My iPad seems "locked". Dialog msg says I haven't backed up on iCloud in 5 weeks. I touch "OK", but iPad doesn't respond?

if you can not unlock your ipad, you need to plug it into itunes and do a restore.
If it will not ben able to restore you need to put it in dfu mode (holding down power and home for 10 seconds untill the screen goes completly blank) and then itunes will say it is in 'recovery'. Try that -

Also for some reason my iMac in App Store has a very old user id for iMovie and iTunes that I had when I first bought my Mac Book Pro in 2009. Because of major problems with Google and other problems I changed my user id. But now when I get updates on certain apps the orginal user id shows up and of course I don't remember what password I used. I have several times changed the user id to my new one in the App acount but still every now and then when I get an update I have to go through the whole again. This time however it wants me to change the password and I am afraid to change the password just for the old user id because it may mess up everything.

I bought a new iMac today. I'm using migration assistant to move all my software, but the time just keeps getting longer. It says connect an Ethernet cable for faster data transfer. I did, but that doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?

My iPad is frozen with the message not enough storage. Options are close and settings but it will not respond to buttons and will not allow me to turn it completely off. How do I get past that message?
Delete some apps, files, photos, videos, movies, etc to free up some space.
How much space is your Other using? You may be able to reduce.

With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

Please can you help. My ipad is frozen. A box is permently on in the centre of the screen saying not enought storage. When i press on the words CLOSE or SETTINGS it doesn't respond. It won't slide to unlock or close down. The ipad is 16GB and about a year old. Any suggestions.
AnnmarieTHis suggestion also worked for my iphone! After a few warnings, the screen on my iPhone froze. there was no way to make phone calls or manage my iCloud storage or even turn it off. I deleted all the photos on my iphone, checked storage and nothing changed. So I purchased more storage, did the backup and still the screen remained frozen. To be sure, I checked that the new amount of storage was registered, it was but somehow my Mac showed the backup I had just performed (a couple of times) not having happened (it show the last one some 2 weeks before). Weird but I followed your suggestion (wish I had seen it before I purchased new storage) and Ta DAH!!! I'm back in business too. thanks!!

I have a new ipad2, and cannot verify icloud. i don't know if it has a wrong account name, or some setting is wrong.
You are not using iTunes Match are you? If you are, you have to turn it off on the device before you sync with iTunes but I'm not sure how that impacts manually managing music in iTunes. I would also assume that if you use Match, the songs would download from the cloud by using Match on the device.

This is sort of a long shot, but it's easy to try and won't hurt anything. Close all the apps on the iPad in the recents tray and reboot the iPad, then try again. I saw this work for someone else a while back that couldn't download or sync music, but I think it was probably just a coincidence, but as I said, it will not hurt to try.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -

The new update of IOS asked to keep a lock passcode. And i entered one which I forgot. I had to delete my Itunes from my PC a few weeks back due to virus problems. ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
