TS4062 Iphone 5 joining WiFi problem

My iPhone 5 has recently stopped joining with any wifi accounts other than the one in the Apple Shop. Despite numerous hard and factory resets and several episodes of setting it up as a new device it still comes up with the following error message 'Unable to join the network "...............".' It has always had difficulties picking up wifi signals when others users have had no problems. I have already discounted poor signals and incorrect passwords through trial and error but am unable to resolve this issue. Help!!!!!!!

  • Hi, recently my Iphone 4S having wifi problem. I have try to restore it and accidentally get everything clear off. I have also notice that my phone is not USB recognized by my laptop before my wifi gone. Is there any ways to restore my contact?

    Hi,
My Iphone 4S having wifi problem. I also noticed that the USB is not longer recongnized by my laptop anymore.
I tried to upgrade my IOS6 into 7 hopefully it work...
Somehow, all data (contacts, sms, photo and etc) were gone after I did that.
Since my USB and wifi is not function, is there anyway to retrieve my lost contacts?
For Icloud, is the data retrieve via the phone sim? Phone mac ID? Apple ID? or everything?

Did you backup your iPhone 4S before to upgrade? If you did, you may recover your contacts from it.

Or you should use an iPhone recovery software to get your lost contacts back. Please follow the blog's tips to have a try.
For iCloud, it does not retrieve the phone sim data. It can only restore your backup data. And, if you want to find your Apple ID, you should read this:

  • Iphone 3g having wifi problems - app problem?

    Hi,
I just got given a iphone 3g as a hand me down, and I think im having problems with the wifi, but cant find anything sensible as fix (one video suggested put it in the oven)
when using safari, or internet apps (namely, facebook, kik, igotchat) and probably any other apps that need an internet connection, I get randomly "disconnected" for lack of a better word. on safari it says "no network is available, please connect to wifi" and kik says the same thing.  normally with safari i can just refresh the page a couple of times, and it will work, but when using the instant messenger apps, it just doesnt send or receive my messages, for hours,
the thing is, when all this is going on, i dont actully lose wifi, the signal symbol is there the whole time, I go into settings and my routers name is there, and also igotchat's wifi status always says its good.
So far ive tried changing my wireless channel on the router, and also trying to use it on a diferent internet connection, but the problem still persists (my home network is fine on all other devices)
i understand that im using "legacy" apps, and therefore not on the latest version, but im on the latest that ios 4.2.1 will allow, and im sure app developers/apple wouldnt just have people unable to use their old devices
so what im asking is there any fixes i can try, either with the phone, the router, or the apps, as currently its fairly unusable as an internet device
im pretty new to apple products (except my old ipod video) but im decent with technology so il try anything if it might help even slightly

    Hello monolith,
So, you are still having the disconnection after changing the protocol to G only.  Another tip some folks have used to help clear this up, is to set up a Static address for your phone.  This is something I do at work, so I took the practice home.
Not all routers, will let you reserve addresses for devices, but some do.  If your router is the DHCP for your network, look in the network settings for resevations.
If you can add a reservation, then add the one your phone is already using to see if this elimates the problem, at least on your network.
If you know how to set up a reservation, you can skip this part.
First write down the network settings that are on your phone under the blue > dot.  When you change from DHCP to Static, iOS will clear the settings, so write them down.
Tap on Static and fill in the information you just wrote down for the static address settings.
Now put the phone in airplane mode or turn off WiFi on your phone.
Assuming you can add a reservation to your router, you will need to know you phone's MAC address (Settings>About WiFi address) so you can find it in the address pool.
Your phone's address in the pool should be the same as what you wrote down already and revoke the address from the pool.
Now you can make the new reservation and type in the IP address, the MAC address and a description of your phone, typically.
Save the settings and the router will probably restart the network, so make sure anything already on the network is ready to go offline for a minute or so.
Take your phone off airplane mode and it should join the network.  If it doesn't, confirm the addresses are the same and make sure the MAC address is correct.
If your router can't take a reservation, then the only other suggestion I can make is to aquire an Apple router.  Check around ebay to see if you can't get an old AirPort Extreme Base Station (the ones that look like a space ship) and attach it to your nettwork as a subnet.  I just spotted some on ebay for under $10.  Also if your network is secure, just make sure the subnet is also secure.
If you're unfamilar with Apple routers, you set them up using software from Apple, so if you have a Windows PC you will need to download the AirPort Utility software http://support.apple.com/kb/DL524 and install it on your PC.
Beyond that I'm afraid I can't help, sorry.
    Best of luck,
    UG

  • Iphone 3G and wifi problems.  I've been reading the string about this from last year.  I have an iphone 3G with the latest ios 4.2.1 software.  Every time I connect to my home wifi - Belkin N  - it comes up after a few minutes with "Incorrect Password".

I re-enter the password correctly but it keeps happening.  Any suggestions?

I have a belkin n surf as well and i have got this and other problems. my iphone 3g and 4 often keep on loosing connectivity. especially if the bluetooth is one (either connected or not). it often fails to find my wifi network after waking up from sleep.
the problem i think is most certainly with belkin n. its one of the worst routers out there. unfortunately i didn't read the reviews before buying it. i have other problems with it to like connecting it to a dc++ hub. the setting up for port forwarding is a pain and it tends to connect to the internet on its own even though there are no settings to disable automatic connection.
i was later told by many people online and also read it in the reviews that its one of the very bad router out there along with other belkin routers. belkin has even arranged a replacement for me as its under warranty but i'm avoidng travelling to the other end of the city cause i know all models have the same problem. the worst of them all is a mere 3mbps transfer speed form one computer to another over wifi file sharing even if they both are connected via 802.11n and are placed withing full signal coverage range, with no firewall or security on either on the machines or router. tried it over several macbooks and windows pcs.
    i'm getting lynksys for good.

  • IPhone 5S joins wifi but no internet access - help!

Forgive the length of this, I've browsed past threads about this problem and googled everything I could, but I can't fix the issue.
    iPhone 5S, iOS 7.0.4
I have a MacBook Pro, a Time Capsule, several airport expresses, an iPad and AppleTV in my house... all are working fine (internet access unaffected).
The iPhone worked perfectly until two days ago... the internet access just disappeared for no apparent reason.  Wi-fi strength is always strong; never a problem joining.
These are the things I've found on the interwebz and tried:
Rebooting my Xfinity router (multiple times)
    Rebooting the iPhone (multiple times)
Turning wi-fi off, then on again (a zillion times)
"Forgetting" my wi-fi network, then rejoining
Changing DNS to 4.2.2.4 and back again
    Resetting network settings on iPhone
    Renewing lease in wi-fi settings
Checking/reviewing my Xfinity router settings and all connected devices
    What am I missing?
Aside from returning the phone and getting a replacement, is there anything else I can do?
    Any help/suggestions will be appreciated!

thanks for the suggestion.  i did change the broadcast channel and this may hopefully help with an unrelated problem with occassional interference, but sadly it did not help with the iPhone issue.
everything still works fine, except the internet connection on the iPhone.  sad face.... anyone else?

  • IPhone Internet over WiFi problem

Each time I try to connect to my WiFi network in my office through iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1) the WiFi signal disappears and appears again. I use proxy configuration to surf the web, and I can not enter the proxies in my WiFi tab.
    Please help

Follow the steps here. If nothing works, make an appointment at an Apple store or with whoever handles iPhone warranty where you live:

  • Iphone 6 wifi problems

II have a week old iPhone 6 and have had nothing but wifi problems since I got it.
FIrst off off I got my 6 from Best Buy one week ago, and they could not transfer my icloud items and settings to my new phone. So I was sent home to do this myself. After a few hours I finally got my iCloud back up to go onto my new iPhone.
Major wifi problems. I'm about ready to take it back, since I do have 14'days to return this nightmare.
I Have a iPhone 5 , a iPod 5, ipad 2, and my husband has a iPhone 5S. None have problems with wifi except my brand new iphone 6.
I opened my wifi settings and can see it going on and off at a drop of a hat.
Dont tell me I have to update my router because I already tried this.
Another Major Issue is that annoying pop up
"Cellular Data is turned off for your photos"
you can turn on cellular data for this app in settings
I know this appears because I lose my wifi at that moment while in the middle of something. But it as well says this for
    Settings, Mail ......
IF something's not fixed soon I'm dropping Apple products. I Love Apple But right
    now I'm so displeased!

    Dsheedy1,
Here are the steps that I would use to troubleshoot wifi problems:
1.) Reset the wifi router at home
2.) Make sure your wifi router is not using a generic name that might be doubling with your neighbor's wifi router.
3.) Instead of naming a router NETGEAR68, name it "Dsheedy1_wifi" or some other name that is not likely to be used by a neighbor's wifi router.
4.) What is the exact nature of wifi problems?
a.) not seeing the wifi router's name in the list of routers?
b.) not being able to sign in or get authenticated?
c.) getting connected to router but getting dropped at random after a while?
d.) loosing connection if farther away from router?
Steps 1-3 deals with 4a, identifying your router from other routers in your neighborhood.
If it's 4b (authentication), temporarily set your router's encryption to nothing, see if you can get connected w/o in open access mode. Then switch back to security mode.
If it's 4c or 4d, it could be that your the iphone6's wifi chip and antenna is more sensitive. To rule out interference to the antenna, do not use a phone case that has a metallic back plate which coveres up the top most and bottom most portions of the 6.
Finally, compare wifi connectivity with routers in other locations. If it can get connected to wifi in the Apple Store, or shopping mall, or restaurants, but not for your home wifi router, then it may be a matter of the wifi on the 6 not working well with your home wifi router.
I do not have a 6 yet (still on contract for my 5). After I got my 5 in late 2012, my home wifi was working ok. I did not get the wifi sensing or login problems that had happened to many posters on this forum. However, when I started to use VoIP apps like Skype to make phone calls my wifi started to falter. Since replacing a wifi router is a cheaper solution for me, I bought a new router that was on sale for $80 and had no more wifi stability problems.
My suggestion to you at this point would be to pick up an Apple wifi router. Now if your 6 can't connect to Apple's own router there would be no doubt as to what is problem (the 6). You may have gotten one with quality problem with its wifi circuitry. If I remember correctly Apple has a 30 day return policy on products such as a wifi router. So if it doesn't work out for you, it can be returned.
    Best of luck to you!

  • TS1559 My iPhone 3GS will not now join wifi.  This is a very recent problem and I have tried everything so hope someone can help.  I go Settings then Wifii, it picks up network no problem but then does not download IP Address.

My IPhone 3GS will not now join wifi, this is a very recent problem.  It finds my network but does not download the IP Address hence when I load password Join remains grey.  I have tried all the fixes suggested I.e.  network reset, airplane on then off but still nothing.  I also have another iPhone of the same type and an iPad and they are just fine so I know it is not a router problem.  Please please what do I do?

Try assigning Queen as the Album Artist on the compilations in iTunes on your computer.

  • HT4199 Had problems with my broadband going down at weekend, since it came back on unable to join wifi BT say it is because my wifi settings are missing on my iPad can anyone tell me where to find seething details IP address etc

Had problems with my broadband going down at weekend, since it came back on unable to join wifi BT say it is because my wifi settings are missing on my iPad can anyone tell me where to find seething details IP address etc

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

    Is the router to small?
Not necessarily, if you are using Facetime all the data goes through your WiFi router, your cable/DSL modem, your ISP and the internet to Apple's Facetime servers and then, in reverse, down to the Facetime recipient. If your ISP connection is too slow or there is excessive traffic on the internet you can have Facetime problems.
Most WiFi routers can handle this unless others in the house are also using WiFi at the same time. The problem may be your ISP connection or congestion on the internet, etc.

  • TS1398 Does anyone know when apple is going to fix the problems their latest update caused with iphone 4s and wifi????

All the sudden, as i've read many other's have experienced, I can no longer connect to wifi in my own house with my iphone4s.  Nothing goes to the cloud. No matter what I've tried to fix it, nothing.  Any idea when Apple is going to get their act together and get another update to fix the last update????  Anyone have any luck fixing this - it's not a wifi problem.  It's an Apple issue, it was introduced to the device on their last update - what in the world are we supposed to do to fix it?

I've been on the new IOS since it was released, and have no problems with wifi.

  • Unable to Connect to WiFi after iPhone power off; WiFi & internet are working with MBP; common problem, no solutions?

Here's my setup: Internet <> Comcast/xFinity supplied cable modem <> new Apple Time Capsule <> iPhone 4 & MacBook Pro (see below for hardware details)
Internet on my iPhone 4 has been acting slow since yesterday evening. My MacBook Pro was running fine, but just to be sure I checked the Comcast website to see that I have only used 50GB of my allotted 250 GB of data for the month, so it's not that.
I decided it must be a problem with just my iPhone, so I opened up the multitasking bar and quit everything in there manually, and then I held the on/off button, and slid the slider to power off. When I started back up, I could not connect to the same WiFi I had just been using. I tried to reconnect and nothing. I tried to forget the network and try again, nothing. I tried to reset all network settings, nothing.
I have tried all the steps listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398 "iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections"
Toggled WiFi off and back on
Made sure I am in range of the router (it's about 8 feet away and my iPhone reports full signal from the network)
Made sure all the hardware is connected and on
Checked other devices (I'm successfully connected with my MacBook Pro right now)
Checked for router firmware upgrades (I have a new Time Capsule from Apple with the current 7.5.2 firmware which I've been using for a month)
    Restarted my device (again)
Checked that the network is available (it does show on my iPhone)
    Restarted my Time Capsule
Checked my router configuration as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3727 "Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network" which involves simply checking to see that WMM is turned on, also stating that WMM cannot be enabled or disabled for Apple's AirPort products.
    Reset my network settings (again)
I have searched and searched for fixes to this problem, and I have additionally tried:
    Enabling/disabling Airplane Mode
Disabling any network password protection/encryption (no luck), re-enabling it (no luck)
    Changing the network password
Checking for hardware addresses present in iOS Settings > General > About (they are present and not zero'ed out)
Switching Bluetooth off (nothing) and back on (nothing)
....and probably a few other things I can't think of right now
    I have yet to try:
The "Freezer Trick" which apparently involves chilling the iPhone to get a temporary fix?
Restoring the iPhone (I would really rather not)
A different WiFi network (other than my own Time Capsule home network or guest network, both of which give the same Unable to Connect error)
So, after all of that, are there any more ideas? Is there a reliable solution to this issue? So far I've just seen a lot of "mess with the settings," "the freezer trick worked," and "blame it on the iOS 4 update."
    Here are my hardware details:
    iPhone 4; iOS 5; 32GB; AT&T; no cellular data plan (July 2011)
    TimeCapsule6,113; Firmware 7.5.2; 2TB (September 2011)
    MacBook Pro 3,1; Mac OS X (10.7.2); 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; Hi-Res Display; 4GB RAM; 500GB HD (August 2007)
    ...and the Time Capsule config:
    http://cl.ly/BCUt

Ugh. Apparently "messing with it" is still the answer. I decided to try the LinkSys router I was using before I bought the Time Capsule, and my iPhone connected with no problem.
I went through the steps again, and after rebooting my Time Capsule this time, I can connect again. The troubling thing it that this started with a power-off of my iPhone. No changes or installations, just a reset. Am I going to have to reboot my Time Capsule (which has no power switch, just a cord I have to unplug) every time I reboot my iPhone?

  • Iphone 4 (White MC604FB) Update iOs 6.0 - Wifi Problem and iphone bug when trying to unlock on call receive. Is this a known bug ?

    Dear Members (and Apple Team)
I have two iphones 4 and two bugs on the white one
1/ Is the first gen (Black)
2/ Is the second gen (White MC604FB)
I both uptdated the into Update iOs 6.0 -
Bug 1 : With the white iPhone 4 i have a real Wifi Problem, as close as 5 to 7 meters from any WiFi spot, i lose the signal, where my "black" iphone at the same time and same distance shows full signal (and tested with safari.... works).
Bug 2 : Once the white iphone is in "stand by" when trying to unlock on incoming call, the touch screen works and receive the touch information, but it bugs on trying to unlock to receive the call. (very very anoying :o) have to call back almost every time.
Are those already known bugs ? Is there a fix ?
    Reagrds
    Alexandre

    Dear Diesel
    Thanks for your prompt reply.
