is there any way to find my lost/stolen ipod if find my ipod is not turned on?

    Only the old fashioned way
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

  • Aperture running in Mountain Lion. Now when I start Aperture it asks me for a Serial Number . Where can I find this as it was a download and I have no packaging?

I recently purchased Aperture from App store and this was running fine until I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Now when I start Aperture it asks me for a Serial Number . Where can I find this as it was a download and I have no packaging?

I also have this problem! Mine is also not from the App Store. I had purchased Aperture 1, then upgrades for both version 2 and version 3. It's annoying as it is, but I also have to enter my previous serial number as well since it was an upgrade.
Following this thread in the hopes that someone will have a solution.

  • HT1689 how do you unlock your ipod when its disabled?

how do you unlock your ipod when its disabled?

    This is the same thing:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.
Just what do you not understand?

    Hi Nicole,
Try resetting it (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Silver Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). The Home screen should redisplay after the reset is complete.

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.
    Still no joy, see these.

  • How do i find a lost/stolen ipod touch with no cloud or serial number

Plz help I've lost my iPod and I don't know how to locate if there is any way like to call apple or something it has my name engraved in it but I don't know if that will help.

Probably not the underlying reason.  Scenarios:
    - People would scream privacy violation if Apple logged your serial number every time you connected to Apple's site.
    - You tell Apple that somebody stole your iPod. You find it the next day on the kitchen table and forget to tell Apple. You sell it to me 3 months later. I log in and then sue Apple and you when the police come to me about having your stolen iPod.
    - Apple sets it up so they report to you when somebody logs in with your device.  You go to that house and get shot by the thieves. You sue Apple for placing you in a dangerous situation.
There's no way any company is going to open themselves to this kind of mess.

  • With the recent info about a tracking device in the Ipods can Apple now help find lost or stolen Ipods

My son recent lost or had his Ipod stolen.  It seems that this would be a good selling point or PR if Apple could now say that they could help in maybe finding lost or stole Ipods.

No, nothing has changed at all.
    There is no secret "device".
Apple and Google and others simply collect data from PHONES. This is nothing new at all and has nothing to do with ipods.

  • Is there some way i can find my stolen ipod without it being connected to the internet?

My iPod touch (5th gen) was stolen. I tried to track it down but it says it is offline. Does this mean they deleted everything I had or can I still track it down without it being connected to the internet?

    No.
What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
    iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if it is connected to the Internet by Wi-Fi or cellular. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

  • TS4006 How do I lock my stolen iPod ?

How do I disable or lock my stolen iPod!   I know who has is it, but they won't give it back so I want to some how make it unusable for now!

If you have Find My iPhone enabled, and iCloud, you can log onto your iCloud account, open the Find My iPhone app, and lock if from there (if the iPod has an internet connection).
If you do not have Find My iPhone set up, or if the iPod is not connected to the internet, there is nothing you can do short of reporting it to the police.

  • TS4006 how can i locate a STOLEN ipod immediantly ?

How can i LOCATE a STOLEN ipod ?

It can only be located if you enabled Find My iPod on it before it was stolen.  It also would have to have be turned on with connection to the internet and still have your iCloud settings intact in order for it to be tracked.  (Unfortunately, criminals often restore them as new devices so they cannot be tracked.)
If you enabled this before it was stolen, you can try going to icloud.com on your computer to track it as described here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f2442.
