TS4002 incoming server

how do I set up a second email account using me or icloud>  I am having trouble when I try.  The incoming server section that says mail.example.com will not let me enter my correct info and when I try to go to the next section it states I can not move forward with a blank section in the incoming server so what do I do?

I am getting a prompt to not have my incoming mail server blank when trying to restore my mail after updating to 10.8. However the incoming mail server line in preferences is dim and will not let me add the incoming server information.
    What do I do?
    Thanks

Same with me p-02-imap.mail.me.com is greyed out.

  • Mail app setup issues... incoming server can't be set

Upgraded to Lion last evening and the OSX Mail app hasn't been able to download mail from my me.com account since.
The alert icon is displayed and the message states: "Alert: There may be a problem with the mail server or network.  Verify the account settings for the account or try again.  Failed to connect to iCloud server".
When I go to Mail Preferences and check out the account settings, the incoming server is set to "mail.example.com", not "mail.me.com" like it is on other Macs I have.  That field is greyed out and I can't change the server to the correct name.
Anyone have a suggestion for me?
    Thanks,
    Johnny

I'm sorry, but glad to hear I'm not the only one with the problem.
I'm still using iCloud on the web to get my mail with no other help coming from anywhere.

  • The space bar option disappears when I am typing in the IMAP in the incoming server I need the correct spacing, The space bar option disappears when I am typing in the IMAP in the incoming server I need the correct spacing

The space bar option disappears in the Incoming Server set up. I cannot type in IMAP: Port because I have no spacer options.

Thanks for your quick response. I am attempting to type in the Incoming Server box I need to type IMAP: Port 143 I can only type IMAP:Port143 which is the wrong spacing

I have been getting this too (for the last two days - on at least a dozen tries).
I am Running Win7 and already have three POP accounts.
All definitely have the incoming server pop.googlemail.com
I wanted to add a new IMAP account, so in T'Bird
    Tools.... Account Settings
Account Actions ..... Add Mail Account
    Filled in
    my name,
the email address ([email protected] - and in gmail this mail account
    was created as IMAP),
password (with a tick to remember this)
    ... continue
and it then detected the mail setup as IMAP,
    Incoming : IMAP, imap.googlemail.com , SSL
    Outgoing : SMTP, smtp.googlemail.com , SSL
    Username: [email protected]
but when I then clicked on Done
it said Error Creating Account - Incoming server already exists.
And if I then clicked on OK followed by Manual Config, it then showed
    in the Mail Account Setup
    Incoming: IMAP imap.googlemail.com 993 SSL/TLS Normal Password
and again if I then clicked Done it gave the same error message as before.
(and I have screenshots to support all of this).
But I do not know if someone has been working on a fix to T'Bird or googlemail, because just now when I did it yet again in order to make a final check that what I have been writing here is correct , this time I did NOT get the error message and the new account has been setup!!!!!
So do others find this has now been cleared too?

  • No option to change "Incoming server authentication method" to None on iPhone 6?

I just upgraded to an iPhone 6 and did a restore from my 5......   Problem is my pop e-mail account won't connect....  It still connects on both my iPad and iPhone 5, both of which are iOS 8.  The only setting that differs between the two that work and my new iPhone is under the "Incoming server authentication method" setting.  On the working devices, nothing has a check mark.  On the new iPhone, "Password" is checked, and I can't find a way to uncheck it (there is no "none" option).
Surely I should be able to work around this?

    Hello 83preston,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help troubleshoot email issues. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
Get help with Mail on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
"Username or password is incorrect" with POP3 account
Before you check your email on your iOS device, close any other email programs and close any webmail sites you may have open on another computer.
To see if your account is a POP3 account, use the Mail Settings Lookup tool or follow these steps:
Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and tap the account.
Look for the label POP ACCOUNT INFORMATION.
If your email provider offers IMAP, remove the POP3 account, then add the account with your provider's IMAP settings. POP3 communicates with one mail client at a time. If more than one mail client tries to connect, you might see a username or password error.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    BobbyD

  • Mail Preferences, iCloud.  Incoming Server (IS) info is gray.  Password can't be changed until IS info is input!  How to change?

I am in the process of changing my iCloud password.  I cannot do this in Mail.  And until I do this in Mail, I can't receive any mail in iCloud.
Under Mail Preferences/iCloud/Incoming Server.  Info is there, except it is gray.  I can't change it, or make it appear in black no matter what I do.  Nor is the info showing up in the Server information.  Mail Preferences for iCloud will not allow me to change my password until I input Incoming Server info !!  What do I do?
ICloud under Apple Support allowed me to change the password. But I'm in a rut until this is straightened out.  What to do?

Hi mate, thanks for the info, the original Server p09- etc remains in the box in Mail Preferences, but I went into
System Preferences Mail section and entered your suggestion in the imap box.
I ran a test email, IT WORKS!
You certainly deserve to double your status of Level 2 (12,355 points).

  • How do we set the incoming server on mail set up as it is grayed out?

Hi we are setting up an icloud email account, but we are unable to type in the incoming server field, how do we access this field?

You indicate that you are using OS X Lion. To set up iCloud mail, just open System Preferences > iCloud and tick Mail, so your mail account will be set up automatically on Mail

  • Trying to change back INCOMING server port number

I was trying to figure out how to SEND email via my iPhone 3G. I can send email fine while at home (using my wireless router), but when I'm out and about I cannot SEND email. How do I do this?
In trying to figure this out on my own I was reading about my Comcast email account that said to change the port number. I accidentally change the INCOMING port number from 110 to 25. So, I know it needs to be 110, but everytime I change it in the Settings to 110 it automatically changes it back to 25 after I try to retrieve emails within the Mail option. What's going on?
    Help!

To send email, you need to add cwmx.com under the smtp servers.
I'm having the same problem with setting my incoming server port to 110. I've been able to change it by opening Apple's mail client and editing the account preferences.
Then I went into iTunes and on the bottom of the info tab is a "Replace information on this iPhone" section. I checked the Mail Account tab and hit the sync button.
This did change my server ports to the correct ports, but I'm still having problems getting the iPhone's mail app to refresh using the new settings. I don't know how force the ports to change via windows.
I had to turn off the iPhone and restart it to get it to work. I also had to turn off the SSL under the advance tab. Little uncertain about leaving that setting.

I have an email account through yahoo. I am having trouble setting it upon my iPhone and can't receive or send emails!!!! I contacted Rogers and they said I need to find out the host name of the incoming server, in other words yahoos host name. Help!!

Yahoo's servers are notoriously unreliable. Use the "Yahoo" account type when setting it up. If it doesn't work, and you are positive the credentials are correct, wait a while and try again.
While you're waiting, set up a free gmail or iCloud email account.

  • Why can I not access ICloud mail on Mac Mail anymore.  When I reopen a new ICloud account, the "incoming server" box is gray and I cannot enter anything.   This happened the 3-4 times I attempted to start a new icloud account?

Was getting ICloud mail then it stopped.   Icons next to ICloud on my mac mail say it's a netweork error.   I tried deleting the iCloud account several times and reentering it but it always leaves out the info that goes into the "incoming server" box and there is no way to manually enter it as the box is grayed out.

Sign out of iCloud (system preference>iCloud) reboot and sign back in.

  • HT1338 where do I find what to put in the incoming server on Mail?

I have deleted all but one email which I never use trying to get the stupid thing to work now I am trying to add my accounts back to Mail and I cant find what to put in the incoming server. I can't find where to find what to put there or anything of help or a bit useful. What the heck is the stupid thing and can I have it tattooed to my harddrive so I never have to look for it again?

    Thanks Topher,
But..I tried that...It fixed the me.com but not the gmail or ymail I am not sure what the deal is. I am also having issues with my computer freezing up, weird icons (spotlight in the top right of the screen, a USA flag by the time and date) I Just got rid of the Flag by clicking on it and un checking the show icon box but I have done that everyday for weeks and it is just now taking it off the screen. I got rid of the spotlight bar by restarting my computer. Sometimes I cant even shut down my computer because Mail or Safari wont allow it even though I shut all the windows and even quit the apps.
Half the time It wont stay connected to the internet either... and when it does it runs so slow its mind numbing.
I am wondering if there is a trojan or something going on other than I cant figure out how to work Mail after using it for 4 years...O.o
    Any ideas?

  • My incoming server on Mail is greyed out and I can't change it

I have a MacBook Air 1.6 GHz, which is three yars old and is running OS X Lion 10.7.5. Suddenly today, I can't downolad emails on Mail from my MobileMe email account, even though it is working fine on my iPhone and IPad. I looked at the account preferences and the incoming server field is blank and since itis grayed out, I can't fix it. Any ideas on how I can get it working again?
Actually, Mail on my computer has been rejecting passwrods on other email accounts too. I have to keep reentering them. Any idea what might be happening?
    Thanks.

You're welcome.  If it keeps happening you may need to go to System Preferences>iCloud and sign out of your account entirely, choosing Delete at all of the prompts, then restart your Mac and sign back in.  This will delete the account and your iCloud data from your Mac but not from iCloud.  Your data will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in, after a brief delay as it downloads.
