How do I delete my iCloud email account? I do not want it. Apple now is forcing its use where before it was using my Windows Mail. for example, I have iCloud installed on my Windows 8 PC. I am sharing Contacts with my iPads and iPhones. I use to be able to to open Contacts on my PC and click on an email address and the Windows Live Mail program using my primary email account would open to compose and send a message to the Contact's address. Now when I click on an email address iCloud Mail opens. So, I want to delete the iCloud mail account since I will not be using it and hopefully Contacts will again default to my real mail.

I told you that you cannot delete an iCloud email account in my second reply, immediately after you clarified that you were referring to iCloud.com, not the Windows Live Mail application you actually mentioned in your first post. I also provided a link to instructions showing you how to restore the connection between Windows Contacts and Windows Live Mail.
I cannot help but note that it is absolutely absurd to not allow the deletion of an email account in an ISP or Cloud environment.

You can't change the icloud email address without creating a new iCloud account. You can, however, create an alias address with the correct spelling. It will operate just as your current address does, receiving email in your curren iCloud inbox. Just don't ever delete the alias or you won't be able to reactivate it. You cannot delete an iCloud account from the server, but you can remove it from your phone by going to Settings>iCloud and clicking 'Delete Account' (this does not remove the account from the server).
You should then go to http://icloud.com and delete any data there you want to, and then just ignore it.

OK that's what Ithought you were talking about.
You can't actually delete an old Apple ID. You just sign into the new ID to use that one. Your old ID must be popping up because you used it in the past to purchase content with it. You cannot transfer purchases from one Apple ID to another Apple ID. You have to continue to use the old ID if you want to update content that was used to purchase with that ID.
Did you sign into your new account in the settings and you can't stay signed in?

You have to open iTunes -> click iTunes Store and login with the old email and then logout -> Now login with the new email that you want and connect your iPhone via USB to your computer and synchronize your iPhone with new email.

I Have an iPhone 4s that I installed iCloud on during the setup process. My iPhone, iPad and PC sync properly. However, my iPad email settings display both the MobileMe and iCloud accounts (with identical settings to each other). Sometimes, the iPad receives duplicate emails, but not all of the time. Also FIXED, after reading Ned the Nerd's solution to delete the iCloud account, which is actually the account I wanted to keep. After I deleted the iCloud account in the Mail/Contacts/Calendar settings, I was able to go into the MobileMe account, turn everything off, and then I was asked if I wanted to delete the MobileMe account. After deleting the MobileMe account, I clicked back on the iCloud icon, still displayed in the settings, and logged back into iCloud. All of my email, contacts and caledars restored perfectly, and now there is only the one iCloud email account displaying in my email app. Thanks Ned!

While you can turn off or delete an email alias that your create, you cannot delete an @me.com or @icloud.com address. You can only choose to stop using it. If you want to stop using iCloud email completely, go to Settings>iCloud and turn Mail to Off.
