TS3988 how can i verify my icloud account when i can't access icloud email

I set up a cloud account, but it asks me to verify via an email sent, but it is being sent to cloud email address.  i don't know where to acceess that email.

    Music purchased from the iTunes Store is automatically available in iCloud.  This is "iTunes in the Cloud" and does not require an iCloud account.  The music is stored in the iTunes Store, not in a personal iCloud account.
    If you don't have any Apple devices you will not be able to create an account.  It wouldn't be any value to you anyway as it syncs data on you computer with your Apple devices. If you don't have any, there is nothing to sync.

    The problem is of course that I can't access the old email address to confirm the verification that iCloud has sent to it.
    Solutions already tried:
    Go into iTunes and 'Manage my account' - this doesn't work as there is no option to manage the iCloud account here, only the iTunes account
    Reset the iTunes account to the old email address - this doesn't work, as it still sends a verification to the old email address, and I can't access it to confirm
    Contacting Apple by email - tried this but they didn't seem to have a clue what I was talking about!
    Does anyone out there have any bright ideas?  All welcome!

    That's because you don't have iOS 5 or higher. See the following:
    Connect the phone to your computer. Open iTunes. Select your phone from the sidebar under Devices. Click on the Summary tab in the main window. Click on the Update button.

    You can verify by signing in at My Apple ID. You'll receive an email prompting you to verify.
    If that doesn't help, try this...
    Launch iTunes on your computer
    From the iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
    Click: Reset warnings and Reset cache
    Click OK.
    Restart your computer, restart your iPhone.
    Go to the iTunes store on your computer then click Redeem under Quick Links right side of the window.
    See if you can redeem a gift card.

    If you have a rescue email address setup, then you should be able to send an email to reset the password or the security questions. If that is not available, then you would need to contact iTunes Store support. Check out the article below for more information.

    Be sure you are checking the email account that you used to set up the Apple ID you used to create the iCloud account.  Also, be sure to check your spam/junk folder as well as your inbox.  The email you should receive looks like the image below.  When you get it, click the Verify Now link.
    If it still isn't there, try going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right look for a link to resend the verification email.

    In order to use your Apple ID to create an iCloud account, the primary email address associated with the ID must first be verified.  To do this, Apple will send a verification email to your account and you must respond to the email by clicking the Verify Now link.  Make sure you are check the spam/junk folder as well as the inbox.  If it isn't there, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right click Resend under your Primary Email Address to resend the verification email.

    You need your password to delete it and I need the email address to reset the password.  I feel like I'm going in circles!!!  Please help!!!

    Go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address (you shouldn't need to verify the old account).  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

    You're saying that when you click on the  iCloud preference pane button it sends you to the defunct MMe
    rather than giving you this?
    Is your profile up to date, i.e. are your running 10.7.5?  Make sure you click on the iCloud button and not the MMe button.

    If the old ID ("email address) is yours, and is an ealier version of your current iCloud ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID.
