My iPhone 4s suddenly stopped receiving incoming mail. I am still able to send from my iPhone but not receive.My email is still coming through on the desktop, sending anbd receiving.

Thanks for the reply. The SMTP is the Outgoing , which is working. I cannot find the incoming settings though. Are there any? The settings were never changed by me, I think there has been a network change somewhere. AT&T or Apple. I have rebooted several times, and even did a restore. Same problem. The "checking email" and "last Updated xx/xx/xxxx" message at bottom of screen just constantly flashes on and off when I check email.
I can send email from my iPhone ok.

I have an iMac on OX Yosemite 10.10.2. (which I installed a couple of months ago no issues). I have two email accounts - Gmail and AOL. Both are installed and sync'd with the Mail application. However, for the past week, the inbox hasn't received any incoming emails from AOL, only Gmail. The account is shown as still there. I can still see the sent, trash, drafts, old received emails etc, just no inbox with new messages. I have checked the account settings and done the connection doctor troubleshooter - it says its all fine. However, when I click Mailbox and Get New Mail, the Gmail is black and the AOL is grey so I can't select it.
I have an iPhone which also has both accounts sync'd to it. No issues with that. I'm getting all emails as I should on the phone.
Can anyone give me a suggestion to get it back?

OK I've just tried that.
The inbox is there at the top of the left hand column, and it is showing all the inbox messages that I've not received on the iMac for the past two weeks, but that I did get through on my phone. So that's more than I had before.
However, new incoming mail that has been sent since deleting and re adding the account is not appearing. I've just sent a test email from the Gmail account to the AOL account and I can still see it sat in my outbox. Likewise, I know from my phone that I have been sent other emails since doing this, which have not appeared on the Mac.
I've ran connectivity doctor again and it still says that all connections are fine.
Any more ideas Eric?

Thats a tough one, I've gone through many transfers for my computers or friends computers, have only seen this one time. I can only make a couple suggestions of what I'd do not that its the "best practice" or anything like that but my best results ended up being a TimeMachine transfer but I do need to find out more info.
What OSX is running on your former machine and whats on your new machine?
When was the last time you used your Disk Utility to Repair Disk Permissions or Repair Disk on your old machine?
Its always a good idea to do the above steps and also make sure you're running the latest version of that particular OSX whatever that may be. I started using TimeMachine with an external USB drive which seemed to be the most productive for me but does have the same result if migrating from an older Mac.

Mac E-Mail Not Receiving Incoming Mail From ATT/Yahoo Mail Server

Recently "upgraded" to ATT U-verse. My Mac email client (3.6) suddenly not receiving incoming mail from the web-based ATT/Yahoo. Settings-all are correct: Telephone talk with Tier 1 and Tier 2 ATT reps confirmed "unusual" problem, and that the settings (ports, ssl, etc.) are indeed all correct. Tier 2 supervisor referred ticket (F23576784) to the brilliant minds at Yahoo for help. I've heard nothing for five days. Some emails do get received on my client, from (Apple, ATT, for example). Others languish on the web-based mail, with no push to my iMac. Tests of sending myself e-mails continue to confirm problem, with test emails sitting at Yahoo server, no push to my Mac client.
I am able to send e-mails successfully from client. Interestingly, a couple of incoming e-mails from friends did manage to slip through the lines and arrive in my Mac client a couple of days late. Brave little souls, they're not talking.
I've tried all sockets, all other settings possible, but no luck. Why is there no straight-forward answer to this proliferating problem? Odd e-mail behaviors? No documented or shared answers by the big outfits to Mac users? Mac mail virtually disabled and useless? Has anyone found a path to resolving the varied but similar problems in this area yet? Thanks in advance for any help offered beyond adjusting preferences over and over and over. That ain't working.

Geez, some emails are getting through, most are not forwarded to my client MacMail. They are also marked as read, which could mean that Yahoo is forwarding them somewhere...(?) Can't get ahold of Yahoo, ATT forwards me to Yahoo, Yahoo has no method of emailing real, technical questions, ATT supervisor actually called Apple and there is nothing wrong with the OS or my set up requirements.
Does anyone know a workaround for setting up smtp requirements? Can't switch email clients at this time, would take a lot of changing existing contact info for bizz.
At this point all I would like to know is, where is the problem? Why does a server (ATT/Yahoo) send some mail to my account, not send others, and marks all messages on the webmail as read? Thanks for the one response, I do believe the problem is some minor error set at the isp's server software for Macs, but who knows?

Essentially all the things I use my phone for have now stopped working. I constantly have 3G connected (even though i dont want to use it, i want to connect to the wifi in my house) but still when I try to download/ send a picture over whatsapp it comes up with an error message saying the server is unverified, or something equally ridiculous.
I deleted the app so i could reinstall it (as if that would help), but the app store is started saying "unable to connect", despite 3G, so that bright idea died out pretty sharpish.
Whenever i try to turn on iMessage, it asks for my Apple ID password, which I know I've typed in correctly because I reset the **** thing about 4 times due to it apparently being "incorrect". Even so, it repeatedly asks for the password over and over as soon as I've entered it, saying it was "unable to connect" before a final "incorrect password" message pops up just to add an extra smack of annoyance.
I haven't changed a single setting on my iPhone whatsoever. It just suddenly started spiralling into what is now £28/month-worth of pure frustration.
I don't even have any music or photos on it as I had to free up 3.5GB of space on the **** thing to allow it to update, naively thinking that would solve the problem, but alas it did not.
I have seen a few questions posted like this one, usually just one of the problems I have, but I seem to have rounded up the whole bunch (lucky me). None of the previously posted questions have received any replies.
Can some please help me! Honestly, if i see another "unable to..." or "unverified source" pop up again I'll probably smash the thing against the side of my house.

On your iPad, go to [Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings] Once that is done, re-connect your iPad to your wifi network.

Suddenly stopped receiver and can hear sound only through speaker phone or head phones. I followed diesel vdub's recommendations (Jan 8, 2013) replying to thopkins8's question, but non of them worked. Is this a possible hardware or OS issue?

My iphone 4s has suddenly stopped receiving texts sent from my husband's iphone 4s. I've never had a problem until a few days ago, and now nothing comes through from him.
He still gets my texts fine, and there's nothing at his end that shows that his aren't getting through to me.
I'm with Orange and he's with O2.

Ok, go to Messages- and swipe to delete the message conversation with your husband.
Next, go to Contacts. Find his contact card. IF you know his number, tap Edit, then Delete at the bottom. Now on the list of contacts tap the + button and Re-add him back into your contacts.
Send him a message. It should work.

Does it not work either way? Sending and receiving? Did you check the settings and make sure that nothing has changed? If you can receive email, but not send it, check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

Okay, one day a little less than a MONTH ago, my iphone 4 just stopped receiving calls(90% of the time) and making calls(50% of the time.). I panicked because my job depends on my phone to work. So, i go to apple, ATT, back to apple, back to ATT, etc. There is no end to this. The engineers at ATT said if i relocated and told them that i was moving, it would give me a new number and reset all the routing stuff. I didn't want to do this because of losing my number with business, but had to resort to it anyway. Now I have a number from a different state, and I still have the problem!!!!!!!!! I have exhausted all my options with apple and att, and both tell me the only thing i can do is buy a prepaid phone from a different service! I need my iphone for work, and this has been going on for over a month now. I was told there was a routing issue, but the engineers opened a ticket on it, and NO solution. Then they opened a second case ticket, and still no good. They are claiming I should cancel and buy a new phone. My phone just stopped recieving calls one day. No notification of missed calls, EVER since this started happening. Voicemails go thru( only some of them) about an hour or two later, and texts are taking a bit longer than usual. Did you set up restrictions for changing account info in Settings/General/Restrictions? If yes, disable them and try again to edit your mail account info.

Try different USB Cable, try different Charger. Clean iPhone charging port with clean dry toothbrush. If still problem and you have Warranty or AppleCare, make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution. If no coverage, most likely it could be battery or charging port assembly that need replacement.
