my screen went black and the reboot will not work i still is in camera mode and taking pictures. i plugged it in and all i want to do is turn it off and reboot it.
You would have to restore it to remove the passcode; you can't open your phone using iTunes. But you should also be able to import your photos using your usb cord as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

I have a similar problem. I restored my iPhone 5 to the latest available OS. After completing the process the phone never restarted. She absolutely refused to believe that I got my phone in UFD mode and loaded any software on. I don't think it is a battery issue. The only solution I was given was to buy a new phone. My iphone 4s' screen is black, but it's still on and charging. I broke my lock screen button so I am unable to turn it off using the home button and lock button. Is there any other way my phone can restart or turn off ? Is my phone broken for sure?

Most intelligent people would not store such sensitive data on a device that could so easily be lost, stolen, or damaged. Even if they chose to do so, they would use the device as designed and regularly sync and backup that device as described in the User's Guide.
Have you done so? If you have, all of the data is either in iCloud or iTunes on your computer. Replace the device and restore the new iDevice with the backup of the old one. -

Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the display has a dark screen. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Display has no backlight or dark screen
Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
If the low-battery screen appears, charge the iPhone.

My iphone 4s screen went black, but Siri was still working and then a little bit later Siri stopped working. I then let the battery go dead and have plugged it into my laptop and it is not responding. I tried holding the lock button and home button for 10-15 seconds but that did nothing. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

My iphone's screen goes black and it behaves like that it is switched off.No switches work and the power button also does not respond.The ringtone do not also respond.The only way to switch on the phone is to press home button and power button together.
Pressing the Home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button together until you see the Apple logo and then release is called a reset.
If no change after a reset, the next step is restoring your iPhone. -

HT201210 My Iphone 4S screen went black but iTune is unable to finish recovery and software restore.
My Iphone 4S screen went black but the Iphone was still working. I was able to play music with the headset.
I went a head and put it in a safe mode to perform a recovery. iTune updated the software succesfully but is unable to finish recovery and software restore.
I went to the support page to see what suggestion apple has but I had done already what they asked (update software, unplug all other USBs, restart the computer, iTune and restore process).
Any suggestion what I can do?

Welcome to the Forums.
The flickering issue maybe due to a bad LCD cable or in some cases, a faulty GPU (the GPU is integrated to the CPU, and the CPU is soldered to the motherboard).
If there's still no image on the screen even after connecting an external display then you likely have a bad GPU.
In this case, I recommend you contact support for service (and also to see if there's a consideration that can be done on the warranty repair).

Instead of trying to restore through iTunes, use the Find My iPhone to your advantage.
Either go to www.icloud.com and perform a remote wipe of the device via FMiP, or download the FMiP app to another iOS device and do it from there.
A remote wipe will also restore the device back to factory settings. -

Iphone 4s screen went black and wont turn on... what do I do?
Does the Vibrate/Mute switch make the iPhone vibrate? Does iTunes on computer recognize the iPhone? If not, then possibly the battery is faulty or worse. If yes, then the LCD Display is not working, possibly the connector came loose and simply needs to be pressed down to the logic board. Of the LCD Display is faulty and the front screen assembly needs to be replaced. Or worse. If there is Warranty or AppleCare, make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send iPhone to Apple for resolution. If no coverage, Replacement iPhone is $199 or battery is $80 with Apple.

You may be wondering by now, iTunes is not detecting my phone, How do I do that?
Answer:- Just disconnect your phone from the computer. keep Itunes open on the PC. While holding the home button of the iphone plug the phone back in. Itunes will pop a message stating it has detected a phone in recovery mode. just follow the on screen instruction then to restore your phone. If your issue is still not resolved only an Apple technician can help you -
