  • Why does my e-mail keep freezing up?

I Got a new iPad air 2 and my e-mail keeps freezing up. I have outlook. what can I do?

Try resetting your ipad or force closing the app
    Reset
Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot. No data will be lost.
    Force close an app
Double tap the home button. When you see the app previews on the screen scroll sideways if needed to get the preview in question on the screen. Flick that preview up and off the screen to close the app. Single tap the home button or home screen preview to exit the mode.

  • Mail keeps freezing and locking mac

I'm having issues since updating to lion 10.8.2.  Mail keeps freezing, you force the application to quit and then you are unable to restart it.  the mail icon just bounces up and down without the application opening.  You try and restart or shut the computer down and it does nothing.  The only way to fix things is to press the power button on the back of the screen and manually turn it off and on.  If anyone can help that would be great????

  • OS10.7 mail keeps freezing -- force-quit doesn't help

The Mail app on my OS10.7.5 keeps freezing, if that's the right word. The little circle-things next to each account continue to go round and round, but nothing is downloaded, download speed quickly drops to 0KB/sec., and I have to force quit.
Cannot even click on anything -- including Preferences -- or I get a "no response" and…. have to force quit.
Reinstalled the OS, and that didn't help.
Each time I open it anew, it does, however, update what I think is the correct number of messages to be downloaded (currently at 216).
    Would greatly appreciate any advice!
    -Robert

    In case anyone's paying attention….
I've since tried removing (placing onto the desktop) the com.apple.mail.plist and com.apple.mail.plist.lockfile files from the Library>Preferences folder, but to no avail. It does allow Mail to stay open longer, but no inbox or any other box appears at all anymore in the Mail window (which I assume is to be expected), and when I attempt to go into Preferences or anything else, Mails stops responding and  I need to force-quite.
I'll keep searching around for information, but any help would be most appreciated...
    Thanks in advance.

  • Mac Mail Keeps Freezing!

Hi, I'm hoping someone might be able to help me. Over the last week I've been having trouble with Mac Mail for the first time. Mail itself opens ok, then I can literally send one email or send and receive once before the spinning colour wheel appears and the app freezes up. I have to force quit and try again.
I've tried repairing permissions from the OS disc and this hasn't made any difference? Anyone any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

This may not help, but I'd select each mailbox and use the menu bar item Mailbox -> Rebuild to rebuild each one. If you have more than one e-mail account, you'll have to open each mailbox with the "disclosure triangle", then select an individual mailbox.

There are large classes of Mac OS X problems where repairing permissions doesn't help at all.

  • Mail keeps freezing. Tried loads, nothing has worked. Please HELP!

Hi, My wife has an iBook and on recently updating to 10.5.8 we are having problems with the mail.
I can open Mail and it starts to download but on email number 41 mail freezes and stops downloading.
I have been through the forums and have tried the following:
Firstly i deleted email from the server thinking that email number 41 was the culprit. This didn't work.
Checked what email was important, replied to that, then completely cleared the server of every email! This didn't work.
Set up my wife's email account in mail on my iMac running 10.5.8. Email's dowloaded fine.
Checked the email preferences and they duplicated what was on my iMac exactly but it still kept freezing.
deleted the com.apple.mail.plist set up the account from scratch. this didn't work
Tried rebuilding the mailbox. This didn't work.
Repaired the disk permissions. This didn't work.
Set up a different user on my wife's computer. Set up the email account. This worked!!!!
Copied the com.apple.mail.plist from the new user to the original user. This didn't work.
    Any ideas what next?
I have therefore isolated the problem to my wife's account - not the server, corrupted email, computer or system update.
What's left to try? Please help!

Not having had much luck on the forum i contacted apple support direct and they sorted the problem.
1 file and one folder needed to be deleted.
    Delete the com.apple.mail.plist found here - Home/library/preferences/
Delete the mail folder found here - Home/library/
then restart the computer. Set up mail from the start and hey presto - no problems.
This suggests that my problem lay in the mail folder and there was a corrupt file somewhere.
***Please note in doing this you will loose every mail setting and email/attachment etc. so save/backup anything that is important to you. Also make sure you have your account information saved as this is lost too!*****
I have seen many threads on this problem and this is the first time i have come across the advice to delete the whole folder. I hope this helps.

  • Mail keeps freezing on opening so i cant open any mail.

I have mail set up on my comp and now everytime i open the mail either from the dock on from the harddrive when on my desktop the mail opens up but then freezes and i get a whirlyball. i cannot delete my mail account to reset it as it wont let me even get that far. this just happens on my desktop and not on the other desktops as i have managed to set my emails up from there but these are used by other people in the household. Has anyone got any suggestions? Thanks.

Since this method of getting info about the Mail app does not provide as much detail as would using About Mail if you could open the app, let's first create a New User Account, and as that New User launch Mail and try setting up one email account -- since you are using POP set to leave messages on the server for later download in your original user account. See the following if not familiar with adding a new user account (which I am sure you are):
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
The reason for doing this is to test the Mail app itself and the particular settings in the normal user account, and not to permanently switch to a new user account. Tell me if the behavior continues in that New User Account with Mail crashing?

  • Mail keeps freezing

I am beginning to think that apple has feewd me a bug to force me to go to lion
    anyway
My mail application has essentially died
I was having issues with the mail freezing with the spinning beach ball of death
so when i could i rebuilt the datanases
    cleaned out all the mail
    rebuilt again
    finally i deleted the plist
when i restart mail I still froze when I started adding accounts
so I deleted the mail  folder and teh plist reuild permssions and it still freezes
I don't want to go to Lion.... I have it on a mini and I think I like Lion will drive me back to Windows

I would be inclined to reinstall Mail as an optional install from your installation disk, then download and run the 10.6.8 Combo Update then reconfigure your Mail accounts.

  • My macbook pro (August 2010) keeps freezing when apple mail starts up. This happens every 2nd time I turn on my Macbook Pro. This forces me to hold down the power button to restart my Macbook Pro. Does anyone else experience this, and is there a fix? Thx

since upgrading to OS lion, my mac book pro (2010 August) keeps freezing (non responsive, requires restart) when i turn on my mac and the system is trying to open apple mail. while apple mail is attempting to collect new mail, the macbook pro freezes. this happens every 2nd time i try to start up my computer. this only started happening after i upgraded to OS lion. please let me know what I need to do to fix this. being forced to restart every 2nd time i turn on my macbook pro has been very frustrating. not sure if apple mail is also the cause of my macbook pro for being very slow during start-up (on the occasion the computer doesn't freeze).

I am having similar 'freezing' problems with many programs (Mail, Safari, iTunes, etc.). I have done a clean install of Lion instead of an upgrade when it came out. Perhaps something went wrong with my install? I'm thinking about wiping and reinstalling.

  • Safari keeps freezing when using yahoo mail.

Safari keeps freezing while using Yahoo mail. Have to close out or reset safari to regain access. Anyone else ever have this problem?

Why not use Mac Mail instead of Yahoo's web based mail and having to access it via Safari and deal with incompatibility issues?
    Open Mac Mail.
From the menu bar top of your screen click Mail / Preferences then select the Accounts tab then the Account Information tab.
Click +  (plus) under  the Accounts  panel on the left.
Type in your name, Yahoo email address and Yahoo password then click Create.
    It's that easy.
To view incoming mail or start a new mail message just click the Mail icon in your Dock. If the Mail icon isn't in the Dock, go to your Applications folder, launch Mail. Then click and hold the Mail icon in the Dock, click Option / Keep In Dock.

You may connect it to iTunes and update it from there.

  • Having trouble sending mail from iPad. It keeps freezing? Can anyone help?

I am having trouble sending mail as it keeps freezing mid send. Sometimes it takes a couple of days to suddenly send. Rest of iPad working fine. Can anyone help?

    You are welcome!
I enclose the link to show how 'this solved my question' and 'this helped me' work since there is no point in awarding either of them to yourself. As so can see, you do not get any points. It is oly a short read

my phone keeps freezing on settings, I cannot make or receive a call but everything else is working including internet and mail. where it should be showing the reception bars it is only showing a broken line. How do I resolve this?

If you are not showing reception bars, then I don't know how the data is working? Have you tried doing a reset? Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone restarts, check to see if it works. If that doesn't help, then try removing the SIM card, then reinserting it. If that doesn't help, then contact your carrier for assistance in calling.

  • Mail App keeps freezing and crashing after yosemite upgrade.  Cant create new emails.

Mail App keeps freezing and crashing after yosemite upgrade.  Cant create new emails.  Is there a fix to these issues?

    Hi,
When I read these Threads in Yosemite I am filtered to show only the one listing Messages (the App) as the App involved.
This form of tagging a Thread no longer shows up in the current software used to run the Discussions.
Did you use the Mail and the Messages tags ?
It is difficult as many Mail help items refer to emails and "messages".
With me posting to the thread it should raise it to near the top again and maybe someone who knows about Mail will post.
