I have developed an online auction system which, has a function to generate invoices using the iText libraries.
The invoices are stored as a ByteArray in a database and are mailed to the customer. This works find when running
the application within my IDE (Netbeans) on Mac OS X and Apache Tomcat 6.0.29 and javamail 1.4.3. When running the application on
Windows 2003 Server with same tomcat and javamail version the attachment is not readable on the client.
The attachment is added to the e-mail using the following code;

Both attachments have the same length, and are similar (but are exactly the same).
In the third line of the correctly encoded attachment the characters are; "gf" which are
encoded in the not correctly encoded attachment to "P/".
Also setting "-Dmail.mime.multipart.bmparse=false" did not make any difference.
Any ideas, suggestions, solutions ?

Have you verified that the input byte array has the same contents in both cases?
Is it possible that your server is picking up a different version of JavaMail?

Password e-mail when not requested

I just received the password e-mail without having requested it. Probably just someone trying to get their own and putting in the wrong userid.
I can easily see some infrequent user saying "did I sign up as jhudson, jhudson1, joehudson, or what? I'll put them all in and see which one works".
But since it could possibly be a security breach, with someone trying sql injection to get passwords and ids e-mailed to themselves, etc., I wanted to report it.

But you typically need an authenticated server to send when you are not connected to that particular network.
It is already setup in the phone (presumably during activation). It can be turned on or off, but the settings can't be changed.

So if Rogers tech support didn't know this, its probably because they don't support it.
It is not unusual for them to not know the details of a particular phone.
I note some Rogers locations just use yahoo for mail. I think Yahoo does support authenticated SMTP.
Rogers uses Yahoo to handle their mail. They do use password authentication.

Mail will not open - error message says home directory is full

I am running 10.4.3 on a dual 800 PowerPC G4 with 1.5 GB SDRAM.
I also run 10.4.3 on one PowerBook G4 and 2 iBooks.
I retain on my computer a large number of email messages but have plenty of room in my .Mac file
I run several hundred email messages per day.
Three days ago when I attempted to open Mail, I rec'd error message "Mail cannot update your mailboxes because your home directory is full. You must free up space in your home folder before using Mail. Delete unneeded documents or move documents to another volume."
I have deleted many files from the home folder and moved others. I still get the same error message.
I have experienced no problems with accessing my mail using my PowerBook G4 with similar config and OS.

With Mail quit and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail.
Move the Mail folder to the Desktop.
Launch Mail and a new Mail folder (and account named folders within) will be created automatically.
All new mailboxes will be empty but if this allows the Mail.app to function properly, you can use the Import Mailboxes feature to import selected mailboxes or manually replace mailboxes from the old Mail folder one at a time to determine which mailbox was causing the problem

My iphone 3 keeps giving me the message that my password and username is not correct when i go into my mail. It was linked to my gmail account and had been working fine. All the sudden today it won't connect to my gmail account and this message appears

My information is correct under settings I have even deleted account and tried to re-set up my gmail account. Still nothing. It had been set up for months and working with no issues.

ATtempt to power off your device and power it back on, if that doesn't work reset all settings should resolve it for you

Mail does not correctly reflect read status of Gmail IMAP messages

Apple Mail is no longer correctly reflecting the read status of emails that have been read on other devices/computers when viewing my Gmail IMAP inbox. Whereas my iPhone and Gmail account both show changes in items' read status immediately or on next mail retrieval, in Apple Mail the only way I have currently of updating the read status is to quit Mail and restart it. Neither automatic fetching of Mail, nor clicking "Get Mail", nor right-clicking the Inbox and choosing "Synchronize Gmail" work.
My other IMAP account (MobileMe) does not exhibit this behaviour, but Mail.app does this with Gmail on both of my desktop computers.
Anyone out there with a similar problem? And are there any possible solutions, or is it a bug/incompatibility with GMail?

This problem is still occurring for me in 10.5.5 - I even tested it by creating a new gmail account with only 1 message in it, in case it was a problem with large mailboxes, and the same thing happened.
Mail messages marked read elsewhere are not updated in Mail on the next send/receive. I wonder if everyone with this problem could report the bug at http://www.apple.com/support/feedback and see if we can get this solved in 10.5.6

My phone crashed yesterday when iTunes tried to add an upgrade to it. The upgrade didn't work and instead it wiped my phone back to factory settings. There is a back up of my phone saved to my computer from before the upgrade attempt. When I try to restore the phone it asks for a password, I type in my Apple id password and it tells me it is wrong. Shouldn't it be this password? Not sure what I am missing...

Your backup file is encrypted with a password that you set, and unless you can remember that password, you won't be able to use the backup file.

When you drag messages from an IMAP server such as iCloud to a folder under 'On My Mac' they are downloaded to that folder and removed from the server. In order not to delete them on the server you have to hold the option key while dragging (as when copying rather than moving files from one folder to another).
You could always re-upload them to a mailbox on iCloud.

Maybe the following part of Apple article 43000 (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=43000) may help you:
"When using an HD camera
If you are using an HD camera and the import immediately stops when you try to import from the camera into iMovie, fast forward a few seconds into the tape and try importing again. If you have recorded over existing footage on the tape that is a different format, this may cause the import to halt. This can happen if there is still residual footage in the other format at the beginning of the tape.
For example, you have recorded 720p HDV footage over DV footage on a tape, but at the beginning of the tape there is still some DV footage that is being read first. iMovie interprets this as a DV project, then halts when it reaches the HDV footage because it does not match the current project format.
HD cameras may have a setting for converting or setting the output format transmitted over FireWire. For example, on some Sony models there is a setting for iLink.conv — this should be turned off in order for the camera to communicate properly with iMovie. Consult the documentation which came with your camera for more information."

Troubleshooting is a process of elimination. Testing in a new User will quickly tell you if the problem is system wide or if it’s your User’s folder that contains the problem.
CREATE A NEW USER
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching.
Open Mail. Enter one of your POP accounts. Be sure it's set to "leave on server" under the Advanced tab.
Do you still see the issue?
If yes, then the problem is with your base files.
If no, then the problem is in your User's folder.
Let me know the results of the test.
