TS3992 my iphone does not  back up to icloud

My Iphone 4s after I uptadet to IOS 6.01 does not work properly: doesn't t back up to icloud manually or automatically, it takes a lot of time to connect to my wifi, and when it is connected does not recognize the internet ( safari does not work)  and when somebody from my Contacts calls  it does not recognize the phone # and it says is a unknown person ... what should I do? I am still in a 1 year periodo of warranty. My husband's iphone is in the same way.

I just discovered I'm in the same boat.
I happened to check my iPad 2 and found that the last icloud backup was in mid-July.   I completely turned off the device (Home-Power buttons) as is advised in the Apple troubleshoorting guide.  Started up again.  In Pages, I created a new doc and went to my mac, logged into icloud.com and checked iWork.  The new file was there - so my iPad connection to iCloud is okay.  Pressed the Back Up Now button in Settings>icloud>Storage & Backup.  The progress meter made it a little more than 3/4 of the way through, and with less than one minute go to, the process gave up and the error is the usual "the last backup could not be completed".
I've searched through many past posts on the topic and the only advice I find is to shut down/start up the device and to reset Network settings.  I've done the first.  Since I'm able to get files to iCloud from Pages, the connection to icloud is okay.  But the backup is the problem.  Any other ideas before I consider a Network reset (which I assume means losing many settings).  Or maybe I go back to backups to iTunes.
I should add that backups work flawlessly on my iPhone.  Also have more than 20 GB of free space on iCloud and about 10GB free space on the iPad.

Hi, my iPhone just does not back up with iClouds, even trying manually. Don't know why, tried everithing, it just start the proces and says: "calculating remining time" and stays there forever. Anyone know something about?
I even upgraded the iCloud back up space (was close to the five gb)
Even-thought my iPad works perfectly with iCloud using the same account.
    Thanks!

Go to Settings>General>Usage and see how much space is available on your phone (listed at the very top).  The pop-up might be telling you that you don't have enough space on your phone to perform the backup, not that you don't have enough space in your iCloud acount to store the backup.

  • Can I recover photos on iPhone 4S not backed up on iCloud or computer when connect to iTunes error shows up on screen. Was trying to update now it must go to restore.HELP!

Can I recover photos on iPhone 4S not backed up on iCloud or computer when connect to iTunes error shows up on screen? My son was trying to update now it must go to restore. HELP!

If there is no backup of the device to iCloud or iTunes and the device has gone into recovery mode when trying to update, then the data is gone. If the device was connected to iTunes to do the update originally, it is possible the default backup was done, unless your son disabled it. To check to see if there is a backup, go in iTunes, click on Edit, Preferences, Devices and see if there is a backup listed for the date/time before the update was started. If he was doing the update OTA on the phone, then there is no backup. No backup, no photos.

  • Contacts on my iphone does not sync properly with icloud.

Contacts on my iphone does not sync properly with icloud. I have merged data with facebook contacts, and this merged information appears as I want it to be on icloud.com. But on the iphone, the facebook contacts and the icloud contact appear separately.
I have tried exporting the contacts out of icloud.com, then deleting all contacts on both icloud.com and on the iphone; then importing the vcard back into icloud.com, but the facebook details still appear as a separate contact. It is too time consuming to merge all of my contacts manually What should I do in order for the iphone to display the contacts as it is on icloud.com?

Is there some sort of Facebook tag on the vCard?

  • HT4910 my iPhone is not backing up to iCloud. On iTunes on the computer, i have set it to back-up to iCloud and after each connection to the computer it shows the last time it was backed up, but on the phone itself it shows it hasn't been backed up for we

My iphone is not backing up to icloud even though on itunes i have set it to back up to icloud. whenever i do a cable connection between my iphone and mac at the end of the exercise it indicates the last time the iphone was backed up i.e. "last back: 9.08a.m. but on the iphone itself it says it hasn't been backed up since March and on icloud there hasn't been any back up because the latest additions to the iphone are not there.
Periodically i get this message "This iphone has not been backed up ... weeks" I have followed through with all the steps and still no joy. I did however notice that my icloud email account on the iphone is different to the one i have on the computer. It would apear that I am using the two interchanagably but i have been trying to correct this so that i"ll use the same one right through.
Might this be the problem and how can i resolve it? Pls help

If this is your first time backing up your phone then yeah it might take several hours. It's definitely something you want to do before you head to bed. So try that but also make sure that your contents that are to be backed up are less than 5GB since iCloud only has 5GB of space. Usually photos are what would take up the most space so check how many photos in terms of GB you have by going into settings->general->usage then look at photos and camera.
    Hope this works!

  • My iPhone has not backed up to iCloud in 44 weeks

My iPhone has not backed up to iCloud in 44 weeks. But yet, when I went to iCloud.com all my new contacts were updated, but I noticed my PhotoStream did not appear on the Home screen. When I try to update on my iPhone it says the next backup is too large (I only have my contacts and photos saved to iCloud). I have about 500 photos, and I know people with over 1,000 photos whose phones get backed up with the free 5GB just like me. Can anyone tell me what is wrong and how I can fix this problem so I can backup my photos?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
My iPhone has not backed up to iCloud in 44 weeks.
This seems to be because you don't have enough room, have you been to settings > iCloud > Storage & Back Up > Manage.... and looked up what is taking up the room and how big your next back would be.
I noticed my PhotoStream did not appear on the Home screen
Photo Stream isn't one of the features of iCloud.com

  • Is anyone having a problem with iPhone 5 not backing up to iCloud. No problem at first now it says it will take 35 hrs, etc to back up.

Is anyone having a problem with iPhone 5 not backing up to iCloud. No problem at first now it says it will take 35 hrs, etc to back up.

Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. It's taken me this long to even reach out for the simple fact I HATE being a complainer but this is just horrible.
Do you have an iPad 3 as well? And is yours not experiencing any issues close to mine?
    Thanks again!

  • How to retrieve deleted pics from iphone 4 not backed up in icloud or i tunes?

How do I retrieve deleted pics from iphone 4 not backed up on icloud or itunes?

    You don't.
    Turn on PhotoStream in iCloud.
    Settings>iCloud>PhotoStream
PhotoStream will store 1000 of your most recent photos and synch with iPhoto on your Mac.

  • IPhone 3GS not backing up to iCloud

My iPhone 3GS has been updated to IOS5 but will not back up to iCloud. It keeps telling me to shut off airplane mode or connect to wifi to start the backup. I turn off airplane mode, and I've tried to connect to wifi, but it uses the 3G instead. I shut off the 3G and it still does not connect to wifi and continues on the 3 G network. it refuses to back up and has never been able to back up. Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?

If you get the message "Backup not successful",  I had the same problem.
My solution was to turn off some apps (Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap my device name in the Backups section, then look under Backup options) and try a manual backup.  If it didn't work, turn off a few more apps and try a backup.  Keep doing that until the backup works.  Then try adding in some of the last batch of apps that were previously turned off - the objective is to find the app that causes the backup to fail.  For me, I suspect that the one app I found had a bad data file that, when included in the backup, caused the backup to quit.
This can be a long process if you have a lot of apps that you originally turned on for backups.

  • TS3992 iPhone will not back up to iCloud

When I go to the iCloud setting page on my iphone 4S the button to turn iCloud Storage "on" does not allow me to do that.  It shows it being "off" and shaded such that it cannot be changed.  Unclear why this happening and any help would be appreciated.

    That button is grayed out?

  • Just reset my apple ID and password, but iPhone does not recognize it for iCloud or iTunes.  Is there a way to be sure these iPhone features use my new Apple ID and password?

Have never been able to use iCloud because my iPhone (v 4) does not recognize my apple ID or password.  Any ideas?

If you still have access to your old email address, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email account and verify it.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  You can now go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your correct iCloud ID and password.
If you don't have access to your old email address, you will have to contact Apple to have them reset the password so you can disable Find My iPhone and sign into your iCloud account.  You can either go to https://expresslane.apple.com, select "More Products and Services", then "Apple ID", then  on the next page select "Other Apple ID Topics", then "Lost or forgotten Apple ID password" and click "Continue"; or you can contact Apple Support (http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/).

  • Iphone will not back up to icloud

I had to replace an Iphone.  I am trying to backup the old phone to icloud.  Iphone says backing up Estimating time remaining but is doing nothing.

This may be caused by a corrupt existing backup that needs to be deleted, or by data on your device that is causing the backup to fail.  To troubleshoot these, try deleting your last iCloud backup (if you have one) by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, tap your device under Backups, then tap Delete Backup.  Then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on and try backing up again.
If it still won't back up, you may have an app or something in your camera roll that is causing the backup to fail.  To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again.  If the backup is successful, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is causing the backup to fail and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails.  Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

  • TS3992 My iPhone won't back up to iCloud.

The iCloud pane in the settings app told me that to create an iCloud backup, I had to connect to Wi-fi, plug in my iPhone and lock it.
I did all that, and even left it that way all night long, but the next morning I checked my iCloud backup and it still hadn't backed up to iCloud.
Now I haven't backed up my iPhone to iCloud for almost five weeks.
    What can I do?

I just discovered I'm in the same boat.

  • When device does not back up to iCloud...

There have been many users who either have been successfully backing up to icloud and now can't or who never have been able to back up.  I've been in the former group, the standard error is that the backup was incomplete.
I followed many of the suggestions given in the forum (reboot the device; reset the network; delete the incomplete backup, log out of icloud, log back in, try a manual backup; etc.) but never got the backup to work (my ipad 2 had been backing up previously).
Today, I tried something new - I deleted the incomplete backup, then in Manage Storage. chose my ipad name and showed all apps.  I then began turning off one app after another (in Settings>iCloud>Storage&Backup>Manage Storage>[my device>Backup Options).  I've got so many, I turned off about half of them.  Then did a manual backup.  IT WORKED!  Then I went back to Backup Options and began turning on groups of apps that were off and trying to backup again.  I repeated this until the backup was incomplete.  Then back to Backup Options and turned off some of the recently turned on apps - hopefully you get the picture.  I did resort to writing down app names in each group that I either turned on/off so I wouldn't get lost in the process.
The one app (so far) that makes the backup fail it iAWriter.  Since it saves its text files to either Dropbox or icloud, there's no need to have them included in the backup.
When I have more time, I'll start turning ON other "off" apps in groups to check for other corrupt data files belonging to each app.
But at least I'm able to get a backup.
(Haven't updated my sig - I use Mountain Lion on my mac.)

I don't see how this could happen, but maybe you could try removing it from your account first to see if he can then remove it from his account. Then you could add it back in to yours.
