TS3988 iCloud keeps telling me password is wrong?

when logging in to ipad message says password is wrong even though I know it is correct and I get green ticks on login?

In the title of this thread you list "keeps telling me password is wrong in terminal"???
When you open terminal have you tried the command, without the quotes "dsenableroot"?  You must be logged in as a local admin to do this.
If you try this, terminal will ask you for your admin account password then you can enter a new password for root and verify the new password.  Exit terminal Log out and log  back in with username root and the password you put in for the root account when you were in terminal.
There is a definite problem, or actually a couple of problems, with the directory utility when trying to enable root from directory Utility / edit.   Going the dsenableroot in terminal clears these problems out.

  • Keep changing root password, keeps telling me password is wrong in terminal.

I used the migration tool to copy my documents over from my PC, but it created a separate user account. I want to move those files to my current account, but I don't have permission to access the folder unless I'm logged into that account (in which case I don't have access to the folder I want to move them to). I tried to change the folder permissions, but it said my root user password was incorrect. I changed it, got no error in doing so, and tried again. Still got the error. I found a thread with a similar problem (but not the same one) and followed the instructions in it. Still got the same error. How can I fix this?

  • Icloud keeps telling me that my password is wrong when I try to back up my Iphone. It is definitely correct and works everywhere else.

Why does Icloud keep telling me that my password is wrong when it works everywhere else, eg. the App Store and etc.?

  • ICal keeps saying my password is wrong

Ever since I upgraded to Snow Leopard, the iCal keeps saying my password is wrong.
And it keeps showing annoying prompts all day long
    What happened?
    How can I fix?

Password for what? Are you using MobileMe, or iCloud? If you were using MobileMe but have migrated to iCloud you will be unable to sync your calendar, apart from an unsupported hack as Snow Leopard is not compliant with iCloud's requirements.

Sorry, but if you have forgotten the password for your encrypted backup, you'll have to start all over again:
Make sure that the password you use is one that you'll remember. If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and forget your password, you won't be able to restore from backup, and your data will be unrecoverable.
If you can't remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and choose set up as a new device when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore.

  • My ipod touch won't connect to wifi at home and it use to, it keeps saying my password is wrong

My ipod touch won't connect to wifi at home, it use to work just fine, now it keeps telling me my password is wrong, but it can't be wrong because it is the same one I have always used. I also have an IPad2 that belongs to my daughter and it connects with our wifi at home with no problem.  But, why is my wifi telling me that my password is wrong.  I have tried everything, we have changed the pass word and that did not work.  We have have taken security off of our wifi and my ipod touch give me another message, but it won't connect to my wifi at home.  Please help... b/c the greatest thing for me is to be able to connect to wifi at home.
    thanks

I have even shut down my ipod touch to see if it fixes the lack of wifi connection at home but it keeps telling me my password is wrong.  I can connect everywhere else, but not at home.  Pls help my.. I need to connect at home.  Does it matter if we have othere decives like ipads connected to the same wifi.  Because we have an ipad2 and my ipod and up until 1 week ago, we had very little issues keeping both of our devices connected at home.  Eitherway the ipad2 is still working just fine on our home wifi, but my ipod touch keeps refuseing to accept the password.
Pls help, i am very frustrated and I have tried everything.

  • HT4913 is there any special way to enter your apple ID when turning on itunes match?my apple ID has a . in it & it won't let me connect keeps telling me it's wrong

my apple ID has a . in it, when i try to enter my ID on ipod it keeps telling me it's incorrect is ther any special way i should be doing it?

Remember, any purchased item from the itunes store is forever associated with the Apple ID used to buy it.  So when you get prompted for an ID/password and it doesn't accept it, then you are using the wrong ID.
Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores, be sure it's logged into the ID you have set on the iphone (since that one seems to be connecting with the right ID).  If you've done this, then you might wait a bit to see if the "cannot connect to .. store" message has to do with internet connections.

  • Icloud says that my password is wrong but it isn't

When I try to log into icloud it says that my password is wrong even when it isn't, but when i log into icloud.com it works.
I have the same problem with the calendar on my mac it says that the password to my email is wrong but when i logged into
gmail it worked just fine. Does anyone have the same problem, or know how to fix it?
Edit: I updated my mac after the problem and I can log into all the new features with icloud and gmail

My guess is you may have signed up for two-step verification? If so, be aware that Apple made some security changes recently (thanks to the celeb photo leaks). Many third party apps now require app-specific passwords, the goal of which is so that you are not using your master iCloud password with third party apps, where security may be lower than what Apple expects.
What was confusing for me is that, unlike a couple of messages in the last 2 weeks (Mail and one other I can't remember), this particular message I started receiving today did NOT mention an "app-specific password is required". It just said my iCloud password was incorrect (and I verified that it WAS correct). BUT.... the error message had an icon:
I finally remembered it to be Fantastical, a small (and great, I might add) Calendar app.
So... you may have a third party app that, like this one, isn't being clear as to what is needed... you just need to get a third party app-specific password. Hope this helps:
    Generate app-specific passwords
Follow the steps below to generate an app-specific password:
    Go to My Apple ID.
Select Manage your Apple ID and sign in.
    Select Password and Security.
Click Generate an App-Specific Password and follow the steps on your screen.
After you generate your app-specific password, enter or paste it into the password field of the third party app as you would normally.

  • Ichat keeps saying my password is wrong

i sign into ichat and then 1 second later it says my password is wrong!

    HI,
Is this an @me.com name you have created through iCloud ?
Are you trying to use it with a Version of iChat that is not iChat 6 ?
(iChat 6 contacts www.me.com at the same time as logging in to AIM which seems to verify the password to AIM which earlier versions do not do)
On the other hand if you have an @mac or @me.com name and the password is over 16 character you may alos have problems.
The AIM servers can only manage 16 characters max.
If an Older MobileMe @me.com name or an @mac.com name then use iForgot to change the password.
If it is iCloud then visit your iCloud page in Web Browser and change the password there.
