I suggest resetting the iPad with this procedure:
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Already connected to Wi-Fi. Leftit that way all night. Nothing happened. Still the same message. Can't even unlock. So now I can't use my iPad at all. HELP!!

You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it. -
I bought a lot at an auction in Crumpton Maryland and a dresser drawer contained an ipod shuffle. I'm not sure what gen it is. I plugged in headphones and really like a lot of the music. Much of it is live recordings of DC gogo music which I'm a fan of. Is there a way Can I back it up? When I plug it into my macbook pro the songs are all in grey tone (not bold). I tried looking thru options but can't seem to figure anything out that works.

Just got a refurb what next? Do I just plug it in and hope. I don't know what ver of windows 8 I have other than it is 64 bit. So do I just hook up the cables to the PC and ISP and hope the computer knows what to do? I have registered the PC with HP but have no key code for windows. HELP

I was about to turn off my iPad when suddenly it blacked out, and all there was was the apple and a solid white loading sign. I tried the home button and on/off button trick, but it didn't work. Are there anyways to fix this wihout losing all my data?
You mean that you tried this? Did you wait until the Apple logo appeared on the screen?
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If rebooting doesn't work, what you are seeing on the iPad is not very encouraging sight. You may need to restore the iPad. What you are seeing on the iapad screen is what you see on the when updating the device goes wrong, and usually the only fix is to restore the iOS.
If you backup your iPad, you can restore from the backup after you restore the iOS and you shouldn't lose anything - other than any data or files that you have created since your last backup. -

Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and you should be able to use that to reset the iPad back to factory defaults, after which you can restore or resync you content to it : Forgot passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled.

If you are saying that the iTunes logo and the USB cable are showing on the screen, then your iPad is in recovery mode and it will remain frozen until you restore it using the method described here,

My ipad is frozen with this message; "icloud backup. This hasn't been backed up in 27 weeks. Backups happen when this ipad is plugged in, locked and connected to WiFi". I have backed up this ipad on icloud SETTINGS a couple of weeks ago and through itunes. I've plugged into itunes and clicked on icloud back up but it doesn't change anything, it is still frozen. I can't do a hard turn off either, this message does not go away. Please help.
