TS3999 iCloud/iCal question?

I started using iCloud on my Mac, iPhone, & iPad. iCal on Mac and iPad use iCloud only & info is outdated & incorrect. iPhone uses "from my mac" & has most updated/correct info. How can I sync all 3 devices to use this correct cal? Thanks in advance!

Is it possible that the "Delete events 30 days after they have passed" advanced preference got turned on in iCal somehow?

  • TS3999 iCloud + iCal + ML sync issues

    Hey guys,
I recently purchased a late-2011 13" MBP and upgraded it to ML.  I did not have any prior issues with my iPhone/Mac/iPad/Black MacBook syncing together with iCloud, which is why I'm perplexed after countless Google searches and resets with no answers.  My iOS devices are still syncing properly.  I can access my updated calendar at iCloud.com.  Everything works except for iCal on Mac with iCloud.  I now have an exclamation point next to iCloud in the calendar along with a phantom Google calendar that is no longer shared.  The error message I get is:
The server responded with an error.
The request (CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation) for account “iCloud” failed.
Does anyone have a solution for this?  I've attempted signing in and out with different accounts to test, allocate and/or delete files from the Library > Calendar folder, Preferences folder and SyncServices, and also verified disk permissions.  I'm re-downloading ML now to try re-installing it.  I'm out of ideas.

    Hey there!
I apologize for my terminology because it probably wasn't accurate or that clear.
While using your existing Apple ID or iCloud account, open Calendar, then go to File > New Calendar > iCloud.  Give it a different name and color than your existing calendar for troubleshooting purposes(you can always delete the old one and rename it and change the colors later).  Once the new calendar is created, try creating a new event under it to make sure that it syncs across all of your devices.  In my scenario, doing this revealed that the new calendar synced correctly while the old one continued to show an error icon.
As far as migrating the calendars, I think there are two options.  Luckily for me I didn't have too many events so I went into each event and edited them at the bottom where it indicates which calendar you want to associate the event with.  The other method that I was going to try, but wasn't sure if a corrupted event/setting would carry over to the new calendar if I did, was to export my old calendar to my desktop, then import it back into my new calendar.  Theoretically, this should move all of those previously entered events under your new calendar without having to click into each event like I did.  Because I've never tried it, I can't speak to whether or not the original error would return.  *However, if your Mac Calendar is empty due to syncing issues, the export method won't be of much help as it only exports what is currently visible in that calendar.  But if your calendar currently contains all the events you'd like to keep, but it just can't sync anymore, then exporting and importing might work.
If you decide to try the export/import method, it's pretty straightforward.  After you create the new calendar, click on the old one and go to File > Export.  Save the file to your desktop, then go to File > Import.  Choose the file you just saved and select the destination as the NEW calendar you just created.  Again, theoretically, it should work.
    Good luck!

  • After Mavericks upgrade, I disabled iCloud / iCal connection. Now I can't make any changes to my calendar

I had multiple bad experiences with my iPhone using iCloud and when I upgraded, realized too late, that my computer was now going to be tied to the Cloud. After I recovered from the stress-induced, post-tramatic syndrome from my iPhone / iCloud experience, and verifying that I would not lose all my calendar entries, I disabled the Calendar connection for iCloud in System Preferences. Checked around iCal and nothing looked amiss.
Then I went to schedule a new event. Right click, the New Event window pops up and before I have the opportunity to type, a window pops up with this message: "There was an error saving calendar data. Calendar encountered a critical error while saving to the database, and recent changes may be lost. More information may be available in the console."
And left in my calendar is an entry called "New Event" that I cannot edit (I've tried using the menu as well as clicking). I tried deleting the event with this window popping up: "You can't change events in the "Home" calendar. Only the calendar administrator and any delegates with permission can make changes to read-only calendars. To make changes to the calendar, contact the calendar administrator."
Me, I'm the calendar administrator and sole owner & user of this computer. Theoretically, "Home" should be me, not, as I suspect, some evil remnant of the Cloud sticking around to haunt me.
Question #1 ??? How do I fix this without connecting to iCloud again
Question #2 What is the console and where do I find the information referenced?
Question #3 How do I make myself the administrator, especially when I thought I already was the administrator?
    Thank you.
I'm on a MacBook Pro OSX Version 10.9.2

Nevermind. After digging around some more in the Support community, I tried restarting my computer. Problem solved. After the mess iCloud made of my iPhone, it didn't occur to me that the fix would be something so simple for my computer.

  • Apple ID & iCloud ID Question

Apple ID & iCloud ID Question
I recently added a second iPhone for my spouse and want to pair that phone to her iPad Mini so she can receive iMessages on both her phone and iPad. In setting up her phone and iPad I kept her Apple ID the same as on my iPhone and iPad2, but I created a new iCloud account for her 2 devices.  I also used the iCloud account for both messages and face time. However, her incoming messages are not showing up on her iPad.  Unlike my iPhone and iPad where messages show up on both devices. What am. I setting up wrong?

Go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Create an Apple ID'. You will not need a credit card (that's when opening and account in the iTunes Store).

  • How to stop email notifications in icloud/ical?

My coworkers and I share numerous calendars using icloud.  Recently we have began to receive a deluge of email notifcations for every change, tweak, or addition made to the shared calendars.  We have been using shared icloud ical calendars for over 8 months and have NEVER had this issue until it started earlier this week.  Help!  My email inbox has become literally overrun with ical notification emails.
    Thanks!

I started getting this same problem today.  I received hundreds of emails.  In one case, a single event on the calendar was updated, but it sent me notifications for every event on the calendar.
I've never turned on the notifications for calendar changes. I tried to disable it to no avail. I went into iCloud calender and the option for change notification was not checked.  Just to be sure, I checked it, waited, and then unchecked it hoping to reset a setting. It had no effect. Eventually, I had to unsubscribe from the calendar.
Anybody know if Apple rolled something out?

  • I recently moved to Australia and received a new iphone with a local AUS number. I have a backup of my US iphone in the icloud. Question: when I activate my new AUS iphone which option should I choose - new phone or restore from backup?

I recently moved to Australia and received a new iphone with a local AUS number. I have a backup of my US iphone in the icloud. Question: when I activate my new AUS iphone which option should I choose - new phone or restore from backup?  I would like to have all my contacts, email, etc. however wasn't sure that option was appropriate since it is a different/new number and a new phone.

Yes, as new iPhone then restore from backup.

  • How to reverse iCloud/iCal sync fiasco?

I can't reverse iCal to not sync with iCloud. Installed new OS and tried (and hated) iCloud for calendar data. How do I restore old settings and keep the iCloud from messing w my iCal?  I would prefer iCal data only on my MacBook, but can't seem to go back, or to delete the iCloud/ICal sync settings.

I've been having the same issue, but I think I've figured it out.
Select a calendar from the list, go File > Export > Export... (not "iCal Archive...", just "Export..."), and save the file. Do this for all your calendars, then disable iCloud, and open each of your calendars with iCal, always selecting "New Calendar" as the destination.
I know, it's time-consuming, and maybe there's a more elegant way, but it works.

My iCloud iCal shows up a wrong time on the left side (in the Week-Mode) - but when I click on a event, the time i right!

  • Icloud+ical holidays not showing on ipad 2

Hello, I am using Windows 8.1 enterprise  x64. I make my school schedule using iCloud.com  to make my calendars. I put some events that the college is not open for example, Family Day, Reading week, easter holidays. But when I check to see those "college closed" days on my iPad 2 it is not showing up those college holidays. But, when I make those holidays/events on the Ipad 2 then it automatically shows up on icloud.com. Why is it not showing up on the Ipad even though I have created those events on iCal in icloud.com ? Thank you.

  • ICloud sync questions

I've got a MBP running Lion 10.7.2, a first generation iPad and an iPhone 4S, both running iOS 5.0.
I have set both the iPad and the iPhone to sync AND backup via iCloud.
If I create a new iCal event on my MBP, it may show up immediately on one device, and not for a few minutes on the other.  It's not always consistent which one gets it first.  So my first question is ... what exactly is happening here?  How quickly does my MBP send the new event to iCloud, and how quickly is it supposed to sync to my devices?  Is iCloud supposed to push the event to the devices as soon as it gets it, or do the devices "check in" every so often and pull down any changes?
For instance, a few minutes ago, I deleted a "test" event in iCal on my iPad.  The event still shows up on my iPhone and MBP.  So I closed iCal on the iPhone, re-opened it, and the deleted event was gone.  Is the iPhone waiting for me to close the app and re-open it?
Same with the MBP - the event stayed there in iCal until I quit iCal and re-opened it.  Then it disappeared.
Is this how iCloud sync is supposed to work?

  • ICloud Issues & Questions?

Here's our setup.  I have an iMac and I'm using Mail and iCloud.  My wife and I have iPhones 4s (just upgraded from 3Gs).  My wife has a Dell laptap and uses MS Office and at work MS Mail Server Exchange.
Here's the first problem.  If my wife sends me an invite to an appointment (a doctor's appt, for instance), which we do frequently so we know each other's schedule outside of work, the email appt invitation arrives with an attached .ics file.  I right click on it and select add to iCal.  I've also tried Open with iCal and both give me an error message.
I called apple and eventually was transferred to a senior technician.  His answer was it can't be done.  MS Exchange and iCloud are different server types and don't play well together.  I will have to manually add the appointment.  Does anyone know of a solution where I can use that .ics file to  update either iCal or the Cloud directly?
While this is a work to home situation, there must be many work enviroments where there is a misture of apple and pc and appt invitations being sent back and forth.  Surely, they don't have to add them manually?
My second question is how to best co-ordinate our devices.  Currently both our phones are on the same apple id as is the iMac and iPad 2.  My phone, the iMac, and the iPad are on the iCloud.  I haven't put my wife's phone in the Cloud yet.  There are arguments against putting Stacy's phone in the same Cloud id.  Chiefly, her contacts are fewer and different than mine.  As I understand it, whatever is on the Cloud will be on the phone, picking and choosing which contacts will be on the devices can't be done.  She wants to maintain her contacts separately form mine.
We can use a different id for my wife's phone.  That would mean when she adds an appointment to it, I wouldn't see it.  That would be a disadvantage.  Is there any way we can share only the calandar of the Cloud and not the other parts?

I forgot to mention that my wife doesn't want every app I have on my phone and vice versa.  Another argument against using the same Cloud id.

  • Ical on Iphone not sending events to icloud ical

    Hi,
I'm having the issue that events I put into my ical on my iphone 4s are not appearing on my icloud or on ical on my mac. Ical on my iphone is retrieving events from ical fine. I updated to mavericks and ios7 a few months ago and this is the first problem I've had with this. I've tried turning calendars off and on again under icloud settings on my phone. Any ideas?
