If you enabled Find My iPod on it before it was locked, you may be able to lock it remotely as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f0165. If you didn't enable Find My iPod on it, there is no way to lock it remotely.

Okay. Here's the story: After downloading latest itunes and IPOD update, my IPOD slipped into DATA mode and is completely locked up. I tried to reset the IPOD, but it cycles through and ultimately shows a folder and exclamation point on the screen.
I then tried to restore the IPOD. That is when i got a message stating that the IPOD could not be restored because it "Can't Lock Ipod."
Any suggestions? IPOD is not recognized by computer as hard drive and does not show up in itunes.

You would have to ask the Police how they can find your iPod, if it's even possible. Your warranty with Apple covers defects in materials and workmanship, not loss.

Can an icloud locked ipod still be used with a bluetooth item an app?

I have a bluetooth fixator node (variable inc) that has to be run on ios and need the low energy bluetooth 4 and works in conjunction with 2 apps.
if I buy an icloud locked ipod touch woul I be able to do this?
I have no intention of using the ipod touch for anything other than this as I use other devices for most things.

It's impossible to bypass the activation lock. Without the credentials used to lock it or the active cooperation of the account holder, it's a brick.

Mono track locks iPod issue gotten worse?

So I've followed the long-running "mono track locks iPod" problem...you know, the one where a mono track (I think AAC, but I can't remember) is paused, the iPod turns off, and won't turn back on without a reset. Well, I just had it happen...while either at the very end or very beginning of a track that I ripped myself into 192 stereo AAC. I'm not sure of exactly where I paused it; I wasn't looking. I suppose this could be a random occurrence, but has anyone else had this happen when the track wasn't Mono?
General specs: iPod Photo 60; Firmware 1.2 (the one with the busted smart playlists). The tracks in question (if they matter) were tracks 4 and 5 of American Idiot ("Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "Are We the Waiting"). Any ideas? I tried to recreate it, but no-go.

I am having the same problem. It doesn't matter what podcast I am in. I usuall play a game (Sudoku - downloaded from itunes) while listening and the two of them running at the same time is impossible now. When I am holding it, it also seems as if I am feeling (and I do hear) the HD spinning. I am wondering if there is a bad spot in it. Can you reformat the HD in the ipod? I've done everything else the site suggests!

I'm trying to restore my iPod and on iPod Updater i click restore and it says "Can't lock iPod. Please check if any other applications are using iPod and try again". There are no other applications using the iPod. Please help me!

and this is after having a bad time with the first one now this. I am not really confident with Apple. I noticed no one has responded to this issue. And I really have logged in over 3 hours on hold to get a replacement. Not happy with Apple.

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Your only option is a data recovery company. Not cheap.

You'll need to connect it to the iTunes library you normally sync it with and restore it. If iTunes asks you for this passcode before it will let you proceed, connect the iPod to iTunes in recovery mode instead using the instructions in this Apple support document.

And my Ipod has 3 gigs of space used but no songs on it and i tried changing it to /K drive and that still didnt fix the problem. I'm afraid I have a password locked iPod 4. I've searched the forums and i've put it in recovery mode when connecting with my iTunes account. However, this is a new Mac laptop (my old PC laptop that I used to sync the iPod with iTunes is fried). This is the first time this iPod has been connected with this Mac.
I go through to clicking on restoring it and it starts the process then gives me this message:
"There was a problem downloading the software for the iPod "iPod". The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later."
I have tried quite a number of times and I keep getting that message.

ICloud find locked iPod Touch behavior

Scenario (real): Locked iPod Touch running IOS 4.x is stolen. Device is visible on iCloud and responds to commands, including wipe.
Issue: Touch was not connected to previously known WiFi network (home or AT&T public). It appears to have been added to a private, secured WiFi network.
Tests: Used 3GS with no SIM. Device will not connect to open WiFi AP. Device cannot be configured to add SSID without unlocking. Device does not appear on iCloud without active WiFi.
Questions:
1) Can a device connect to an open WiFi network (unknown, no password) for Find Me services while locked?
2) If not, how could someone access the WiFi settings to add a network without being able to also remove the FindMe functions and other services?
My guess is that there are two issues here. First, the FindMe feature is weak as it cannot connect to unknown open networks without unlocking (not a likely scenario in a theft). Second, the passcode lock, which was changed and reenabled remotely while stolen (it was on when stolen also) appears to have not prevented someone from accessing the device at least sufficiently to access WiFi settings. I am familiar with JB, and this device wasn't, but if a JB it seems like the thief would just remove all the protections including the lock and tracking features.

I believe it was 4.2 (it was current as of March/April of this year - it was stolen then, took a month to appear, disappeared until today, and then reappeared in the same location). I decided to wipe it today after speaking with less than helpful police officers (they would have liked to help, but unless I could give them the name and address (it only resolved to one of four apartments) they couldn't get involved. It is unfortunate that Apple doesn't use the AppStore and UUID to provide law enforcement with IP addresses that can be used to track via ISPs (yes, I tried that).

The device only had one configured WiFi network - mine - in addition to whatever Apple includes by default like AT&T. Using the location I was able to scan WiFi networks in the neighborhood of the thief - there are over 20, but no 'public' SSIDs. It is a college apartment community and everyone appears to be reasonably paranoid. I believe that given this my assumption is reasonable.
