Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Honestly? In the US (I can't speak to other countries, though I doubt it works much differently in a lot of the world) The police took your report and filed it either in their computers or, on paper. They will now not think of this again. The only time it will cross anyones mind is if, in the course of entering information into evidence about items recovered or seized at a crime scene, the serial number of an iPhone that was found/seized happens to match yours, in which case you will be contacted.
The police in the US can and will do nothing to 'blok' the phone and it's not worth their time to try and locate it unless you know for a fact that it was stolen by a big time drug lord, master criminal, or some other such prime target and they can get a court order to track the location of the phone in order to locate this individual for your own purposes. If they do that, they'll probably keep him under surveilance for a year or so before they act.
Basically, the police don't care about your phone. If they find it, they will give it back to you. They are not, however, going to go looking for it. They have better things to do.

You can't do anything. You have encountered the activation lock. Unless you have some sort of contact with the previous owner you have bought a very expensive paper weight.

Accidentally deleted all my applications and associated files using App Cleaner and when I put them all back in to Applications none of them work now

Hi last night I stupidly downloaded App Cleaner and deleted all my applications and their associated files. Because I panicked I wasn't able to use the "put back" so I just dragged everything back in to Applications. Now none of the applications will work as some of the associated files aren't in the correct location and some of the files aren't even applications. i did not back up my system with Time Machine (lesson learnt). Please please can someone help me, I know that Mac's don't have a roll back like PC's

They do. It's called Time Machine.
You need to reinstall all of your Apps. That should replace all of the support files you nuked.

Proximity Sensor Issue - Replacement Phone Still doesn't work - Now What?!

My face continues to press keypad buttons, mute, and End. I got a replacement yesterday and am still having the problem. This is disrupting my business calls and I'm getting very annoyed by the problem.
How has Apple not considered this a known issue? There was a post about this problem that had over 180,000 views and it has somehow disappeared.
I'm not really sure what else to do except return the phone and wait till they completely address all issues.

Ok-- Im hoping I can help you in some way...
I got my first iphone and knew of the proximity sensor problem because my sister was having the same issue-- i had issues right away and called the next morning (I called apple support)-- they set me up to get a new phone.... I got my new phone and synched it right away-- OF COURSE IT HAD THE SAME ISSUE.... I called apple support AGAIN and this time I got someone with common sense-- he got me to a senior advisor right away.... and this person suggested I try restoring the phone to "new" and isntead of backing it up from 3GS back up-- to do it as a "new" phone-- this made EVERY app i EVER downloaded in 2 years go back on the phone and took about 3 hours to get back to how I like it... and of course-- its still having the issue-- I am now on the phone with Apple Care AGAIN--- they are in the process of getting me in contact with an apple senior advisor---
I know that I can return it-- but id hate to return it and find out that fridays press confrence is going to address ALLLL of this and that there is a fix....

Calendar Services working, now what?

OK! so I managed to set up a new OS X server and managed to miraculously get Calendar to work. My experience is from iCal publish/subscribe era, and not exactly clear to me how this new protocol works.
Server:
Calendar Service is ON and I created 2 locations in "Location & Resources".
Network Users: User 1(me), and User 2. Only User 1 has admin priv.
Client:
I have successfully added a calendar account. BUT, if I authenticate with User 1, then I can see the 2 locations that I set up on the server, but can't see them if I authenticate as User 2.
I tried to edit the "Manage access to my account..." in iCal and gave write permissions to User 2, but still User 2 cannot see those calendars.
I realize that my problems are maybe that I am stuck in the publish/subscribe thinking, but have run out of ideas.
Questions:
Is there a setting somewhere on the server to allow users to see those location Calendars? Or a different authentication credentials?
Is this how it is supposed to work: If I want my assistant to read and write My Calendar, that I should add My Calendar to her client computer by authenticating using my credentials?
I am convinced I am missing something, because then what is the point of granting access to an account, that others still cannot see?!

For server based calendars and contacts there is no sharing across user accounts where you can have one person owning a calendar and you give another account read-only access.
It is pretty rudimentary actually nothing as sophisticated as available on platforms like Microsoft Exchange.
What you need to do (well what I did after I found out from my own research the level of functionality and how to set things up) is:
Create a pseudo account for DAV access (Calendar/Contacts) I set mine up as (where domain is 'example.com' and server is 'server.example.com'):
Name - "DAV Service Agent"
account short name = "davagent"
email = "[email protected]"
No home folder
Restrict to Calendar / Contacts / Mail services.
Create DNS service records:
Service type = _caldavs._tcp ; Port = 8443 ; Host = server.example.com
Service type = _carddavs._tcp ; rest of data as above
At client machines setup Calendar & Contacts to connect to server using pseudo user above.
It works, I have all Mac & iOS machines setup to have server based shared contacts and calendars.

ITunes: I can no longer copy a playlist into a Pages (Word) document by using select all edit copy edit paste. Why won't this work now? All I get when I paste is a series of Speaker symbols.

I want to creat a copy of my playlists onto a Pages page. I selected all the entries in the playlist, then did Edit > Copy > Edit > Paste. I've done this lots of times before and it was fine; now when I paste all I get is a series of Speaker symbols, no text with of the playlist songs. Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks.

"cannot be played on this iPod" - NOW WHAT?

I had an iPod mini that I sold last year and got a new iPod nano. I just noticed while transferring songs to it this message - that certain songs in my library can't be played in the nano! I paid for the songs. My question:
1. how do I identify what songs are being prevented from copying onto the nano?
2. How do I get permission to use all of my songs on my nano?
Important note: all of my songs were bought and paid for, so I don't understand why this is happening.

No easy way to tell, unfortunately. Look for songs that are not there which you expect them to be there. There are other ways as well. One way I used was to export my iPod's song list and my iTunes song list to text files, then imported them into a spreadsheet program for an easy visual side-by-side comparison. This let me find the problem songs very quickly.
2. How do I get permission to use all of my songs on
my nano?
It's not a matter of getting permission. For whatever reason, iTunes thinks that some of your songs cannot actually be played on the Nano. Maybe they're in the wrong format or something. If there are songs you purchased through the iTunes Music Store, make certain that you can actually play the songs in iTunes, this will ensure that iTunes can copy the correct keys to the Nano so it can play them too.

Restart your PC. after the PC restarts, bring up your Task manager, and go to the "Processes" tab. Click "Image name" to sort the processes alphabetically.
Now try to launch iTunes.
Does an itunes.exe process appear? If so, does it vanish after a second or so, or does it persist in the Processes tab (even though iTunes itself never shows up)?

First, you can terminate a running Firefox process using the Task Manager.
Ctrl+Shift+Esc to launch it
Usually by this time, Firefox is no longer listed on the Applications tab, but if it is, try terminating it there.
Click the Processes tab and look for both of these:
plugin-container.exe (used to run Flash and many other plugins)<br>
firefox.exe
Click each and then click End Process.
After that, you can close the Task Manager and you should be able to start Firefox.

The WiFi PC cards using the Orinoco chipset is the same chipset used in the original AirPort card (802.11b). According to Apple, if you are running OS 9.2.2, you can install AirPort 2.0.4 and have full compatibility.

However, I cannot say the card you referenced from Enterasys with added features and updated firmware will still work with Apple's AirPort software. The ad does say it comes with a CD containing software for all OSes and also various versions of firmware.
It should work just fine on a Wallstreet or Lombard. There is also iOXperts wireless driver which supports it and many other cards.

When not connrected to a router, the UPnp on my PS3 reads Not Available. This is particulary frusterating because I cannot play online. It became available when I hooked it up to my roomate's router but he's not letting me use his anymore so i just purchased a new AirPort Express. How do I set it up so the UPnP becomes AVAILABLE again? Please help!
