TS3899 trouble getting email when wifi is connected

I'm new to Iphone  I am able to get my emails when on the Verizon data network.  However, when I am on my company's wifi, I cannot connect to get email.  I can access internet.   As soon as I turn off my wifi, mail comes through.  Seems to work fine when I'm on my home wifi.
Any thoughts on how I can fix.
thanks

  • Why do I have trouble sending emails when I have connected to a new wifi outside of my home or office?

    .?..

Thank you for your quick reply. I will check with my provider (telus) in Canada. The error to recollection is "cannot send mail". My two ho e wifi accounts are also Telus accounts so I think you are on to something.
I have traveled to Mexico and assumed that the country was at fault bt now I am somewhere else in Canada and the wifi is Bell and I am having the same trouble

  • Can't get email over wifi at home, but can at work.

Okay, I think this is a problem with settings on my time capsule, but I can't figure out what. On my iPhone 5 and wife's iPad I can get email over the cellular network and over wifi at work. I can't get email over wifi at home, get a can't connect to server error. Also had a friend, who uses the same ISP, try with his android phone - same error, but works over wifi at his house. Since I can get email over cellular and wifi at work, I'm fairly confident that I have the server settings correct. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Was facing a similar issue with my friend's iPad (Latest one). Forcing the DNS Server to 8.8.8.8 (I think Google's DNS servers) fixes this issue. I had faced something similar on my iMac a long time back. Something a little strange about how Apple products do a DNS lookup? Not sure if it is an issue with the response time of the DNS servers as well..
In any case, the good news was changing it to 8.8.8.8 worked.. Luckily the iPad's network configuration tool allows you to navigate to the pane where you can see the DHCP supplied IP addresses and just go to the DNS field, delete what was present there and force it to this address.
The difficulty in coming to this conclusion was the fact that the browser works fine for all the sites we had tried. It is mostly the apps that had trouble, and the App store also was inconsistent in reporting details..

  • Shared Reminders: How do I stop getting emails when changes are made?

My wife and I both have iPhone 5's that we bought 2 weeks ago. We are sharing a calendar and a "Grocery" list in reminders. I have everything set up where it is working properly but I keep getting emails when a change is made to the grocery list. I don't get emails when there are changes to the calendar.
I want to stop getting emails when there are changes made to our grocery list but I am not sure how to do it. We both have icloud accounts and we both have checked the box under preferences in my calendar for "in app notifications" for icloud invitations. When I open Reminders in icloud I don't see a preferences for reminders.
If it helps , or makes any difference, my wife has a yahoo mail account and I have a hotmail account. She does not get emails about changes being made.
    thanks

Did you try to switch Push "off" and fetch to "manually"? This way no mail is delivered until you choose to open the mail app. The moment you open Mail on your device, your mail account will be checked and if any, mail will be delivered.
    Fetch New Data
This setting lets you turn Push on or off for MobileMe, Microsoft Exchange, Yahoo!, and any other push accounts on iPhone. Push accounts deliver new information to iPhone whenever new information appears on the server (some delays may occur). You might want to turn Push off to suspend delivery of email and other information, or to conserve battery life.
When Push is off, and with accounts that don’t support push, data can still be fetched—that is, iPhone can check with the server and see if new information is available. Use the Fetch New Data setting to determine how often data is requested. For optimal battery life, don’t fetch too often.
Turn Push on: Choose “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” > Fetch New Data, then tap to turn Push on.
Set the interval to fetch data: Choose “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” > Fetch New Data, then choose how often you want to fetch data for all accounts.
To conserve battery life, fetch less frequently.
Setting Push to OFF (or setting Fetch to Manually on the Fetch New Data screen) overrides individual account settings.

  • Why do I get the message  "cannot get mail" when trying to connect to microsoft exchange server.

Why do I get the message "cannot get mail" when trying to connect to ms exchange server?

Hard to say. Has it ever worked? Maybe your account has mobile e-mail disabled. Maybe ActiveSync isn't set up properly on the server. maybe the correct ports are not open on the corporate firewall.
You will have to talk to your IT department.

  • Trouble sending email when on Wifi.

Can't send email when on Wifi, but can send when on 4G or maybe 3G - I forget. Can receive emails fine on both.  To further confuse things I have three email accounts on my phone, two of them have no trouble sending or receiving when on either wifi or 4G.. I've checked and compared settings dozens of time.
I have a private hosted email account (not sure if that is the right word) But I don't have google, AOL, or something like that..
    Thanks

"But wouldn't I be using the same outgoing mail server if I was wifi or 4G?"
Yes it would be the same. Maybe I'm too tired to figure this out.
The only other thing that comes to mind is that your wifi router's firewall may be blocking that port. But if that were the case, your PC or Mac wouldn't be able to send mail either.

  • HT1430 Trouble getting email on my ipad.  I have deleted and re-added the original email address in Settings. Then restarted the ipad.  Still continue to get the endless cycling when I try to get on my yahoo email account.  Does anyone have a fix for this

Trouble getting my email on my ipad.  I have tried deleting the account and red-adding it. Then shutting down the ipad and starting it up again.  Any help on what else I can do to get it to work once again??

My new yahoo account nestles comfortably in iCloud on the mine iPad.
No, your Yahoo account is not in iCloud (which only handles iCloud mail), it is in Yahoo, and the Yahoo mail account is on your iPad.
But the MacBook Pro will have none of it! I write this question now as I fear that I will be totally demented very soon and unable to formulate my thoughts clearly!
Get the correct settings for your account from Yahoo and set it up manually.
By the way, I also find the "password" issue problematical. It seems Apple want my Apple password rather than my eMail password. All very confusing.
That would depend on what you are trying to do.

  • How to get email thru WiFi without a Bb Data Plan from Provider

Can a blackberry Torch 9800 be configured to connect to mail servers online and download email via wifi instead of getting it through the cellular connection. I am travelling and have SIM and WiFI but no Blackberry data plan from provider. So I want to use wifi to receive and send email.
Can this be done and how?
    Thanks!

    You both are correct.
You must have the BlackBerry data plan on your home account.
When you travel, you will roam on other mobile providers. Turn your wifi on when at a hotspot, and mobiile network > data services on. When off of wifi, ueen your data services off not to consume expensive roaming data.

  • I cannot get email when I leave my house. Why

I cannot get emails or use SIRI when I leave my house. Why?

You are probably not connected to wifi. If you want to, you can sign up for 3g through Apple (I believe) or your mobile carrier. Hope this helps!

  • How can I stop getting emails when adding events to iCal (Mac) or Calendar (iOS)?

This question could just as well go to the iCloud on my Mac community...
I put 'I' in the topic for brevity but it's actually my wife who gets emails every time either of us adds or edits events, whether we do it in iCal on either of our Macs or in Calendar on our iOS devices. Presumably this is to do with a setting in iCloud somewhere, but I've searched high and low and can’t find it. I've also compared settings on our Macs and phones and can't find anything that could be the culprit. It's driving her nuts!
For more information, we share all our calendars so that either of us read and write any of them, and we're both on iOS 5.1 on our iPhones (hers is a 3GS, mine's a 4), and we're both on Mac OS X 10.7.3 Lion (2010 27" iMac and 2011 MacBook Pro respectively).

this seems to be a new "bug" on iCloud.  It's happened to many users (judging by the posts here).  My wife and I have one shared calendar and we've been happily using it without the email problems (because I had set iCloud NOT to email us whenever an event changed - this was done at icloud.com, a setting there).  Recently we began getting emails.  I suspect a change in iCloud that was in error, because I just checked my setting and the option to have an email sent when an event changes is not checked.

  • Signal level lights don't light up even when wifi is connected

I have a new MBP (the Core 2 Duo one). When I'm connected to a wifi access point, the Signal Level lights in the Internet Connect window never light up. Anyone else seen anything like this? I suppose it's not a huge deal, since I'm getting a connection OK. It's just that I'm curious how good my connection is. And it seems strange they'd make these nice little fake LEDs but then not use them.

    Hi ,
you can check it in the return codes of the function that caused the error.
Otherwise, it's a "communication error" - which could be just about everything that can cause a communication to break ,it needs EXCEL to read some info, but EXCEL is closed prematurely. So there is some kind of OLE or RPC communication going on in the background, which should not be interrupted.
    Please check
Meaning of the SAP return codes:
    : 1) Gateway errors:
    : 221: Error in CPIC-SS 222: Storage bottleneck
: 223: Network read error 224: Network write error
: 225: Invalid request 226: No connection yet
    : 227: Gateway process terminated 228: Shared-Memory problem(read)
    : 229: Shared Memory problem(write) 230: No free LU

  • I have older macs 10.5.8 osx. my computers at home and my new phone cant get emails. its says cannot connect to server

Like I said I have older macs but a new phone and I know longer can get emails. It says cannot connect to the server

Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then  "About This Mac".  Write down what it says about "version"and report that here.  Now continue to "More Info..."  Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).
    Check system requirements:
    Snow Leopard 10.6 Technical Requirements - http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The main issue might be having too little RAM.  Most computers run newer systems more smoothly with more RAM than Apple says is a "minimum" for running that system version
After installing 10.6.3 run the updater to 10.6.8, then upgrade iTunes.
Jan. 2014 post by Kappy on doing all this: https://discussions.apple.com/message/24599931
The new system should install on top of the old one.  That said, things have been known to go wrong and it makes sense to do a backup before installing the new system.  In fact you seem to care about your files and things so you need to always have a backup because one day you will wake up and you hard drive will be dead and everrything on it gone.  Buy an external hard drive and start using Time Machine or something to back up. The other risk is when you install the new iTunes.  It doesn't happen frequently given the millions of users but there are daily posts here from people who for some reason the installation wiped out their whole library.  If you have a backup then there's nothing to worry about.
This is well within what many people can do at home.  It's a matter of inserting an optical disc and clicking you way through menus.

  • It's happening again...trouble sending email when using 3G

I had this problem in the past...probably over a year ago and it seemed to resolve itself on its own. Cox is my isp so I'm sure that has something to do with it.
when trying to send email over wifi from home, it's great. But switching to 3G, out of the house, I seem to have problems. I get the message "The sender address is not valid". Now the weird part is if I go into settings and turn on SSL, it MIGHT send after that...but it doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes, I'll turn SSL on...then go back and turn it off again and mail will send. Then sometimes, neither works. Is this a known issue?
I recently upgraded to 3.0 on a 3G. That's when the problem came back.

    Hi,
my problem seems to be solved very easy. It seems, that Aplle switch off the servers on mac.com (wich was used for me.com), without any annocment :-))) But MobileMe configuration still was the same like at the beginning and it use mac.com servers
I deleted MobileMe account on my iPhone and after thet add once again.
