TS3989 Unable to enable my photo stream on my pc win 7

I installed the new iCloud Control Panel for Windows and signed in, but when I go to Photo Stream I see a message that says I'm not signed in. I have followed the steps to enable Photo Stream but I still get the message that I am not signed on. If I take a picture on my iphone its show on the photo stream on the phone but my computer does not update.

  • Error enabling photo stream "iphoto was unable to connect to Photo Stream"

Whenever I try to enable Photo Stream, it times out after awhile, and I get the following error: "iPhoto was unable to connect to Photo Stream." (see below [1]).  I "tcpdump" shows that the computer is trying to open connections to akamai (unrelated?) but not apple.  I am using iPhoto 9.2 build 626.
There is one oddity in this scenario : I have one iCloud account that I am trying to use between three computers.  I was able to register iPhoto on my mac book pro, but it is failing on my second.
    thanks in advance,

Good catch, nifmus.  I'm kicking myself for not checking system.log earlier!   I have very similar messages in mine.
By any chance is your Library folder (or part of it) relocated to a separate disk?  Or your entire home folder?  I have part of my Library folder on a SSD for speed, but my home folder and some of the larger Library subdirectories are on a regular disk because they wouldn't fit on the small SSD.  It's all tied together with symbolic links, and without problems... until Photo Stream came along and didn't like it.
I knew that sandboxd was involved somehow, but your post prompted me to focus on it.  It's definitely the problem here.  I found the following sandbox profile file inside the iPhoto application bundle:
    /Applications/iPhoto.app/Contents/Library/LoginItems/PhotoStreamAgent.app/Conten ts/Resources/PhotoStreamAgent.sb
Inside this file are a bunch of definitions to control what PhotoStreamAgent is allowed to do.  There are a bunch of lines under an allow-file-write* declaration which should allow PhotoStreamAgent to write to the above files listed in your log.  Lines such as:
           (home-regex #"/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement")
           (home-regex #"/Library/Preferences/com\.apple\.iLifeAssetManagement\.crash\.plist(\.[^/]+)? $")
And many others.  In my case, I suspect that the problem may be related to the fact that the final absolute path of those files may differ from what you'd get if you just substituted my home directory in for "home-regex" since I have stuff relocated around.  Although since I was able to get it working with a blank home directory, also put in place via a symbolic link (so the final path differs), I'm not 100% sure of this.
What I do know right now is that there is a quick "hack" that fixed it for me.  I don't like the hack and would strongly recommend against it, because it's likely to break the next time there's a software update for iPhoto.  But it works until I can find a permanent solution.
To make it work, I edited the above file and changed the second line from "(deny default)" to "(allow default)".  This, of course, defeats the whole purpose of the sandbox by allowing PhotoStreamAgent to do anything it wants, but it also allows stuff that is really supposed to be allowed but fails anyway for us.
If you want to try this, it helps to be familiar with the unix underpinnings of OS X.  There's probably a way to do it in the normal graphical user interface, but as a longtime unix guy, I just jumped to the command line and did a "sudo vi (that long filename)".  To do it via the gui method, you'll have to navigate to that folder in Finder (quickest way is to hit Cmd-Shift-G and copy/paste the path, or right-click iPhoto and "Show Package Contents", then drill down to the file), edit the file, save a copy (because you don't have permission to modify it), then copy the new version over the old (it will ask for an admin password).
Again, I don't recommend this because it's likely to break in the future and defeats the security that Apple intended with the sandbox, but it's a quick fix.  I'll continue to investigate as I have time, trying to find out precisely what's causing the failure with the default sandbox profile.

  • Iphot is unable to connect to photo stream

I recently updated my software, and now my Iphoto is unable to connect to photo stream. I enabled it in icloud, but nothing changed. Any suggestions?

  • IPhoto was unable to connect to photo stream

When I try to enable Photo Stream I get the error message that is the title of this post.  How do I fix this?

    Hi LN,
    It's iPhoto 9.2.1
In iCloud System Preference I selected the Photo Stream button but when I go to iPhoto to enable it there it fails with the message "unable to connect to Photo Stream" and when I go back to iCloud System Preference I find that the button has been UNselected.
Yes, it was working happily on all my devices.  The problem cropped up after I did a reset on my iPhone.  I don't know what that has to do with it, though, because both it and my iPad are happily connected to Photo Stream and pics I take with my phone show up on my iPad.
    Thanks!

  • Aperture unable to connect to photo stream

Aperture 3 and Photostream were working fine for me but now it's not.  I think this started happing after Apple replaced the logic board and video card in my 2008 iMac.  I'm using Lion and all software is fully up to date. I have photostream enabled in the mac icloud settings and turn it on in the aperture settings. It spins for a while and then says "aperture was unable to connect to photo stream", which also then disables photo stream in the icloud settings.  I have uninstalled Aperture and all prefrences files using AppCleaner and reinstalled. I have also done some tricks which others have reported as working, such as logging out of icloud and then logging in as a different user and deleting preference files from ~/Library. I have also tried creating a fresh Aperture library.  So far nothing has worked.  If I look at the console I get a crash log caused by the PhotoStreamAgent that contains the following:

Well if this just started happening since the iMac was worked on by Apple you should contact Support. You should still be under warranty for the repair so they should take care of it.

  • Aperture was unable to connect to Photo Stream

Aperture was unable to connect to Photo Stream.  Help!

That didn't work for me. However I found an alternate fix. You just need to move ~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement to the trash and then reboot, and it should work.

  • HT201317 My iPhoto keeps telling me that it is unable to connect with photo stream and when I click on Photo Stream in iCloud settings, a few minutes later, it is un checked. Please help. Photo Stream works on my iPad and iPhones, just no longer on my mac

Hi. When icloud first came out it worked well on all of my mac devices (macbook pro, ipad, iphones). However now it no longer works on my computer. When I go to system preferences it is unchecked and when I check to enable it, it tells me it can't. I also go to iCloud settings and when I check the photo stream box a few minutes later it is unchecked (which I never do). Please help.

Mmmm, I was hoping there might be a few more clues.
With little confidence you might try the following.
    Reset photostream at iCloud.com.
Log out/in of iCloud on your Mac.
    Trash your system preferences plist.

    Hi,
I hope someone can help me.
I was testing shared photo streams and i inadvertantly clicked a link on the bottom of the email when someone sends you a shared photo stream invite which blocks any furthur invites from being received. The effectivly un-subscribes yourself from receiving any new shared photo stream invites!
Does anyone know how to re-enable the invitations?
    Many thanks,

Can anyone from iCloud support help me?

  • How do I enable shared photo stream to subscribers without iCloud

I started a shared Photo Stream today using iOS 6 and invited my family members to subscribe to it.
They do not have iCloud accounts and were prompted to enter their iCloud accounts in order to access the Photo Stream.
It says that subscribers can access the stream online without an iCloud account but I cannot find a way to enable this.  I would prefer not having my family members sign up to iCloud or download the iCloud control panel for their PCs.  Is there an easy fix so that I can update the stream and they will receive a email with a link to the stream online for viewing?
    Thanks
    k

You are not alone. I've got the "iCloud can't find the page" problem as well.
Short summary: It seems that iPhoto/iCloud uses the same URL when you delete a Stream and then create a new one. The new one can then not be found.
    Long story:
Also set up a shared stream yesterday for testing, got the invitation email, clicked the link, browsed the page successfully. All fine - not as nice or useful as MobileMe galery, but at last something that is again usable to share to my parents AppleTV.
    - got rid of the first shared photo stream, confirmed the message the stream+files will be deleted
    - checked on icloud.com (original share email), yep it's gone
    - selected some images, clicked share, to PhotoStream, new
    - readded emails of people to invite, renamed stream to Friends+Familly
    - clicked on View website -> error message! ARRRGH!
    - disabled and re-enable public website, click on View website -> error.
    - called Apple Support: "Yes, some users are seeing problems, please try again later".
The link looks terribly familiar. Checked my Safari History. And yes it seems that iPhoto re-used the same link as for the original Photo Stream I deleted.
    So:
    - made a new Stream, check website -> works.
    - remember URL
    - delete Stream
    - create a new one, check website -> broken.
Apple: We love you, but your quality control, arrgh! Especially when it comes to iCloud.

  • TS3989 Pictures not appearing in Photo Stream

Hi, since 2 weeks ago all the pictures I take with my Iphone 4s won't appear anymore in the Photo Stream.
I didn't change my settings nor updated anything. Also, the phone is not connected to wi-fi currently but I have 3G and it always worked this way.
I tried turning iCloud off and on, taking pictures and closing the Camera app. I also checked, just in case, my usage of iCloud and I have the 5 gigas available.
    How can I solve this?

Check the Photo Stream FAQ. It only syncs when connected to Wifi! Were you jailbroken before? I was at one point, and my phone always thought it was on Wifi through a jailbroken app. Now that I'm not jailbroken, I really really miss syncing over 3G!!

  • I have an iphone 5s and I am unable to delete the Photo Stream from my phone.

I can not get these photos deleted from my phone.  They are in Photo Stream.

Try disabling photo stream from settings. This should remove all pictures you have in photostream.

  • IPhoto "unable to connect to photo stream"

    Dear Apple,
Could some of the geniuses please respond?
I see this topic appear more and more (also on this forum) but no one from Apple has reached out for help so far, just guessing co-users.
On my iMac 27" I get this error message in iPhoto. (on my iPad/iPhone it works fine).
I surfed around here and there and tried some of the (blind) tips I got like
loggin in & out of iCloud,
    trashing some pref files,
    logging out of MobileMe etc
    ... none of this helped.
I have the latest OS (10.7.4) and iPhoto '11 (v9.3) version.
Some effective help would be a lot appreciated. :-)
    Regards,
    Wolf

I have exactly this issue, and have also tried repairing permissions, deleting keychain entries but nothing works.
Very strange as it was working in June, not sure when it stopped but i have some June photo stream photos, and it continues to work between my iPad and iPhone. Just not on my iMac.
I have also tried to activate it within "system preferences" however this make no difference and it just un-ticks itself without any warning before i can get it to work in iPhoto.
    Please help.
