TS4000 How do I change my 'Home' location in Reminders?

It doesn't seem to link to my contact, and it wont let me edit. I did have it set correctly for a while, but it's moved me to somewhere in Wales!
Thanks
James

Thanks iW00.
I'll try to clarify.
In the recent past, Calendar would calculate the travel time from my current location or not at all.  Recently it changed to calculating it from my "home" address.  Using SHIFT+CMD+M I found "My Card".  It had the address Calendar was using.  I deleted that address and now Calendar either calculates the travel time from my accountant's address or not at all.
I don't want Calendar to calculate the time from "Home."  I have two homes and I'd rather have it calculate the time from my current location, as it did in the past.
Hence my current questions:
- How to have Calendar use my current location instead of some apparently random "home" address (like my accountants)?
- Why does Calendar sometimes calculate travel times and other times not, having entered identical destination addresses?
- How do I add Favorites to Maps?  (I want to add "NH House" and "MA House".)

  • How do I change my "Home" location in Calendar.

Calendar thinks my "Home" location is my house in NH.  I also live in MA.  Calendar used to use my current location for calculating travel times.  Now it thinks I live in NH and uses that address for calculating travel times.  How do I have it revert to using my current address? How did it decide I lived in NH?

    Thanks iW00.

  • Cant restore after installing updates how do I change the home user/account

I installed 3 updates, opps, this morning, and when I restarted the computer it had reverted back to old setting from 2004. I purchased the computer from a friend, and had worked hard to remove his stuff, now my settings mail etc are gone and the old stuff is back. How do I restore the computer to what it was before the updates took it all off? also how do I change the home from his back to ours? sorry, I am new at this and very very frustrated with the mac so far.

Changing the home folder name caused the problems, not the updates. The problems won't show up until you restart, which, in your case, was just
    after the updates. See:
    <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107854>
    <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106824>
When you get a used computer, it is safest to erase the disk (with zeroing option), then reinstall OSX, update it, and get the latest versions of all the software you need. You should also run Extended Tests from the Apple Hardware Test disc to be sure there are no hardware problems.

  • TS1314 How do you change the default location address (in My Pictures) of the IPOD Photo Cache ?

How do you change the default location address (in my pictures) of the IPOD Photo Cache ?

You do no specifically. It sounds like you are syncing a folder to the iPod. In that case:
From a Folder on Mac OS X, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7
The iPod Photo Cache will be located in the folder you selected to sync with.
Thus, you have to change the location of the folder you sync with.

  • How do I change the Home file name back to Home?

Help! - How do I change the Home file name back to Home? My supplier changed it to Demo. I've tried pressing return, control click and Get Info but none gives access to change the name. Any ideas?

The Home folder isn't named "Home." It is named for the user account it represents.
Who is your "supplier?" Sounds like they're not terribly bright.
Can you provide some details on why they "changed" it. Is this a brand new Mac? Were you having information transferred from another computer?
It sounds like you just need to create a new account and get rid of "Demo."
While logged into the "Demo" account, go to System Preferences in the Apple Menu.
    Click on Users & Groups
If the padlock is locked, click on it and enter your password.
Click the + button at the bottom of the list of users. This will create a new account. Fill in the information you'd like to use for your account. The account name is what will be used for the "Home" folder.
Once created, select it from the list and check the box to "Allow user to administer this computer."
You can then log out of "Demo" and log in as your new user. If there is nothing in the Demo account that you want, you can delete it from the Users & Groups System Pref.

  • How do I change the "home based" computer for my IPOD to a new laptop?

How do I change the "home based" computer for my IPOD to a new laptop?  When I plug in y IPOD classic, I get a msg asking me to erase the IPOD.  What I'd like to do is make the laptop my "home base" vs. my desktop.  I have had no success when using icons from ITUNES.

You need to move the iTunes library from your home computer to your new laptop first.  From there you'll be able to continue syncing your iPod as before.  This iTunes support article covers the different methods available for moving your iTunes library from one PC to another.

  • How do I change the default location for iPhoto media?

On my MacBook Pro, I have a 250 GB solid state drive. More than 140 GB of that space is taken up by images and video in my iPhoto folder. I want to purchase an external hard drive to store my iPhoto media so I can free up space on my Mac's hard drive. I can drag and copy the images/video to the new external hard drive, but in the future how can I change the default location to the new external device? I looked at iPhoto preferences, but see no setting that would re-direct media from my camera. Please help.

Copy the library to the external hard drive.  Then launch iPhoto with the option key held down and choose the library on the external hard drive.
Run the external library to make sure it has all of your photos and works as expected.  It will not be your default library.
Once you're sure the external library is good you can delete the library on the SSD.

  • How can I change the default location of files?

I have just changed the location of "My documents" in Windows to point to a separate drive (in fact "e:\mydocs"). Now Flex Builder 3 can't see my projects. If I import them it wants to copy them back to "c:\documents and settings\administrator\Flex Builder 3". So I have 2 questions - firstly is it possible to alter something so that it sees my projects in the right place automatically. Secondly how can I change the default location?

  • How do I establish or change my "Home" location in the Mavericks Maps app?

In the Maps app in Mavericks my "Home" location is completely wrong, and there doesn't seem to be a way to change it.
The address itself, as it's expressed in text, is correct. But the location on the map in terms of where the address is located is entirely wrong.
How do I alter the location of "Home" in the Maps app to establish the correct location.
I have sumitted an error report to Apple to identify the problem. But this seems to be a futile effort, since I did the same thing when the Maps app was released for iPhone over a year ago and there's been no adjustment made.
So I'm looking for a way to manually correct my "Home" location on the map. Anyone know how to do this?

I have the same or similar wierd problem. For some reason, maps (and calendar when calculating travel time) believe I live some 80 km south of what I do. In another town, a street that doesn't have a similar name to mine. The address in contacts is correct. When I search for that address in maps it shows the correct address. If I type "home" in maps' search field it shows 2 homes, the wrong one and the good one (with the adress wrote). I have no idea how the wrong home got in there and how to get rid of it...
Calendar always uses of course the wrong home to calculate travel times...

  • How can I change the startup location if sunstudio?

    Hello all
when I start the sunstudio it creates me the .sunstudio directory in my $HOME dir ,
how can I change it so it will create me the .sunstudio directory in different place
the reason I have no space left in my $HOME dir and I have some space in different location
    Thanks

when I start the sunstudio it creates me the .sunstudio directory in
my $HOME dir , how can I change it so it will create me the
.sunstudio directory in different placeYou can override the default user directory using --userdir (note there
are 2 '-' chars in this option). So you could start with:
    $ sunstuido --userdir $MYSPACE/my-userdir
There is also 2 locations the startup script looks for configuration files
(a configuration file is just a file containing some options you want
used every time you start the IDE). One of these locations is in your
home (~/.sunstudio/ide.cfg). Do you have enough space in your
home to add a small text file? The file only needs to contain 1 line:
    --userdir $MYSPACE/my-userdir
If you don't have enough space in your home directory for that,
you could use the 2nd config file if you have a private copy of
Sun Studio. If you're using a shared version then you probably
can't do that and would have to type the command line option each
    time.
The 2nd config file is <install-dir>/netbeans/3.5V11/bin/ide.cfg
(where <install-dir> is /opt for a default install). If you are running
sunstudio from /opt/SUNWspro/bin then <install-dir> is /opt. If
its some other path then <install-dir> is whatever comes before
    the SUNWspro part.
If you're running an older version of Sun Studio (ie, older than
    Sun Studio 11) then the 3.5V11 would be 3.5V, 3.5M, or 3.5R,
depending on what version of Sun Studio you're using.

  • How can I change the default location ipad/iphone pictures are stored in on my desktop?

So here's my dilemma.  I have lightroom mobile on my ipad and iphone.  Seamlessly, lightroom mobile pushes these images to my desktop and saves them in a folder in windows.  I use an SSD and would prefer not doing read/writes to it that are unnecessary.  What makes the default location problematic is that I can't seem to change it.  Further, when I sync my ipad/iphone to my windows desktop using a cable, I will now have duplicates of images that were synced via lightroom mobile.  So, it would be infinitely simpler, I think, if lightroom mobile would sync ipad/iphone images to a directory I specify, on a supplemental hard drive for instance, and using dates for folder names rather than some default directory on my main drive where they are just dumped.

Currently, Lightroom saves the images in a directory structure under a folder named "Mobile Downloads.lrdata", which is created in the same folder as the catalog file.
For example, an image will be saved as:
    Windows = C:\Users\<username>\Pictures\Lightroom\Mobile Downloads.lrdata\<random hexadecimal name>\picture1.jpg
    Mac = Users/<username>/Pictures/Lightroom/Mobile Downloads.lrdata/<random hexadecimal name>/picture1.jpg
you want to change the location of this "Mobile Downloads.lrdata" to another path.
You should file an Idea, AKA Feature Request, to the Feedback site:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family
If there is enough people voting for it, the Product Managers will evaluate it and eventually apply it to a future version.
It's your interest to advertise the Idea in order to increase the number of votes (I would vote for it).
There is another similar discussion in the forum (How do i change the location of 'Mobile Downloads.lrdata' ?), I am posting the same answer there.

  • How can I change my "Home directory" folder name?

    Hello, everyone.
I was given a pre-owned MacBook Pro that's running OS 10.6.8.  How can I change the name on the Home directory folder?  I was able to change the Administrator Account settings, but the Home directory still shows the previous owner's name.  It bothers me a bit, though, to see the previous owner's name still come up on the Home folder.
I came across the instruction listed below, but I can't get past step 4.  It instructs me "rename it just like I would rename any folder."  I can't seem to rename it, though.  The cursor doesn't come up when I click on the folder name.
For Mac OS X v10.5 or later
    Enable the root user.
    Log in as root.
    Navigate to the /Users folder.
Select the Home folder with the short name you want to change, and rename it just like you would rename any folder. Keep in mind that the shortname must be all lowercase, with no spaces, and only contain letters.
Use the Users & Groups pane (Accounts pane in Mac OS X v10.6.8 or earlier) in System Preferences to create a new user with the Account name or Short Name that you used in the previous step.
Click OK when "A folder in the Users folder already has the name 'account name'. Would you like to use that folder as the Home folder for this user account?" appears. Note: This will correct the ownership of all files in the Home folder, and avoid permissions issues with the contents.
Choose Log Out from the Apple menu.
Log in as the newly created user. You should be able to access all of your original files (on the desktop, in Documents, and in the other folders of this Home).
After verifying that your data is as expected, you can delete the original user account via the Users & Groups pane (Accounts pane in Mac OS X v10.6.8 or earlier).
    Disable the root user.
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi everyone,
    I followed this https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3872
and got to the stage of having renamed my Home folder with the new name but the Home folder is STILL designated to the old name?
When I try and create a new user with the new name, I don't get asked if I'd like to use the existing name as Home folder, I get told I can't use the newname because it exists already - thats the end of it - no further options.
So to clarify - I now have oldname folder STILL assigned as Home folder. A newname folder with all my stuff in - apps, desktop, etc etc but this is just another user folder.
Interestingly at login stage, the oldname folder isn't an option. I think I've confused the system somewhere by titling things differently at some stage in an attempt to rename Home folder.
I'm running Mountain Lion (as of yesterday) and because I've kinda lost the use of my User folder as the Home folder, can't get to my Time Machine. I'm in trouble but I'm trying not to panic. Would appreciate any help!
