TS4002 Can't send emails on web version of icloud

For some reason I get the "Cannot send messages: message cannot be sent at this time" message when I try to email someone from icloud using the web, I've tried google chrome & safari, same thing. I also can't save to the draft folder either.
I can send an email on my iphone with no problem on my iclooud email. but if I can't save it to the draft, it means I have to basically retype the whole thing on my phone & its something I don't intend to do. Its been like this for weeks now & i have no idea why did this is happening & when apple will fix it.

That has nothing to do with the iPhone, it is a limitation of your email account.  Check whatever your email provider has set as daily limits.

    I have a iCloud mail account setup in Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010.
    I can receive emails but I am unable to send out email. I received an error message 0x80042109 and I've tried several options by clicking SSL/TLS/None/Auto with (Outgoing server 25). Still can't work.

    I had this problem.  I held down the power switch to power down completely.  Takes a few seconds.  Then use the power switch to turn on.  Might take a couple goes.

    My son is trying to set up his work based website email to his ipad home screen so he can directly send and receive emails.
    He has set it up and he can receive emails but he can't send emails.
    His web based mail (Mr Site) does not have an outgoing SMTP server and I have contacted BT who were less than helpful, he just said to use mail.btinternet.com but he still can't get it to work.
    Any ideas please?

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
    He will need to go through something called address verification using his BTinternet email address. See my shortcuts, option 0e. IN essence it needs the work email account associated with a BTinternet email address, then in his iPad mail client (or indeed via BTYahoo! webmail) he should be able to send emails "From" the non BTinternet account. Webmail is easy, but in a mail client it needs extra steps to get the smtp area correct.
     If he doesn't have a BTinternet email address, then he will need one - which can be a sub account off of your primary.

    Usually 'authentication required' means that you need to submit a username (or e-mail address) and password to the e-mail server, when sending a message. This logic is not different between Outlook and Thunderbird, and even with the latest and previous version of Thunderbird.
    Of course you can try the previous version again to see if it solves the problem, although you'll be less secure because you would be missing the latest fixes.

We changed it when we went to another location, and can't get it back. Telus support can't fix it. Neither smtp.telus.net NOR mail.telus.net works for Outgoing server to send mail. Please help!     Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

    Hi all,
    I've got an issue with Mac Mail can’t send email from 123-reg accounts.
    I know there is a lot of articles on simular matters and some I have tried out with no luck, others are just speaking a whole other language.
    Any help would be greatly recived, here's my situation below:
    Running a iMac 2.8GHz Intel Core i5 on OS X 10.8.3
    I’m using 3 accounts on Macs Mail client, one is my iCloud account that is working fine and the other two are my 123-reg accounts that I use for business purposes. I’ve been working like this for a couple of years now and about 6 months ago I upgrade my operating system from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.
    2 or 3 months ago I randomly got a problem where I was unable to send any emails from my 123-reg account, I could only receive emails. I checked my settings and they were all correct and unchanged so I attempted to delete them and recreate the account but with no such luck.
    I then decided to check if it was a problem at 123-regs end and attempted to log into web mail. This worked and was able to both send and receive emails so eliminated that possibility.
    I also have these accounts set up on my iPhone, so checked if there was any issues and everything was working fine. I then checked my iphone details and made sure the same was on my desktop and still no such luck.
    I’ve tried out some of the articles I’ve found on here (the ones written in plain English) still no results. I’m not very IT illiterate and just wondered if anyone else has got any ideas, whether there is something specific with 123-reg accounts and Mac Mail?

    I just had another hunt around looking at posts and discovered that it was because I recently changed to BT Infinity and they had a block on.

  • Can't send email from internal server, same domain name as external.

    We have a domain "example.com", hosted externally, for email and a website.  We are thinking of hosting email 'inhouse' and have setup a dedicated subdomain on a 'fixed' IP, "mini.example.com" for AFP services mainly. mini.example.com provides DNS internally, its primary zone is also example.com. All access to the external web goes thru' a modem/router that the server is connected to. We have to set an A record for www access to our website.
    In our testing to migrate email, the internal setup works fine, until the switch over.  Now we can receive mail to the mini server, but can't send any out.
    We instructed our webhost provider to set the CNAME mail.example.com to point to mini.example.com and created a cPanel MX extry mail.example.com, 10 priority.  Previously, the external host had CNAME as mail.example.com to example.com and MX as example.com, 10 priority.
    Since the implementation of the CNAME change, we can't send emails out and they get stuck at the outbox waiting. Client Mail app, says to check for port and SSL and account settings.
    Any idea where we went wrong here and what we can do to get emails out? We could go to each computer and point-off the DNS to office IP, but we rather not.

    I got in this am to find Mail.app could actually send out emails and I'm stratching my head wondering what happened yesterday.
    SMTP server addresss was manually set to mail.example.com for all accounts. In trying to get things to work, the mail setup was redone again by "Accounts", in Systems Preferences, when Login is clicked on, and mail was automatically given a SMTP as mini.example.com instead of mail.example.com.  I'm guessing that that could be where the initial 'inside' problems were, given that it had a 0 answer to the MX query. Or then again I wasn't patient enough.
    Just for completeness, and if there's something to learn from here, these are the dig results for example.com as seen from within the office network.

    1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
    2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
    3. Do you use MobileMe/ iCloud or another server based sync solution like Google or Yahoo?
    4. Do other changes to synced information like Address Book content sync successfully back and forth?
    Based on your description it sounds like you have a 1 way sync issue.  Events sync fine between the iOS devices and fine from the computer to the iOS devices but not from the iOS devices to the computer.
    Try:
    Backup your computer and iOS devices before doing anything else:

  • Thunderbird can't send email to addresses in Address Book because of formatting error

    My Thunderbird can't send email to an address picked from the Address Book. It gives the following error:
    "An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.1.1 <"name@telconame"@telco.com> Unknown recipient. Please check the message recipient "name@telconame"@telco.com and try again."
    You can see that Thunderbird has garbled the name/address pair: "name@telconame"@telco.com" so that it's unworkable.
    If I type the email address by hand, it sends the email OK. But it can't retrieve an address from the Address Book without garbling the name/address pair. Win 7, TBird Version 32.0; it's the same in SafeMode.
    Any ideas?

    Make two Address Book entries for him; one for each of his e-mail addresses. Make a new Address Book group and put both of his entries in it. When you send him an e-mail just type in the name of the group in the To: field.

    The "View as icon" option shrinks the photo to an icon in the sender's Apple Mail, but how it appears to the recipient varies dependingy on what e-mail client he/she uses.
    Using Apple Mail 5.0 (the Lion version) at both ends, the sender can use the "View as icon" option to shrink his view of the photo to an icon, but the recipient also using Apple Mail 5.0 still sees the full photo in line with the message text. The recipient can then use the "View as icon" option to shrink it to an icon, but I don't think that's not what jackofarabia is looking for.
    As far as I know there is no way in the current Apple Mail to do what jackofarabia wants. There should be, but there isn't.

    I upgraded to version 4.5 of the device software for my 8310 Curve and now I can't send emails (recieves OK). I can't seem to access the email settings. When I go to the Setup Wizard it gets to the date and time page and the next page returns a "404: Not found" error. If I go to my 'Mobile Email Settings' it doesn't recognise my username and password (grrrrrr). Any suggestions that don't involve reinstalling the original software?

    4.5 device software for the 8310 has not yet been released for Vodafone UK.  Chances are you have a development copy of the OS and it likely contains bugs - the reason why it is not released publically. 
    What happens when you try to send an email?  If you get a red X, open the message with the red X and it will give you a message status, post that here or type it into the BlackBerry Technical Solution Center

    Hi,
    I can't send email from my Iphone5 using my DODO mail account. Get a message server not responding or similar. I can send using my Outlook account, just not the dodo account. Have spoken to Apple who claim the issue is with DODO as I can send using Outlook. DODO say that if I can send email using my PC then there is no reason I shouldn't be able to send using mobile. I have checked settings, ports, passwords, mail servers, even deleted & re entered accounts but no luck. I have entered multiple outgoing mail servers using my ISP and mobile providers server. Has anyone had similar problem and if so can you tell me the solution.

    Try logging on to your email via your web browser, if you are able to, the check your setting for your mail server ports on the iPhone.

  • I can't send emails with my Ipad4.

    I have used my Ipad4 for a couple of weeks, then suddenly I can't send emails any more. I get the response that the username or password is incorrect. Well, actually they are correct. So I have checked and double checked. It seems to be a problem related to this specific Ipad. My other Ipad3 works fine, as does my Macbook. The web based email interface is also fine, so this is not a problem with the username or password. I also receive email fine, so it is rather strange.
    Could it be some software glitch? Have others had this issue or have any idea's?

Well, it does not sound like this is a common problem, so maybe it is unique to my Ipad somehow.  As mentioned earlier, i have no issue on another Ipad, not a 4 but a 3, with exactly the same settings. I have tried to delete the account and set it up again several times with and without airplane mode turned on. I use Virgin Media for my email here in the UK. They had no suggestions so far that could help. They correctly point out that since I have no problem with the other Ipad and the web access, it seems to point to some Ipad issue for the Ipad 4 or maybe just my particular Ipad.
    So here are the details: This is a so called Imap account, so in order to set it up on an Ipad, one has to choose "other" in the email set up screen. One of the reasons my confidence is somewhat shaken in the software is that I get a message claiming that this feature is for O2 clients only. That is to be ignored however, and when one presses next, one then gets the choice to set up the account as Imap only if the Ipad is in airplane mode. I am sorry, but that strikes me as slightly clumsy, and it took me many hours of self tech help before I found another user who thankfully had discovered the aiplane mode trick to get the Imap option. Nevermind, now I set up the account as specified, which is:
    Host: smtp.virgin.net
    User Name: [email protected] (example)
    Password: correctly entered
    SSL:on
    Authentication: Password
    Server: 465, but 25 is also supposed to work
    With all this, I can happily say it works on my Ipad3, but not my new one. Oddly as mentioned earlier, it worked for a month or so, then became intermittent, and then failed on my Ipad4. So it has actually worked even on the Ipad4.
    It is all very frustrating. Maybe I will take it to the store and have them check the device for faults, unless of course there is some guru who can help? Any suggestions are certainly welcome.
