All my album artwork has gone....please help

iTunes uses information in the ID3 tags when organizing the library. If the artist tag is blank then the files are classified as unknown when iTunes is arranging library.
That bit if info will not help you though. The default setting for iTunes is to copy your files into the iTunes folder and arrange into folders this way artist>album>track. There may be a folder for compilation albums that will be compilation>album>track. There will be separate folders for podcasts, movies, and tv shows also, with subfolders as needed.
You can turn off the option for iTunes to copy files to iTunes folder. When this is done files are left where they are.
As for undoing changes, you will have to do that yourself. IF you had iTunes set to copy then your original files and arrangement should still be there.

Try this ..
On your Mac open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to: Notes
Then reselect it.
Give iCloud a few minutes to re sync the data.
Other than that, try Time Machine > http://pondini.org/TM/15m.html

ITunes 5.0.1 - lost all my album artwork

I used the automatic update tonight, and everything seemed to go fine but now I see that I'm without any of the artwork that I had downloaded. Where do I find this? And how do I make iTunes recognize it again?

Also, just an FYI for people - back up all your music BEFORE upgrading to 5.0 - I lost all of my music when I upgraded from 4.9. Ultimately it was irrelevant b/c my hard drive was crashing and had to be replaced. Starting all over, everything is fine, but all the possible fixes on these sites couldn't find my old music again.

The artwork is stored in the music files. When your hard disk crashed and you lost your music, the artwork went with it.
Unless you have put the artwork back into your music files after the loss, it is gone. Sorry.
And yes people should always keep their stuff backed up.
Not just before doing an upgrade, but all the time because sometimes a disk can fail and give little warning.

Thank you for the question. If your album art is attached to all your media on your computer, then processing a sync should allow the album art to return. If it does not, deselect the sync music preference in iTunes then hit apply. Once this sync completes, select sync music again, apply and let it process. Thank you - I have done this now but resetting and restoring from another device didn't really help. However, syncing via iTunes was a bit more successful as it occurred to me that many of my contacts are in MS Outlook on my PC and I was able to copy them over. There are still some contacts missing and I am continuing to try and figure out where they originate from to try and get them to show up.

It doesn't do that by itself. You have to manually initiate a restore.
If you weren't backing up to iCloud and you didn't have Photo Stream on so the photos could upload to the cloud, they're gone. You can't recover them.

If you backup your iPad, the entries may be in your backup but only the entries as of the date of the last backup will be in there. You can try restoring from a backup which will also restore everything in the backup onto the iPad. You can't just select the calandra entries to be restored.

to know your version of OS, click on the apple, then " About This Mac".
Same thing for your version of iPhoto: in iPhoto, click on "iPhoto" then "About iPhoto".

It appears that you have made a backup via Windows and not via the integrated backup/restore process in the organizer. Since the albums and tagging are stored in catalogs, they are lost unless you also made a backup of the catalogs themselves.

You'll have to restore the iPod to factory settings. Then sync all your content from your iTunes library back over to it.
