently, although you will delete it off your device. If you delete it off your iPad the data will come back when you re-add it.

    Are all your accounts yahoo? If so you may want to read the above posts. There have been issues with yahoo for quite some time now. People have said these fixes work, however I haven't tried any of them since mine is still working.
