TS4009 I lost my folders I had set up on iCloud webmail. They disappeared what happened?

I lost my folders I had set up on iCloud webmail. They disappeared what happened?

Sounds like one unit had iOS 5, the other had iOS 4. Unfortunately it happens that some units are shipped from the factory at different times with different Operatin Systems installed.

my ipad automatically shut down and now i lost al savings and in-app purchases the battery was on 50% what happened and can i get my purchases back

    Hi there,
This seems very frustrating. An iPad can shut down randomally for many reasons, just like a computer can crash. If it begins to happen regularly, then do contact Apple, but there are no signs that your iPad is malfunctioning from just one shut down like this.
But, you should be able to get all your in-app purchases back. In some apps, there is a 'restore purchases' button, which will download all the purchases you made for free.
In some cases, you can tap to make the purchase again, and it will be downloaded at no charge, however this does not happen with consumable items such as coins and credits.
I reccomend contacting iTunes Store Support at the link below, they will take a closer look at your purchases and give you further steps on redeeming them. They may also refund you if they have been lost.

You can also contact the developer of the app, and report the crash and missing purchases. If you tell me the app, I'll give you the relevent contact in the developers.
Other than that, sorry for the problems, and have a great day,
    Nathan

My I Phone 5 just went completely dead....it had a pretty full charge..
What happened and how do I fix it?  It is only three months old

Restart device: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).

  • I activated an iTunes gift card, my iPod showed the amount available ($15) and after downloading 2 songs all I had left was $.04.  Any ideas on what happened to my funds or how I can find out where the rest of the money went?

  • HT4929 Even after I move to icloud, Lion download, etc., what happens to my saved email file folders? Do I leave them? Move them? Lose them?

I have downloaded Lion, etc, have a moblie me account that I have not moved to the cloud.
I have a lot of email folders with emails and links to websites, etc. that I don't want to lose.
After June 30th, will I still have these saved folders if I've moved to icloud prior to that date,
or do I need to move everything to a hard drive or a gmail account? Not sure what to do to
    save all of this.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
All your mail should migrate from Mobile Me to your iCloud Mail account. If you are at all worried, alt-drag the mail to a folder in your 'on my Mac' account to copy it, to serve as a back up.

  • Y Firefox is set to delete cookies on shutdown. What happens if power is suddenly lost: are those cookies still readable and operational?

I was logged in on Facebook when my laptop suddenly lost its power. Will someone in service cente be able to enter my account upon opening my Firefox after repair? Windows 7 account is password protected, password is unknown toservicemen.

Firefox should keep the cookies in memory during the session and only write them to disk if Firefox is closed if cookies are kept beyond the session or if there is an allow exception to keep some cookies.
Be aware that protecting Windows with a password usually doesn't mean much because it may be possible to boot the computer via a CD-ROM or USB stick and access local disks directly.

  • Mini died, had to reinstall OS X.  Want to know what happened.

I'm pretty sure that this is a Tiger problem, not a Mini problem. First, I'll give a short version, then a longer version for anybody who's interested.
SHORT VERSION: I was reading a web page with my Mac Mini, OS 10.4.11, using Firefox. The mouse cursor suddenly vanished, the keyboard wouldn't respond, not even command/opt/esc. After power cycling, I could not even log in. I tried every troubleshooting tip I could find in the Mini manual, and Mac Help on my MacBook. Details below, but nothing worked. I was able to start it in target disk mode. I used my MacBook to transfer essential files from the Mini to an external hard drive. Then I reinstalled OS 10.4.6 using Archive and install, and upgraded it to 10.4.11 again. Most things are working again; occasionally I run into a problem with a specific program and have to reinstall or re-configure. I'm using the Mini to type this.
I still want to understand what could have happened to cause this sudden crash. Probably "some kind of file corruption", but what could have made that happen, and happen so suddenly?
LONG VERSION: First, a little history. I've been getting little freezes on this computer for a couple of months now. Up to now, I've been able to unfreeze it by going into sleep mode (holding down power button for only a couple of seconds) and waking it up again. I have run Disk Utility verify and repair about once a month. It usually seems to find some inconsistencies in file names, hazy on details, and "repairs" them. Have not run fsck. I have been using the MacJanitor daily, weekly, and monthly checks; I know these can just be run from the command line too.
So the computer crashed as described above. The first time I tried to restart it (by power-cycling), it got to a login screen after about ten minutes, then froze for about twenty minutes before I got impatient and power-cycled it again. After that, it never even made it as far as the login screen. Every time, I gave it at least ten minutes to think it over.
I tried Mac safe mode, and gave that about twenty minutes to do something. It never got beyond the gray screen with the spinning progress disk.
As mentioned above, I opened it as a target disk, and used my laptop to backup files to a separate hard drive.
I knew that you could boot up from an install disk, but I missed the Mac help suggestion of running first aid from that disk until after I'd reinstalled the OS. So I missed a bet there, but I don't know if it would have clued me in to what had actually happened.
As mentioned earlier, I did an archive and install. I'm wondering if there might be some log files somewhere still on my hard drive that would give a clue as to what went wrong. Not really sure where, or for what, to look.
This whole sudden death thing has been very disturbing. I've had this computer for two years, and I'd like to be able to get at least another two out of it if I choose. I don't expect any OS to be perfect, but this shakes my faith in OS X a bit.
Rare though Mac viruses are, it occurred to me that I might be one of the rare unlucky ones. Since I didn't do a completely fresh install, if it were that, it could still be there. My Norton subscription expired, and it's been uninstalled. I've been using ClamX on the MacBook, but it won't scan the whole hard drive, you have to know where to look. So if I put ClamX, on the Mini, where would be a likely place to look for a virus?
I'm assuming that this was an OS rather than a hardware problem just because it was possible to restore, and everything is working again for now. System profiler seems to show all the hardware as it should be. If there are holes in that logic, it would be helpful to know.
I think that's about it. Thanks in advance to anyone with the patience to read through this mess.

A lot of things can cause corruption in disk directory data. And it can be a hardware problem with the hard drive, such as bad sectors. It can be caused if the computer ever lost power suddenly, like in a power outage, while it was writing data to the drive.
I still want to understand what could have happened to cause this sudden crash
As you said yourself, it was not actually "sudden." You were getting "little freezes" for a few months which progressively worsened.
Doing an +Archive and Install+ may not fix the problem, if Disk Utility still reports the problem when you do a +Repair Disk+ (while started up from another disk such as your installation disk). If it does not report the problem anymore, the problem was probably fixed.
A good way to stress test your hard drive and get rid of the problem (if it still exists), is to backup your personal data and erase the drive. But when you use Disk Utility to Erase (reformat) the drive, select the +Security Option+ to +zero out data+. This writes zeros to every sector. Bad sectors (if any) will be mapped out. If the hard drive has too many bad sectors or some other problem, this procedure will fail. Doing the +zero out data+ process takes time.
If it completes successfully, you should reinstall Mac OS X and your apps, and then restore your personal data.

  • Had to format my hard drive (no backup) - what happens to iPhone mp3s?

I had a problem with my laptop, and needed to format the hard drive and re-installed XP, iTunes, and everything else. Without any backups, I lost all my mp3s on the computer. They are now only inside my iPhone. I heard there really isn't an easy way to transfer mp3s from an iPhone to a computer. Does that mean all the songs in my phone are now "stuck" there? After all I can't 1) transfer them back to my computer, and 2) I'm not aware of a way to "delete" songs directly from the phone. The re-installed iTunes software doesn't "see" individual songs in my phone anymore - it only detects the amounts of space occupied by music.
If I start transferring songs again from my computer to the phone with iTunes, are my current songs in the phone going to be overwritten?

If you connect to your reformatted computer and sync, all the iTunes media content (music, videos, apps, photos) on the phone will be deleted. _The iPhone is not a backup device_ and you should always back up your internal HDD to an external HDD!!!
Having said that, you can get help from 3rd party software like THIS.

  • After updating to firefox 5 all my bookmarks are lost, and I can not find an old places.sqlite file. What happened to my bookmarks?

I updated from Firefox 3 to Firefox 5 (Windows XP), and all my bookmarks are lost. Maybe I should have thought of making a backup but I did not think of this and previously after an update I could find them again. Now I can not find my bookmarks anywhere, all files in my profile have a date and time from the new installation. Is there any chance of finding my bookmarks somewhere else on my computer? If so, where are they and how can I restore them?

Thanks for the answer. I read the article but it seems that the solution to my problem is not in there. Apart from the lost bookmarks Firefox is working fine, also I can make new bookmarks and delete them without problems. When I restart Firefox I don't loose them.
Apparently after installing Firefox 5 everything of Firefox 3 was deleted including my profile. The only bookmark .json file I have is from the new installation, which means it does not contain any of my old bookmarks. It now has today's date and time.
In my profile I have three 'places' files, now all with today's date and time:
    - places.sqlite (10240 kb)
    - places.sqlite-shm (32 kb)
    - places.sqlite-wal (865 kb)
But even though places.sqlite is large, it apparently does not contain my old information. Or could it? Then how to get to it?

  • I had 5 months of history which have disappear-what's this?

  • HT201317 what if my windows computer is not showing me the option to set up my icloud and photo stream, what do i do??

    how do i fix this??

Only the previous owner can help you.  They either need to provide you with the ID and password to delete the existing account, or erase the device and remove it from their account as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4515.  If they aren't willing to do that, return it and ask for your money back.

  • What is the use of delet set up table in lo **** pit, exactly what happenda

what is the use of delete set up table in lo **** pit, exactly what happened if we do the process, is all tables will lose their data which r available in functional module,
Why i'm asking this, because we assign functional module in LBWG.
    plz .......
    thanx
    vidhu

    HI Vidhu,
Initially we don't delete the setup tables but when we do change in extract structure we go for it. We r changing the extract structure right, that means there are some newly added fields in that which r not before. So to get the required data (i.e.; the data which is required is taken and to avoid redundancy) we delete n then fill the setup tables.
To refresh the statistical data. The extraction set up reads the dataset that you want to process such as, customers orders with the tables like VBAK, VBAP) & fills the relevant communication structure with the data. The data is stored in cluster tables from where it is read when the initialization is run. It is important that during initialization phase, no one generates or modifies application data, at least until the tables can be set up.
