  • Anyone else having trouble with the iPad cover? Mine just keeps falling off!

    The magnets in the cover appear to have become weak meaning that the cover just keeps Falling off after only having it for a few weeks! The magnets have also left horrible black marks on the back of the iPad!

    I have the SmartCover and have been using it for a month and feel confident in stating that it doesn't fall off or leave horrible black marks in normal use. If your's is doing either of these things, contact Apple for a replacement.

  • Why does my iPad mini keep shutting off every two seconds?

    Why does my iPad mini keep shutting off every two seconds?

    I doubt that anyone here can answer that question with any validity...
    That being said, try to reset the device:
    *Device reset*
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

  • My ipad keeps shutting off and cannot restart immediately

    please help, my ipad keeps shutting off for no reason and will not come back on again unti it is ready.  at least 5 times now very frustrating.
    any suggestions?

    Damien.
    First, try to do a full backup—reset—restore of your iPad via iTunes. (a) Plug in and, if it doen't start automatically, run iTunes, (b) back up your iPad, (c) do a total reset, (d) restore this last backup.
    If this is enough, just go ahead and do it.
    Otherwise, do like me — dummy — and read the excerpt from Apple's KB below:
    --- Quote
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
    (...)  You will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
    --- Unquote
    If this does not work, (and probably won't, but it's a 5-minute operation), then you should seek hardware assistance. If it's a brand (or almost) new iPad, go back to the shop and they will give you a new one, without much trouble... It use to happen with iPods and exchanging the product was routine in this shutoff—restart issue.

  • My Apple iPad 1 keeps shutting off when I open an app. It randomly closes when on social media as well. No longer able to read my Bible.

    My Apple iPad keeps shutting off when I open an app.  It randomly closes when on social media or online. Not able to view my Bible app.  Have tried rebooting, but it doesn't help.

    Then you may have to Restore your iPad from backup in iTunes?
    How much free space do you have left on your iPad?

  • IPad keeps shutting off

    My iPad 2 keeps shutting off and returning to sleep mode while I'm using it.  This happens frequently.  I reset it using the home button and restored it using itunes but nothing has changed.  What might be causing this issue

    Sounds definitely odd, worst case scenario you can call AppleCare and ask for a one time exception if you havent called before!
    They may have some more ideas.
    Not 100% knowledgable in iPad but I do suggest giving them a call.

    Is this with the power adaptor that was included with your iPad 2 purchase?
    The same power adaptor and USB dock connector cable charges your husband's iPad?
    If so, sounds like a hardware problem with the battery or something else. Have you tried powering the iPad off and on and/or a reset which is similar to a computer restart?
    If so with no change, make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

  • Just got 4s replaced. Now the sound keeps shutting off on this one.

    Just had my 4s replaced by Apple.  The sound on this 'new' phone keeps shutting off.  I can't turn it up or down yet settings show the sound is on.  I've rebooted several times and still nothing.

    Restore the phone as new.  If this doesn't solve the problem, bring the phone back.  Replacement phones have a 90 day warranty, or the duration of the original phone's warranty, whichever is longer.

    I Have the same issue on a brand new iPad mini 2. My battery is only lasting up to 5 hours. I went on chat with Apple last night and they said my battery is fine and its a Safari issue. I'm literally losing 1% every 3-4 minutes. I tried recalibrating my battery, signing out of iCloud, shutting off all locations, turning off background app refresh, restoring network settings, restoring all, and finally restoring from iTunes with no luck. This is just awful. I got this iPad so I could use it on my long flight for a trip I have coming up, and unfortunately, it's not going to last that long, plus I'm concerned about how many times i will be recharging my battery because of this since battery's do have a life cycle dependent on the number of charges. This is frustrating and needs to be fixed ASAP and addressed by Apple.
    By the way, Apple told me to bring my device to the Apple Store because it's still under warranty. That's great and all, but I'm going to waste my time if there is no fix for this issue.
    Ok so you want Apple to address the problem, but yet you don't want to take it to them just in case they can't fix it? What if they can fix it? Complaining here certainly won't fix it.

  • Rebel T3 keeps shutting off after few seconds of videoing

    I purchased a Rebel T3 for my daughter a few months ago.  We are having trouble getting it to video.  It keeps shutting off after a few seconds.  It has a clean class 10 - 32gb card in it.  Help please!  (we have used a couple different cards in it, they all do fine & take excellent photos, just MAJOR problem trying to use the video mode)  I have a T1i & have no trouble with the video on mine.

    The manual may state Class 6 as the minimum speed for reliable HD video capture, but that it is most definitely not the fastest card supported by the camera.
    The camera is able to take advantage of cards rated for speeds up to 45MB/s which should be at least 2x faster than the fastest Class 10 cards and about 4.5x faster than a Class 10 card operating at minimum spec of 10MB/s.  A Class 10 card is rated for minimum throughput of 10MB/s write speeds. So, it should be between 7-8x faster than a Class 6 card performing at it's specified minimum 6MB/s speed.
    So you really need to be looking at the write speed of the SD cards you buy.  But, this assumes that the SD card is the problem which it may not be.

  • My phone keeps shutting off

    my phone keep shutting off like its dying and the only way to get it to turn on is plug it into the charger? any solutions

    Howdy there shannirish,
    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
    It sounds like the phone just will not turn on unless the USB is plugged in and charging.
    I would start by resetting the phone and seeing if that helps.
    Resetting your device
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    From: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    If that does not resolve the issue, you may need to backup the phone to iTunes, and then restore the phone. iOS: How to back up and restore your content
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
    When you restore the phone, I would first just set it up as new, and not restore from your backup just yet. Test the issue first. If it does not persist, then restore the backup and see how it works.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
    Yes there is. Those songs are not actually on your iPad. They are in iCloud ready for download if you choose to do so. If you want to remove them go to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Show All>Music>Off. You can also do this in Settings>Music>Show All Music>Off.
