TS4006 Find my iphone security

Even if i on the restrictions for "find my iphone", why do i still can off it in icloud settings... This means somebody else still can off the location of my iphone.. This is not added security.

You need to turn on restrictions and prevent a user from changing the state of on/off for location and Find My iPhone.

  • Find my iPhone - security breach?

    Dear Apple community,
Here is a Find My iPhone brain teaser. I have an iPhone and if I track it via Find My iPhone it appears in site A, a work place. That is where it should be. However, there are times when the device appears in a second site, site B, which is approximately 3 to 4 direct miles away from site A. When it is located in site B it is not a wide green circle suggesting its whereabouts. It quite accurately locates the phone inside a building which must be 25,000 square feet and set in its own grounds. The phone will appear there for a while and then after a new Find my iPhone search or a after some minutes the phone sometimes goes back to site A. I've observed this happening generally through the hours of 9am to 3pm and on several occasions. You might also like to know that site A and B are both in a city.
Firstly, the phone has never been in site B, ever neither is the route taken to site A any where near site B.  Secondly I am tracing its position from another iPhone, iPad and a MacBook Pro that are located over 15 miles away. They all show the same mysterious location issue. The only common factor between site A and site B is that there is a person, a colleague, who works part time in both sites. My concern is that there is some sort of security breach. Can anyone advise?
    Looking forward to your replies.
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
I have seen the same anomolies on occasion. From the following article:
Note: Maps and location information depend on data collection services provided by third parties. These services are subject to change and may not be available in all geographic areas, resulting in inaccurate or incomplete maps or location information.
    iCloud: Locate your device

  • TS4006 Find My iPhone; On the Macbook Pro, IPhone, IPad

    Hello Developers of OS team;
For much better security of losing your iphone or getting it stolen anytime, or forgetting to taken it at the stores or were ever, you know someone would take it not return it back.
So when the stolen IPhone is missing now, if the person that has can turn the Iphone off or disable the find my phone in the setting, then
your not able to find it. Say you get in an accident go to the hospital someone take the iphone away from you at the hospital and they tries to turn off
the iphone. There plenty of examples I can mention, that my suggestion below would be a great idea for everyone that has one, to be always beable to find your
at all times until the battery dies, or hope that or person charges it back up again to try get into your iphone again.
So my suggestion is to first; you need your password to disable the find my Iphone completely, there shoud be prompt for this and other settings that prevent
the iphone not to be found, and on another device like IPad, Macbook Pro etc. Next when turning your iphone totally off it's disable you can't find the iphone
so now you need to incorpate onto the OS to put a password in so you can't shut down the iphone completely. This way the iphone can found
all the time until the battery dies. Most would look for the iphone immediately anyway.
Hope you incorporate in one of the new release of the OS
    Thanks,
    -William Gill

This is already incorporated into iOS 7, due out this fall (see http://www.apple.com/ios/ios7/features/).

With the "Find My iPhone" app installed on an iPhone, can a Windows computer that has iCloud/iTunes be used to find the lost iPhone? Don't have access to another iPhone/iPad/Mac. There should at least be a web-based interface. Thanks.

There is. Click here and sign in.

  • TS4006 find my iphone keeps showing No Location Available.  Everything is turned on.

Why would iphone show no location available when location services is on , find my iphone is on?

    HI
i having SAME  problem WITH MACBOOK PRO's FIND MY MAC:

    icloud "find my mac" enabled,
and WHEN I TRY TO FIND MY MACBOOK ON icloud or "find my iphone app" on iphone.
    it says:

and one more thing, when i set "time & date" to "set automactic according to my location"
then the result is "unable to determine location at this time."
CAN ANYONE TELL, HOW TO MAKE LOCATIONS ACCESSED? IS IT WIFI SETTINGS? OR IS IT OTHER SETTINGS BEYOND MAC .???

  • TS4006 Find My iphone is suddenly absent from Icloud menu

Find My iphone is suddenly absent from Icloud menu
Can a theif turn it off? How do i get it back"

A thief can wipe your phone or disable find my phone, but only you can remove the phone from the list in the Find my phone app/application.
Find my phone and Find my Mac are the same thing, the name just varies depending on which device you are looking from.

  • TS4006 Find my iPhone is switched off

Nowadays everyone knows about the App Find my iPhone, so the at moment they steal it they can immediately switch off the Find my iPhone from the settings. and then what? it happened to a friend and at once his iPhone disappeared from the list of devices. what now? is there any other way to try to find his iPhone?
    Thanks in advance!

You can prevent someone from turning off the Find My iPhone service by using restrictions (in settings).  But a thief can easily keep the phone turned off or pull out the sim card to prevent sensing its location.  It's been said here before, the service is more apt for finding a lost device, not a stolen one.

  • TS4006 Find my iPhone didn't help at all

I lost my iPhone about 1 month ago. Then I turn on Lost Mode but the one who robbed my phone can still delete my account. Now I can't track my phone anymore. I still don't understand why I used Find my iPhone but it didn't help at all.

If the phone did not have a screen lock passcode they have access to all of your content. So you should change every password you ever used from the phone.
If you DID have a screen lock passcode (other than an obvious one like 0000 or 1234) your content is safe.

  • TS4006 "Find my IPhone" app on my iPad can't even locate the iPad I'm using. And I'm on a WiFi network and location services are turned on. Ideas?

I'm using the "Find my IPhone" app on my iPad and it can't even locate the iPad I'm using, not to mention the iPhone I'm looking for. They are both listed as devises, it just says they're both offline, which I know is wrong. I'm on a WiFi network and location services are turned on. Ideas?

Is Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Find My iPad turned ON?

  • TS4006 find my iphone app not showing in iCloud on my mac

downloaded find my iphone app onto my mac however not showing in icloud Works from my iphone

I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish by singing out.  If you sign out, this will turn off Find My Mac too since the iCloud account will no longer be active on your Mac.  It isn't possible to be signed out of your iCloud account and still have Find My Mac active on it.
