I had some issues on my IPhone 4-S and lost all of my contacts. How do recover this information?My contacts are also on my Ipad

1.Open iTunes on your computer.
2.Plug in your iPhone to your computer just as you would to sync it normally.
3.Locate the iPhone in the "Devices" column at the left of the iTunes application window.
4.Right-click (Ctrl + click for Mac) on the iPhone icon in the "Devices" column and select "Restore From Backup." Select one of the backup versions from the drop-down menu and click the "Restore" button. This will restore any contacts that you have lost since your last sync in iTunes.
5.Eject your iPhone and go to your contact list on it. Any lost contact or contacts should be restored to your list.

Yes, you can recover from an old backup, but it will recover everything in that backup; there's no way to selectively recover from a backup. Which is a good reason to back up daily.
If you back up to your computer connect the phone to your computer, right click on it in iTunes, and choose "restore from backup". If you back up to iCloud go to Settings/General/Reset - Erase All Content and Settings. You will then be asked if you want to restore from the iCloud backup.

Lost iPhone contacts

I created a back up of my iPhone 4 on iTunes. I syncronized my contacts with iCloud. Soon I realized that about half of the contacts were not syncronized to iCloud. These disappeared from my iPhone as well. I looked into the iTunes backup also using a third party software. Only half the contacts are there and same is true for iCloud. Is there anyway I can recover my lost contacts ??

I had this suddenly happen too! Try going to Settings on your iPhone, click on iCloud and check to make sure your Contacts are checked to make sure it is syncing. Somehow mine got turned off along with Mail and Calendars. It retrieved all my Contacts when I clicked the Contacts switch.

My iPhone and iPad were configured with one Apple id. iMessages sent and received from the iPhone were visible on the iPad, but I lost my phone and I am no longer able to see old messases on the iPad.
I have been researching on data recover. Restoring a recent backup from iCould (on iPad) didn't help, would a data recovery software even help in this case? Is there a way to retrieve data from the phone?

I've had good results with iPhone Data Recovery - able to recover about 94% of files from undamaged disks with trashed files.
It's $49 but much less than you'd pay for a data recovery service...
But maybe this will be a good lesson to you to ALWAYS maintain one or more backup schemes.

My Nokia 6230 was full of contacts.
My MacBook Pro adress book was empty.
After syncing, my phone is empty... I have no backup !
When iSync deletes a contact from the phone, does it store the information somewhere on the mac before ?

Your contacts are not backed up as they are removed - they are simply removed. Unless you had previously backed up the contents of your mobile handset in some manner, there is no possibility of recovering your records.
iSync executed what it believed you wanted it to do: a command to replace the contents of your mobile handset with the contents of an empty Address Book, rather than merge records from the two devices. Generally, you are given a choice of Merge or Replace when performing a first-time synchronization.

You can't delete the Calendar app - it's built in to iOS. Search all of your folders, or use Spotlight search to find the app.

Recovering Lost iPhone Data After Failed Backup

So my mother is somewhat technically challenged and has never backed up her iphone before.. Basically I told her to do so and get the newest software update but I think an error occurred during the backup procedure and she continued with the update/restore anyways. So she lost all of her data and is very sad . Is there any possible way to find the data either on the restored empty phone, or on the computer from the failed backup (maybe it made a corrupted file that we can fix?)

Deleted a duplicate gmail account on iPhone, contacts disappeared!

Somehow I had 3 duplicate gmail accounts in Mail on my iphone 4s. To clean up the duplicate messages, I deleted one of the identical accounts. ALL of the contacts suddenly disappeared from my phone. I tried turning Contacts off and on in iCloud, but it didn't recover the contacts. I synced in iTunes. Nada. I went to my laptop to check out my Contacts from Gmail. The Contacts I have there are at least 3 or 4 years old, no recent contacts. How can I recover my iphone contacts???? Help!!!

relog with the previous account. contacts have a weird connection with identifications and emails and all that. go to settings>mail>recieve mail at___> it should reappear if u connect to itunes

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. Synch them back from whatever contact manager or cloud service you stored them in.

Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup and confirm that the backup completed successfully. If wi was it will say "Last Backup:" with a date and/or time at the very bottom under the "Back Up Now" button. After confirming this, do the following:
Restore your iPhone backup to your iPad Mini by connecting the iPad Mini to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your iPad Mini in iTunes, go to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click on Restore Backup. Watch the progress bar at the top of iTunes and allow the restore process to complete. When it's done, eject it from iTunes and disconnect it from your computer.
Check the contacts and calendar on your iPad Mini to confirm that the they was successfully restored. Assuming they were, go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts and Calendars to On (if they aren't already on), and choose Merge when prompted to upload the data to your account.
Go to icloud.com from your computer, sign into your iCloud account and check your contacts and calendar to confirm that they were both successfully uploaded.
Restore your iCloud backup by going to Settings>General>Reset and tapping Erase All Content and Settings. Then go through the setup screens on your iPad Mini and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup. Sign into your iCloud account, agree to the terms and conditions, then choose your most recent backup to restore to. Be sure your iPad Mini is connected to wifi and your charger as this may take some time to finish. After restoring your data and settings, it will restart and begin to download your apps and other purchased media. During this process you will be prompted enter the passwords for the Apple ID(s) used to purchase this media.
When it's done restoring our iCloud backup, go to Settings>iCloud, confirm that you are signed into your iCloud account and turn Contacts and Calendars to On (if they aren't already on). Your recovered contacts and calendar should then reappear on it.
