TS3989 transferring photos from iPhoto album to photo stream

I am using Mac OS lion version 10.7.5 and iphoto version '11 9.4.3 (720.91).  I have an existing album of photos that I would like to transfer to photostream so that I can share those photos with friends and family.  I "select all" for the photos in the album and then click on share with photostream, but none of the photos are appearing in photostream.  Any tips on how I can make this process happen and share these photos?

For Shared Photo Streams you need to be running 120.8.2 or later.  With 10.7.5 all you can use is Photo Streams between your own Mac devices, i.e. Macs and mobile devices.

trying to make an ibook and have 800 photos, want format of 8 photos/page, but default is not that- "create" the initial book from iphoto "album" it loads less than 800 pics and then when i change layout i have blanks.
if i clear the book so that it is all blanks and then try to load in the pictures i have it loses the chronology of the pictures that i had established in the album.
is there a way to import photos into an ibook template and keep the original order of the photos without having to do them one at a time?
also, is there a way to insert a photo rather than just dragging it? i have tried the cut and paste funciton but it doesn't seem to work, the target site doesn't seem to register with iphoto.
    many thanks for your help.

Photos are added to book in chronological order.  So if you want to add them to a book in the order you have placed them manually in an album do the following:
1 - select all the photos in the album.
2 - use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date menu option as shown here. Select any date and add 1 minute between photos.
3 - select just one photo from the album and create a book from it.
4 - in the book click on the Options button ➙ Book Settings button and make sure the checkbox for Auto-layout pages is unchecked.
5 - drag the album with your book photos onto the book icon and they will be imported into the Photos tray of the book in your pre-determined order but not into the pages themselves.

  • Setting duration of multiple photos imported from iPhoto albums

in iMovie 5, i had no problem importing the photos from my iPhoto albums, and adjusting the 'Photo Settings' to what i needed, about 0:05 or 0:06. It seems in iMovie 6, that is no longer possible. Other posts here have mentioned setting of 0:03 or 0:11, but if not, it will default to some other value.
Anyway, in iMovie 5, i had no problem changing the duration to play each picture to the value i wanted, typically selecting all the photos in the project, and moving the slider bar or entering the exact value i wanted (0:00:05). That's not possible in iMovie 6, as far as i can tell. The only way i've found is to select each photo individually, 'get info', and set the value. The project is thousands of photos from 2 webcams of a building construction, creating a time-lapse video. I'm not about to select each of 25k photos to input a value...
I've seen the mention of using QuickTime Pro to do something similar. Is that the only option, or is there a way to do this with iMovie6. We only bought iLife '06 to complete the project (and upgraded, including updating all iPhoto albums & iMovie projects to newer versions), as iMovie 5 was not able to handle the large # of photos.
    Any help would be appreciated.

However, dragging the 5 photos to the clip area, they go back to that same 9:29 default...
Very strange. Instead of dragging the photos, try clicking the Apply button in the Photo Settings window.
That probably won't work. Something is causing iMovie to "stick" at 9:29. Drag the duration slider to a time less than 9:29 and import an image. Then save the project. Now do the routine I described earlier. It might start working.
If still no luck, quit iMovie and trash the iMovie preference file. It's located in your UserName/Library/Preferences folder. It's called "com.apple.iMovie.plist".
It contains the last Ken Burns settings. Discarding the preference file will force it return to a new default duration setting. One that works, hopefully. Then do the routine I described earlier.
If it still doesn't work, something is messing up iMovie. Rule out the problems descrbed here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1852869#1852869
Problems "talking" to iPhoto can cause iMovie to fail to locate the image, but it shouldn't affect the duration.

  • How do I transfer photos from iphoto album to my ipad

How do I transfer photos from my iphoto album on my Imac to my ipad

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Transferring photo stream from iPhone 4 to 4s

I just switched from an iPhone 4 to a 4s. I made sure that my recent photos were backed up in photo stream but not on my computer before I did this. Is there anyway to access those photos from my new iPhone? They are not showing up in my new photo stream even though I am signed into my iCloud account.

If the photos were uploaded to photo stream more than 30 days ago they will not be available to download to a device which just enabled photo stream on the same account.  (Photos older than 30 days will remain in the photo stream folder on your device if they are already there, but will not be availalbe to newly connected devices.)  If that's the case, you'll have to import the photos from your iPhone 4 to your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083) then put them in a folder and then sync them to your 4S by putting selecting to do so on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.

  • TS3989 my photo stream was mistakeably deleted from my iphone 5. i have icloud. how do i download my photos back to my Iphone

my photo stream was mistakeably deleted from my iphone 5. i have icloud. how do i download my photos back to my Iphone

If you deleted the photos from photo stream they are gone.
My Photo Stream has a 30 day 1000 photo limit on the server. If you just turned it off then turning Settings/Photos & Camera/My Photo Stream back on will reload the photos left on the server, the rest are gone.

  • Pics from iPhoto Albums not all showing in iPhone tab in iTunes

I am trying to sync several of my iPhoto albums with my iPhone. With most of my albums when I click on the photo tab in iTunes, it shows WAY less pictures than are in the real album. Does anyone know what could be causing this or how to fix it? I really want all pics from the albums I choose to move to phone.

Apparently sometimes, for various reasons (replacement of a track in the Store with another copy, slight changes in the release identification, etc.) the link between the track and your Purchase History can break, which will result in the track not appearing as eligible for iTunes Plus upgrade even though it exists as Plus in the Store.
Contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form at the bottom of the Purchase Issues FAQ web page (there is no category specifically for this issue, so I'd suggest just picking one under the Purchases - problem area) and explain the problem to them. It may take a couple of email exchanges to get past the "form" email responses, but eventually they should work out a solution for you. You may need to provide the track name, artist and order number so they can confirm the original purchase.
    Regards.

  • Transfering pictures from iphoto's to external hard drive

    Hi All,
Could someone help me as I'm going around in circles?
My hard drive is nearly full, so I need to transfer my photos from iphotos to my external hard drive and delete them on my powerbook. Everytime I either drag the 3200 pictures and drop into my hard drive or copy and paste it comes back saying one of my pictures is busy so it's unable to complete the process. And this stops the computer transfering any photos? I've tried moving the pictures in question, but then it quotes another picture?
Can anyone advise the best way to transfer photo's to my EHD without this challenge ocurring?
    I would appreciate any advise.
    Kind Regards
    Danny

It may be a terminology issue but Apple uses the word "import" for any transfer of photos from the phone to a computer (or to an external drive attached to a computer). http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083
You can (I believe -- haven't tried it) import them directly to an external drive attached to a Mac by using Image Capture. Image Capture is in Lauchpad -- probably in the "Other" folder in Lauchpad. Easiest way to start it is via Spotlight Search. It can be set to open automatically when a phone or camera is connected by opening iPhoto and going to menu named iPhoto and opening Preferences.
With the phone connected, the bottom of the Image Capture window allows you to select where you want the photos to be saved.

  • Transfering Library from iPhoto 06 to iPhoto 09

I have recently bought a new iMac and wish to transfer my photos from iPhoto 06 installed on my Macbook to my new computer. I do not wish to use Migration Assistant as my Macbook now contains dross accumulated over three or four years and Migration Assistant does not give me the opportunity to filter out the rubbish. What is the best way to accomplish a successful transfer? I have about 6000 pictures.

To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network, Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.

  • Transferred pics from iPhoto, now every time connect iPod iPhoto launches

And i don't want it to. I got the photos I wanted from iPhoto onto my iPod, but now every time I connect my iPod Touch to my MBPro iPhoto launches. Please help me make this stop. Went through everything in Prefs for both programs, to no avail.
    Thanks in advance!

    1. It will only happen when there are photos in the "Saved Photos" folder in Photos on the iPod. You can empty that folder and it will stop launching iPhoto.
    2. You can turn this off from Image Capture or iPhoto Prefs. But turning this off will also prevent iPhoto from launching when you connect a camera or SD card.
Preferences (in iPhoto) -> General (at the top) -> Conecting Camera opens -> and click on no application
    OR
Preferences (in Image Capture) -> When a camera is connected: select no application

  • TS3989 iCloud, Photo Stream

I've tried all your suggestions here and my Photo Stream still doesn't work. I'm using iPhoto 11, I'v updated all my devices to the latest software versions on all my devices and it still doesn't work. I have not upgraded to Mountain Lion yet and I recently purchased an iPhone 5. What is the problem?

Well ... I can't get Photo Stream to turn on with iPhoto on my Mac.
From the various instructions from Markwmsn immediately above, I have, or have done the first six points:
    * Device(s) on iOS5.1 or later
    * Mac(s) on 10.7.3 or later and iPhoto 9.2.2 or later (10.8.2 and 9.4 for Shared Photo Streams).
    * All device(s) and Mac(s) are signed in to the same iCloud account.
    * On the iOS device(s), Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream is "On" (and Shared Photo Streams if desired)
    * On the iOS device(s), Settings > Photos & Camera > My Photo Stream is "ON" (and Shared if desired)
    * On the Mac(s), System Preferences > iCloud > Photo Stream is active
But when I try to do the next step ...
    * On the Mac(s), iPhoto > Preferences > Photo Stream > Enable Photo Stream is checked.
... when I try to check the box for "Enable Photo Stream", I get an error message:
"Sign in to Photo Stream using iCloud.  In order to use Photo Stream, you have to be signed into your iCloud account in System Preferences.  Cancel / Continue."
BUT in the System Preferences, I AM ALREADY SIGNED INTO my iCloud account, and indeed it is working fine for all the other features (Contacts, Calendar, Notes, etc.)

  • Transferring video from iPhoto

Can someone please tell me how to transfer video from iPhoto onto my iPod Touch? I have some video of my children that I'd like to put on my iPod, but can't figure it out. In iTunes, under Photos tab, I have selected "transfer photos from iPhoto" and the box for "include videos" is checked. Yet, not one video is showing up when I sync. Any other ideas? Thank you!

if the video is in your iTunes library and plays fine in iTunes, try this:
select the video in iTunes and, from the advanced menu, select +create iPod or iPhone version+.
sync the newly created file to the device.
    does that work ?

  • Transfering pictures from iPhoto to Webshots(internet)

How do you transfer your pictures from Iphoto to webshots. Everytime I try it I can not find the file. Its probably right infront of me but idk. thanks in advance.

There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
For uploading, the best one to use is File -> Export as you can resize the pic, then upload it from the desktop. As it's a copy, you can trash it afterwards.

    mlvov,
I did as you said and went to the icloud control panel on my Windows 8 Laptop to be sure I was looking at the correct folder for my photo stream.  All my "shared" albulms pushed to my Laptop and are up-to-date with the exception of the "photostream" album. If I create a "shared stream album" and place photo's in it on the phone; I can see the photos on my laptop. I dont get it. I had a iphone 4s and had zero isues and now with my new nifty iPhone 5s it doesent work.
What am I not doing correctly.
    Thanks,

  • TS3989 August Photo Stream not Showing up on Mac

The pictures I took with the phone show up in Photo Stream on my iPad but not the Mac. I think I have everything turned on because July's Photo Stream is there.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
        •    Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
        •    Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
        •    Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.
