TS3988 Name change between name in account opening vs name used in sending email

When I send emails from my @me.com account, the name associated with email is not what I want it to be showing, is there a way to change the name or add nickname?

    We found out that when we perform valuate GL account Open items there will be reversal done at the same time whereas when we perform Valuate G/L Account Balances there is NO reversal posting even though we hv entered the reversal posting date and Period.
    Pls advise which one we should perform?

    “Valuate GL Account Open Items” are for open item managed accounts including vendor/customer accounts. The valuation is performed for each (open) line items on key date specified.
    "“Valuate GL Balance" is for account NOT managed on Open Item basis but managed in foreign currency. The period balance of key date in foreign currency is valuated. Reversal document can be created by selecting 'Reverse postings' in "Postings" tab.

    There is another setting for "Start Conversation from", that needs to be set to phone number.

    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")

  • No "account" options when I try to send email

    When I try to send email I no longer have the option of what account to send from. The drop down window thingy is blank. All my mail is ok. I can receive mail ok and the accounts (2) show up in my inbox. Not sure but it may have happened when I tried to install gpg mail. If I delete mail preferences will this help?

    Yes, re-creating com.apple.mail.plist may be overkill, but I don’t know of another way to solve the problem, especially if having installed a plug-in could have a bearing on it:
    1. If you have a .Mac account and .Mac synchronization of Mail data is enabled either in Mail > Preferences > General or in System Preferences > .Mac, disable it before proceeding.
    2. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    3. Make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong while trying to solve the problem. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is locally stored.
    4. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences/. Locate com.apple.mail.plist and move it to the Desktop (to be deleted if this fixes the problem).
    5. Open Mail. You’ll have to set up your non-.Mac accounts from scratch all over again. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don’t. Just enter the account information and Mail will automagically rediscover the data in ~/Library/Mail/ when done.
    6. You’ll have to re-configure most of your settings in Mail > Preferences. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
    7. You may also need to re-install or re-enable any Mail plug-ins you have installed for Mail to recognize them.
    8. As a side effect of re-creating com.apple.mail.plist, Mail might rename Outbox (which is where messages waiting to be sent are stored) to Delivered. The name of that mailbox is actually a misnomer, as it would contain messages (if any) that couldn’t be delivered for some reason. You can delete that mailbox if you wish.
    9. If the problem is fixed now and .Mac synchronization of Mail data was enabled at the beginning, enable it again, go to System Preferences > .Mac > Advanced, click Reset Sync Data, and choose the appropriate options to reset the Mail data stored on the .Mac server with the data locally stored on the computer, i.e. sync data must flow from the computer to the .Mac server.
    Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

  • My name changed on my iCloud account

    I'm not sure if it was to move to iOS8 or not, but in my phone's settings, my iCloud account uses my wife's name. And when I go to System Preferences / iCloud on my computers, her name is there too! I don't know how it got changed (maybe she's drunk with power), but how can I change it back to my name?
    I found where I can change my Apple ID on the apple site, but not the iCloud name.

    Here's the deal: I have more than one apple ID. Actually many of us do. @ mac dot com, dot me dot com, over the past decade there have been lots o "Apple IDs" (as they're called).
    So one was attached to my file syncing, another attached to my iTunes money. I still do not know how my wife's name got in there (maybe "family sharing with ios8 is trying to take over?), but I was able to fix it at least by logging into different IDs on different machines.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    First, just confirming that you realize you can always access your AOL email account by going directly to www.aol.com from the Safari browser (or Firefox, Chrome, etc.) until you get the Apple Mail problem fixed.
    If you cannot connect directly through a browser, it's quite possible that AOL is doing maintenance or having a temporary problem. It happens with surprising frequency to most online hosts. I usually check downrightnow.com, but AOL is not one of the services for which they collect trouble reports.
    Reconnecting your Apple Mail to your AOL account:
    In the Apple Mail menubar, click on the Mailbox, Get New Mail, and highlight the AOL account.
    You should see the 'spinning wheel' next to the account name for a moment while your AOL mail is retrieved.
    That should successfully reconnect you.
    Occasionally my ISP seems to corrupt a few packets and I'll get a message that all my external email account password are rejected, and asks me to re-enter them. Instead of re-entering passwords, I click 'cancel', and use this same procedure to re-connect.
    NOTE: I'm on Snow Leopard OS X 10.6, and Mail 4.5 (1084) but I believe the process to reconnect did not change since OS X 10.5 Leopard.

    I have yet to find an email server that does not work with Mail.app. Your solution will be to configure its ports and send/receive protocol according to the email server's requirements.
    Try the Zimbra support forums. I found this excerpt from a relevant post:

    When I click on a webpage link to send an email to somebody, Mail brings up a new email with that address on it -- but invariably it assigns it to an email address that I rarely use.  Same for forwarding incoming email.  I see no way to edit that From list to have a different account come first.  This does not happen when I click new message from the Mail program itself.  Is there a way to edit that list?

    By default, Mail will always sent new messages from the account that is currently "selected" (ie, you have selected one of that account's mailboxes).  However, you can easily change this in Mail's preferences.  Choose Mail -> Preferences, then select the Composing tab, then change the pop-up menu next to "Send new messages from" to the desired account.

    Your appleid can be any email address you want, its the e-mail BEHIND it that matters. So if you dont have your verizon email address anymore that should still be ok. Goto http://appleid.apple.com/ and click on manage account, login to your OLD WORKING appleid, and change your email to match your new email address

I have the exact same account set up on my Old IPad and iPhone and am ble to send and receive. My work (where the server for this account is) gave me the IPad and set up the apple account. What am I missing?

    Today we had an unwelcome name change to our raid array. The name was changed when unwelcome visitors fingered the keyboard and replaced the name of the volume with spaces. This immediately effected all managed computers attempting to access the mounted share points or their profiles upon login.
    The name the desktop has been restored however attempting to review the share points the following message appears. The Selected Share point could not be found.
    One or more items have been moved, renamed or deleted. Restore the names and locations of the Items in the path.
    When examing the name of the mounted volume with Disk Utility the mount point appears as VAULT_1 when the finder displays VAULT
    Any suggestions ?

    yes, a disk drive mounts under /Volumes/ and WGM creates sharepoints there so for example, u have a HD called Store, it will be
    /Volumes/Store
    and the sharepoint will be Store, but
    if the name changed to Stores then the original share Stores will still be there in Volumes so u will get
    /Volumes/Store
    /Volumes/Stores
    if your rename Stores back to Store, it will apear on the desktop as Store but because there is already a /Volumes/Store path then it will be renames
    /Volumes/Store_1 i.e the second HD with that names,
    All shares will point to /Volumes/Store
    now to fix this you will need to do this
    remove the folder called /Volume/Store which is the old share point path and is now a folder not a drive path
    rename your HD to Store and reboot
    Store will then be correctly mounted as
    /Volumes/Store
    and all share points should now work again.
    ive done this a few times myself.
