TS4002 I cannot create an email alias

Okay.... I've been an Apple Mail user for a while since the .Mac days. I now have iCloud. I've been grandfathered in to ll the new email addresses, so I have an @mac and @me.... but I WANT an @iCloud address. I thought IOS6 would bring this joy to my life, but aperently not. Now, I can't even create an alias on my account. I get an error that says, "Cannot be saved at this time"
What's the deal here?!?

You'd get a different message if the address was already taken. The error you are experiencing has been reported numerous times, but I would assume that it was intermittent or we'd be hearing a lot more about it than we do. I'm afraid your only options are to try from time to time, or to attempt to navigate the shoals of the iCloud support system and ask them whether they can fix it.
To contact  Support: if you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:
http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/
You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support and you may be asked to pay a fee - if so you should point out that this problem is their fault and you shouldn't be charged.

  • How do you create an email alias using iOS device

I want to create an email alias, I have a MacBook and an iPhone but I can't figure out how to do it on either. As far as I can tell the only way I have been able to access the icloud mail preferences is through icloud.com however you can't access icloud.com on any iOS device. I've been trying to figure it out all day so would really appreciate any help

You should be able to access it from Safari on your MacBook, or another computer.
You can only access it on an iOS device if you use an altrenative browser like iCabMobile Web Browser, and set the Browser ID in the app's settings to Safari (Mac).

  • ICloud will not allow me to create an email alias

Although I have only 2 of my 3 alias opportunities taken, I have been unable to create a third alias. I have probably tried over 100 variations on my name. After getting the message "This Alias is Not Available" EVERY time, I began to get suspicious that the cause was NOT because those addresses were in use. To test my theory, I then tried a series of completely random entries, for which I received the same "This Alias is Not Available" message. HELP!! I am in desparate need of a new alias to replace a closing email account, and don't know how to work around this problem...
    Thanks!

I'm afraid I've never head that one before and don't know a solution.  You might want to try again tomorrow in case it's a temporary server issue.  Otherwise, you'll probably have to contact Apple for Assistance (http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/).

  • Can't create new email alias, still getting the 7 day message...

Ok so about two weeks ago I deleted one of my email aliases so I could create a new one... now I am passed the 7 day wait to create a new one but I am still getting the *You must wait up to 7 days to create a new alias*...
Any one else having this issue?

    justBen -
You have to take this up with your email service provider, whoever it is. It is not something you change on your Mac. Email addresses & aliases are created/maintained by your service provider.

  • Creating/Deleting email alias's

I have been getting ton's of obscene email sent to one of my email alias's. I just went into my MM account to delete this alias and I could not even find a way to create one, much less delete an existing one.
Can someone tell me how this is now done?
    Thanks.

    Sweet, sweet, sweet!
Thanks, Niel! Before I started this thread I was thinking how nice it would be if a user could toggle his/her email address on/off for temporarily block junk mail. Now I know.
Pizza's on the way. Pepperoni OK??
    Thanks again.

  • Cannot add 3rd Email alias

    Hi,
I tried to add a 3rd email alias to my icloud account. Everytime I get an error that I have to wait 7 days to add a new one. I moved my .me account with 2 Aliases on the icloud release day and after that I dont add or delete an alias. The move is over 7 days ago, so why I can't add a 3rd Email Alias?
    Thanks
    Alex

Had exactly this problem for about 4 months. Some folk have been able to do it, some still can't. I finally had some movement in a way. It refreshed and said I had a full amount of aliases again. Which was a bonus cause I didn't think I had one of them.
Now I deleted another one to make room again, and it keeps coming back each day. Hurrah! Or not. This has been buggy and not working properly for ages and still no solution or response on how to make it do what it is supposed to. I'd have rather stayed with me.com and paid yearly for it to work rather than not pay and it not work properly.

  • Email alias

I have been trying to create an email alias on icloud for 3 days and keep getting the error "CANNOT SAVE ALIAS this alias cannot be saved at this time."  I have 1 of 3 aliases remaining.

Everyone is having this trouble at the moment. If you look at the pane for creating aliases you will see that it has the '@icloud.com' suffix. These addresses are only now becoming available, and are being rolled out to subscribers over an unspecified period of time. It will be an @icloud.com alias, not an @me.com one, and so it seems possible that you won't be able to create an alias until your account has been upgraded.
Incidentally your signature says you are running 10.6.1 - is this in fact the case? If it isn't, please bring it up to date to prevent possible confusion when people answer your questions.

  • How to send from an email alias in Outlook?

    Hi,
We have created several email alias for some partner teams here in the UK but shared with Romania (i.e [email protected]). We have approval for them to work externally and this seems to be working fine.
The question is how to send from this alias in beehive/outlook? In Thunderbird it is possible to do this via Tools > Account Settings > Manage Identities
Have briefly searched these forums but cannot find anything so any suggestions appreciated.
    Regards,
    Rich W.

    Rich,
If this is a generic account then it should have a login to the system involved and Thunderbird allows the identity swap on the fly - To get Outlook to do this you would have to set up a new Profile in the Windows Mail app in the control panel and then close Outlook and re-open it with the new profile. Outlook unfortunately has no simultaneous access to different accounts - it is a single stream app (Microsoft decided on this approach, not us, so we have no control).
Sorry, I can't be more help.
    Phil

  • How to convert a new Apple ID into a iCloud email alias?

    Howdy,
Just a few weeks ago, I created a second MobleMe accout for my daugher via my MobleMe family plan. The reason was that her orignal MobleMe email ([email protected]) address seemed a bit childish to her and she wanted a new "more professional" sounding address. At first I tried to create an email alias, but discovered that new alias creation had been stopped due to the looming iCloud launch, so I used one of my unused family plan accounts to create "[email protected]." Took some fooling around to get mail on her macbook to send & receive from both... but it worked and I was once again, the family IT hero!
Okay, now that iCloud has launched, and we are converting over to iCloud I wondered what to do about my daughters two email addresses. I looked around for information about just converting both xxxx & yyyy to iCloud, so my daughter could receive both emails from the same iMac mail account... but I can find nothing about that option on the inter tubes so I figured that option was unsupported.
Next I wondered if email aliases had come back, and they have! Cool, just convert [email protected] to an alias of [email protected]... but alias, you can't delete an Apple ID and I assume that I won't be able to create [email protected] as an alias as it is it's one Apple ID (otherwise, there would be a really big security hole in iCloud email ;).
What to do? Well, I can think of the following options, in order of what would be most user friendly to my daughter:
    1. Convert [email protected] to an alias of [email protected]. This would be nice because I could simplify my daughters email set up (just one account, not two). Trouble is, I don't know how to do this and/or it just can't be done.
    2. Create a new alias for [email protected]; [email protected]. Kind of junky as "yyyy" is pretty obvious (if you knew what it was), and [email protected] is already "out there."
    3. Create two accounts on my daughters macbook; one for [email protected] and the other for [email protected]. This ***** because she'd have to logout/login to check mail on both accounts.
So... their must be a simpler way, right Apple? If so, please advise!

  • Add an email alias for user by script

As one step of a experiment, I'd like to be able to create an email alias for an existing user by script.  Is there a way to add an alias from the command line?

I have the same issue.  I'm a long long time Apple mail users even back to the @mac.com days.  I have tried for more than a month to add an alias to my main @mac.com/@me.com/icloud.com address.  It simply will not allow any additions.
Use to be you added an alias via the iCloud.com accounts settings, but now you have to use another entry to access the account ([email protected]).  That site will not allow me to add anything.
    Any ideas?

  • IPhone 3G Cannot create mail account from IPhone.

Cannot create Pop email account from IPhone. Keeps asking if I want to try to create the account without SSL, whether I answer yes or no. I have to create the account via ITunes.
    Any ideas?

No error msg. Just keeps asking over and over again, if I want to try to setup the account without SSL. If I answer yes. It try's again for 2 min, the repeats the question. If I say no then it takes me back to the config screen for the account where I can select cancel. Never creates the account or give error msg.

  • If an email alias was deleted, is there any way to get that alias back?

I was a .Mac and a MobileMe user and long ago I had created an email alias and subsequently deleted it. Is there any way to retrieve it for use now?
As an anecdotal observation, I have wondered why so many providers do not recycle (or allow to be reclaimed) deleted user names, email addresses and email aliases. It seems a waste to permanently "retire" such valuable and limited resources. I admire Twitter for allowing such flexibility.

There have been complaints of this sort from people trying to create completely new aliases: I don't know whether this is the same thing or is related to yours being a previously existing on.
You could try MobileMe Support (I know you're on iCloud but there is no free support for that unless you happen to have AppleCare, and MobileMe Support have helped some people). Go to http://www.apple.com/support/mobileme/ww/ and select your country. In the next window click on a category to expand it, then on a subject to get a link to 'live chat'.

  • Email Alias Assistance

I have a few questions regarding the Email accounts I have with Verizon DSL.  I currently have 1 Primary and 7 Sub Accounts with my Verizon DSL account.  ( I believe Verizon offers a maximum of 8 Sub Accounts. )
I was able to successfully create an Email Alias with my Primary account.  However, when I try to create an Email alias with any of  my sub accounts, clicking on the link to do so results in nothing...... it is as if the " create alias " link is not connected to any action.
I sign on with any of my sub accounts and proceed  to the Accounts settings page and then to the profile page where I am presented with various options...... one of them being a subheading of Email Alias and the link to the right of that to " Create Alias " ...... but as I said above when I click on that link nothing at all happens.
So I have now called Verizon technical support 2 days in a row...... the latest being a short time ago...... about this issue.  The call to Verizon support yesterday was a complete disaster with the person having no clue as to what I was even referring to about Verizon Email alias.  The call to Verizon support today was a little more productive as the person did a remote session to better take a look at things.
However...... after the call to Verizon support today ( about an hour long ) the support person said she referred to the Network specialist and the outcome of that was my being told that there can be no Email alias made for /. attached to any of the Verizon DSL sub accounts.  That Only the Primary Email with the Verizon DSL account can have an Email alias made for it.
My main question is...... just for extra verification of what I was told on the phone today...... is that the case that a Verizon DSL sub account can not have an Email alias made / attached with it ?  I find htat odd because when I sign on with any of my sub accounts and proceed to the accounts / Profile page it lists an item for Alias with the link option to " Create alias "  Why would such an item be listed there under each sub account if an Email alias can not be made for any sub account ?
Thanks in advance for anyone who reads this and can provide me with the extra assistance / clarification on the matter.
             Andy

A couple days now have gone by and not a single reply to the question(s) I had...... disappointing.  Maybe the original post was too long of a read.
What I essentially wanted to verify was if a Verizon DSL Email alias can be created for a Verizon DSL sub account ?
Others who have tried doing such a thing without success could just say " nope...... a Verizon DSL alias can Only be created for the Primary account Email.
Or anyone who has successfully created a Verizon email alias to one / some of their sub accounts could say " yep...... a Verizon DSL alias Can be created for a Verizon DSL sub account " because they have done it.
Ok...... this time narrowed the focus of this thread to a single question in bold.  I guess I will wait to see again if it brings any responses......

  • Messages beta not allowing email alias

I just created an email alias for my sons account.
The account had no problem with messages, but now it won't allow me to also use his an email alias.
Anyone else have this or know a work around.
I also went to appleid.apple.com and tried to add the alias as a confirmed email, but it won't work.  I find it kind of strange.
thanks in advance for any help.

I am not sure what you mean by "connected with the Apple ID in use".  The email aliases were email aliases that I had with MobileMe and they carried over to icloud.  Email sent to either the original Apple ID or the email alias has always worked as expected.  The email shows up on IOS devices and my Mac regardless of whether the email was addressed to the original Apple ID or the email alias.

  • Cannot send an email from my alias Mobile Me account from the iPhone.

I have a Mobile Me email account which works perfectly on my Mac and iPhone. I created a an Alias Mobile Me Account on the web.
I am able to create a new email from the alias account on the Mac.
The iPhone will not recognize the alias account, I cannot add it or sync the account.
I cannot send an email from my alias Mobile Me account from the iPhone.

To all frustrated MobileMe alias owners who want to send email from iPhone - please go to the feedback area of the apple.com and leave messages regarding this issue. I had a lengthy conversation with a tech support guy who agreed that this is a needed fix - he said to initiate a grass roots effort - and that by all of us leaving messages it will eventually get attention and fixed. Why would Apple give us the ability to create alias's, use them on mobileme website, on our mac mail programs, but NOT the iPhone, which is the MOBILE device. Silly. Please protest!! Thanks.
