TS3992 I bought iPhone 5 but cannot delete iPhone 4S back up because it says it is in use
Help, I bought an iPhone 5 yesterday but cannot back it up to the cloud, because it says there is no room. I tried deleting the last back up from iPhone 4S but it will not delete because it says it is in use.
I don't know about the "can't delete" issue, but as to the storage problem...
The problem could be that you don't have enough storage on the device itself, not on iCloud. Go to Settings>General>Usage to see how much "Storage" you have available on the device. Farther down the list is the available storage on iCloud.
Also check:
Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage; there, tap the device you need info on and the resulting screen lists Backup Options with which apps store data on iCloud as well. Tap Show All Apps to get the complete list of apps and MB used for backup storage.
A device needs many MB of storage in order to perform a backup to iCloud.

I am trying to delete duplicate content in my iTunes library. I have stopped the download and I can see them on VIEW>Displaying Duplicates, but cannot delete them with the Delete button. Can anyone assist?
If you've paused the download (they are partially greyed out on the duplicates screen ?) then you will need to delete them from download window, you can't (as far as I know) delete partially downloaded items from that screen. When you have items downloading, or downloads that are paused, you should have a downward pointing arrow at the top right of the iTunes screen
If you click that arrow you should get a popup window with the items that are downloading/paused - and you should be able to select and delete them (or resume their download) from there. -

I have just bought Element 11 but cannot get it to recognize Windows Mail as my Carrier
Previously I used Elements 7 to send photos to friends, but I bought a Nikon D800 Camera, and elements 7 does not support files from that camera, so I bought Elements 11, but cannot get it to access Windows Mail as my carrier. When I try to e-mail photos it only shows Microsoft Outlook or Adobe Mail to choose from. How do I get the program to understand that I use Windows Mail as my carrier.

I use Windows Mail all the time and it is the Default e-mail carrier for all my other programs and is the only carrier that I use in my computer. I use Windows Mail with Elements 7, Wordperfect and Word. The only reason I bought Elements 11 was because I had bought this new camera with 36.3 mega pixels, Elements 7 could not handle these files, and I was advised to buy Elements 11, which works fine with these files. I do not understand why Elements 11 did not recognize Windows Mail as my default, and does not give me any options other that Windows Outlook or Adobe Mail. There must be a way to get into this programs setup to alter this, but I cannot find any way which would allow me to do that. Can You help me.

My Macbook Air can delete files and folders and take them to Trash Can but cannot delete from Trash Can . Cannot empty trash securely.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

I have a corrupt jpeg on my desktop. It has duplicated itself 450,000 times freezing my finder. I have reinstalled 10.6.8 but not freed up the desktop. I have managed to delete the corrupt jpeg from a shared imac but cannot delete the duplicates. Any ideas
This can be done from Single User Mode. You're going to need a little nerve though since everything is command line based.
1) Enter Single User Mode by restarting and holding down Command+S on the keyboard. A whole bunch of UNIX stuff will go by on the screen in white text on a black background. When it's done, the command prompt will be sitting at:
:/root#
2) Above that, you'll see that it tells you to enter two commands. Run this one first by typing it in and pressing enter:
/sbin/fsck/ -fy
This does a system file check. A good thing to do in your case as it may be damaged. It could take a while. When it's done, you'll be back at the :/root# prompt.
3) Enter the second command and press enter:
/sbin/mount -uw /
4) Type the following at the prompt:
cd /Users/name/Desktop
Where it says "name" above, the short name of your user account goes there. If you're not sure what it is, first type:
cd /Users
Then type:
ls
That's a lower case L, not a one. It stands for "list". You'll get a listing of all files and folders in the Users folder. So if your short account name is diane, then the command will be:
cd /Users/diane/Desktop
After entering that command, the prompt should read:
:Desktop root#
Type:
rm *.jpg
Be very careful to type is exactly as shown. rm followed by a space, then *.jpg. Press enter and all files ending in .jpg will be deleted from the Desktop folder. With 450,000 of them, you could be waiting a while for the prompt to come back.
Type:
exit
and press enter to boot back into OS X. -
how do I delete my old phone from my icloud storage. when I try it says "cannot delete backup-This backup cannot be deleted becasue it is in use"

iPhoto will not load the iPhoto library. When I select "show all windows" the library does appear but cannot open it. I am on version 8.1.2 and using Maverick.
I was able to get it fixed. I had received some responses and they had me
recreate the library I believe. It's been a while so I cant remember
exactly what I did. I have since upgraded to the latest i photo version and
have had no problems with it.

My computer crashed a few years ago, and I called Adobe and received help getting the software reinstalled and activated. Computer messed up again in January and I had to reformat/reinstall everything. This time I loaded Acrobat and am able to view and edit files, but cannot print to Acrobat pdf.
