TS4022 Device icon in itunes sidebar

Just got a message from Amazon does anyone have a clue as to what they're talking about?  Device icon in itunes sidebar.

I'm new to this as well. I've had to consume a beer over my last encounter. Here we go:
Launch iTunes.
Check for iTunes update-VERY IMPORTANT!!!
Hook up your iPod.
iPod will automatically come to life and reveal a red circle with a line through it and it will read, "Do Not Disconnect."
Depending on how fast your computer is, eventually a new screen will launch showing a picture of your iPod.
At the very top of the screen, iTunes will tell you that it's synching with your iPod and to not disconnect.
Near the top of the screen you will notice several tabs.
The first tab is where you can select how you want your iPod to respond each time it is connected to your computer.
At this time you should notice a miniature iPod to the left, where your folders are located, and in the middle of the screen. This icon should remain, however, on several occasions it has disappeared on me. This was fixed by ejecting the iPod and then connecting it again. There is an Eject iPod function and it is located on the lower right of the screen.
Other tips:
Most of friends have selected the option to manually manage downloading of tunes.
Take the time to review all the options (each tab)regarding how you want your iPod to respond to iTunes.

I have updated both my Itune and Ipad mini , however, when I click on the device icon (beside itune store), it disappear. Why does this happen?

I'm not sure why this would happen. But I think I did see another post a week or two ago about this. Have you tried rebooting your computer and resetting your iPad.
To reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Device List does not show up in iTunes sidebar

Movies that I have downloaded do not show up on my TV. I went to iTunes and checked the movies as unwatched...they still don't show up. So, I reset AppleTV they still didn't show up. So then I went to ATV>settings>Computers>Add Itunes to ATV I get a response. Go to iTunes and select ATV under devices...only problem there are no devices listed in iTunes sidebar. How do I get devices to show up in the iTunes sidebar?????

Network issues and settings can stop the device appearing in itunes, common candidates are the firewall and 3rd party security software.
However if you have already had the tv set up correctly and you are looking to link a previously linked library, ensure that all references to the previous link have been removed (settings/computers on the tv and itunes preferences)

  • Devices Icon Unclickable!

    Good evening to all,
a bit of time the finder of my OS X mountain lion get the following problem:
When I open the finder and in the sidebar under "Devices" I get my data partition (Mac OS Extended) and any pen drive and I click on, after a while i browse it OR especially when I move to a folder like "Documents "(which is part of the partition MAC), the device icon or PEN DRIVE or both, Device icon in the sidebar becomes gray and i don't click on it.
At this point, this is tha situation:
    - If I click on the sidebar shortcuts of folders that are on the device (eg. "Clienti" see photo): I can browse it;
    - If then the path bar (which gives me something like: MAC> Volumes> Data> clienti) I click on the Volumes folder is displayed for a second and then refresh the finder window showing the MAC disk root.
    - Plus, if I go directly to the MAC partition I do not see the "Volumes" folder
Sometimes as a solution to restart the finder (other I must restart my mac) and hope they do it again after a few hours (usually it is) and not after 10minutes ...
1000 Thanks to those who help me

    Try deleting the com.apple.finder.plist
You need to look in your user Library/Preferences for the .plist. Either hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command and select your user Library in your home folder or use the Finder “Go To Folder” command and enter ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist.  Move the .plist to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by loggin out/in and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you prefer to make your User library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
    Show User Library
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.5. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

First open iTunes (version 11). Then connect the iPad. Now is it recognized?

  • HT3819 Home Share issue: I have a Mac and Apple TV. Both are log into the same Wifi network and the same iTunes account (I can view purchased movies on AppleTV). Home Sharing shows 'ON' for both devices. BUT...AppleTV shows no computers. Itunes sidebar-no

Has anyone else found solution to Apple devices not 'seeing' each other on Home Share?  I have a Macbook Air (new Nov'12) and Apple TV (new Dec'12). Software updated on both. Both are logged into the same Wifi network and the same iTunes account (I can view movies purchased from iTunes on my AppleTV). Home Sharing shows 'ON' for both devices. BUT...AppleTV shows no computers... and ... Itunes sidebar does not have a 'Shared' area at all.  Help please as without this functionality, my Apple TV only provides portal to purchased (i.e. Netflix,...) content which I can get from Wii or Xbox.
I have already tried the following without success:
    1. Homeshare DID work the first day after I setup Apple TV... but the next day it has not worked since then.
    2. Powered off 30 sec then re-started (Apple TV & Macbook & iTunes login)
    3. Checked Firewall settings per Home Sharing troubleshooting guide (correct settings)
    4. Turning on Photostream in iPhoto and selecting iPhoto within iTunes and then checking to see if Photostream shows anything on AppleTV (it shows 'on' for my iTunes account but 'Zero' pictures found ... despite the >3,000 pictures showing avail in iTunes).
I also have 'Remote" app on my iPhone 4, with Home Sharing turned on (same Wifi network)... it has a very similar message as the Apple TV and same result that despite all devices having HomeShare 'on' they cannot see each other:  "Remote will automatically find the iTunes libraries and Apple TVs that have Home Sharing turned on using the account xxxx (it lists my correct itunes account name)."

I solved this by reset of the Wifi (unplug cable and power to both modem and wifi ... wait 60 sec ... plug in modem cable and power ... plug in wifi power and LAN to modem ... restart AppleTV and Mac ... Turn Home Share 'OFF' in iTunes then back "ON" ... it took ~60 sec for the AppleTV to pick up my Mac in computers.

  • I'm trying to sync my Ipod on my PC and there are no devices listed in the Itunes sidebar

I'm trying to sync my IPod 160g classic to my PC and nothing happens. I just updated to the newest version of ITunes so I could follow some help from the internet but I'm not seeing any devices listed in the ITunes sidebar. I admit I'm not that familiar with Apple products! Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you. Thank you. Now my IPod shows up in devices and has synced. Thank you!!!!!!!!
Problem still exists in that I just imported a lot of my cd's into my ITunes library in ACC format but the IPod will not sync the new stuff. I've checked that the IPod has the latest software and recently updated to the newest version of ITunes. After getting the IPod to sync I get a warning that a lot of files could not be found. They all show up in ITunes and play fine.
Is there a way to identify the location to the IPod where these songs are. They are in the same location as everything else on my external hard drive. I've spent hours trying to resolve this and would appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thanks again.

Get Rid of that Software... it is Not Needed... and likely the cause of your issue.

You need to plug the iPad into your computer that has iTunes installed on it, and activate it.
The User Guide would be good for you to read:

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next. You may have already tried some.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.
