TS4006 iPad not on the Devices list in 'Find my iPhone' app.

Here's what happened. I erased my iPad. Then I tried to add it back using the same cloud ID. I've managed to add my MacBook and my iPhone but the iPad isn't coming back on the Devices list. Contacts, Reminders etc are all working fine, same iPad /iCloud

I would recommend doing one of two things:
1) As Gail suggested, go to Settings > iCloud > Find my iPhone, and turn it on. If you are going to do this, you should also go to Settings > General > Restrictions on your child's phone, and select "Don't allow changes to accounts." This will ensure your child does not enable other iCloud functions, which would cause your data to appear on each other's devices.
2) This is a better solution, in my opinion, since it does not involve sharing an Apple ID. If your child has their own Apple ID (you can create one at http://appleid.apple.com), you can download the Find my Friends app and add them on there. Are you sure? I have other devices at home. The only way I can make them disappear on the tracking list is by turning off location or resetting to factory settings.
I just want to make sure I'm not tracking a phantom that I will never recover :-(

My 1st gen iPad is not recognized by my PC, my iMac or my macbook. it's charged, connected directly to the usb port, shows the connect to iTunes screen, but is not in the device list on the pc or iTunes?? I have reset it repeatedly, and rebooted???

I am conneting my Ipad to mutiple Pcs, (windows and Mac) and it is not being recognized in the device list on itunes or the computers. the ipad is fully charged, I have reset it numerous times and it gives me the apple icon and then the "connect to itunes" message.... but dose nothing after that. I had it all set up and gave it to my daughter who tried to sync it with her macbook when it did this. We are using direct connections to the computers usb ports, the cables are new, ituens is newly updated on all pc's...
any ideas what the problem is??

The Devices Headings is on the left gray sidebar of iTunes when iTunes is running on the computer and the iPad is connected. I am using a very old version of iTunes but the sidebar is still the sidebar.
Here is a screenshot of the iTunes sidebar. I am at work and can't connect my iPad here but the Devices heading will be on the left side - under where it shows the Library, Store, Shared, etc.
If you don't see the iPad listed there - it is not being recognized in iTunes. Maybe you should look through this for help if the device is not recognized.

Try force closing the Find My iPhone app by double tapping the home button, locating Find My iPhone in the list at the bottom, tapping and holding it until it wiggles, tap to close it, then tap the home button again.

If your phone is lost and is shown as being offline, there isn't anything you can do to force it to go online. If it appears in the device list in Find My iPhone, you could issue a "Lost Mode" command to lock it. This would only be executed when it goes back online again, if ever. Elements no longer lists or finds my iphone 5s as device for import

The past 2 weeks, when I try to import photos from my iphone 5s, the device list cannot find my iphone. This happened in a prior version of elements which is why I bought the new version elements 11.

When I connect iPad to laptop it does not appear in the iTunes devices list. I have tried all the recommended Apple support actions reinstalling iTunes etc but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your tip. It didn't work in quite the way you outlined but it did help me to get my IPad recognised by ITunes. When I did what you suggested ITunes came back with something like ' can't connect to your IPad because the driver is missing, delete and reinstall ITunes to resolve this problem' . When I did that the IPad appeared in the Devices list.
I assume from this that the device driver was defective. Many thanks.
