TS4062 my computer is no longer recognised as authorized to sync with my ipod touch after win 8.1 update

OK, I did a recommended upgrade from WIN8 to WIN8.1 - for those of you who havent and are considering it..DON'T!!!!!!!!!!
Amongst other problems, the i tunes store stops working, I even uninstalled and re installed..nothing helped, i tunes opens and then says this computer cannot sync with the ipod, go to i tunes store and go to Authorize this computer. I hit i tunes store in right hand corner, it starts to load then says itunes has stopped working blah blah....
So I can't put songs from my computer onto my ipod touch, and visa versa.
Has anyone else had this problem?

See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. You can skip the media recovery steps if everything is already in the library.

  • Why itune take too long time to authorize my computer to sync with my ipod touch?

I updated my ipod touch to iOS5.1. Also is itune 10.6.0.40. I never try to sync, since they are updated. But today 22/3/2012. when I try to sync my ipod with itune, itune says, 'this computer is no longer authorize, if you don't authorize the app you purchase from ipod will be deleted' something like that appear. and i type my AppleID and password to authorize. But it take about 3 or 4 hours and no response. I don't know why Please answer my qeustion. Thanks you all.
My laptop is HP pavilion g4 and ipod touch 4.

Sunds like an Apple server problem.  I have had problem authorizing my computer in the past and trying later resolved it.

  • I have downloaded a bunch of CDs into iTunes but they no longer sync with my iPod touch.  They play on the computer but won't sync

I downloaded a bunch of CDs into iTunes but they wont sync withe my itouch.  It used to work but won't anymore.

Thank you all for your replies. Here is what i ended up doing. I cannot afford any 3rd party software so i went to itunes and manually entered all my playlists. As I had indicated my purchased music was on my new computer just not the playlists  and I could not sync my ipod. After I rebuilt all my playlists I tried to restore my ipod to factory defaults/new. All of the steps called for in apple support and elsewhere were not available to me. I connected my ipod, went to my computer, right clicked my ipod, and formatted. That wiped my ipod so when I connected to itunes it then gave me a restore option. I did the restore and all is good in the empire again. I can now buy new music and sync my ipod so I am a happy camper.
    Thanks to all.

  • Why do photos take so long to sync with my iPod touch?

Recently my 60Gb iPod touch has been taking longer and longer to sync photos. Music, movies, apps, etc are all ok, its just pictures taking a very long time indeed.
I have tried resetting and erasing all data to start from scratch but I still have the same issue. For instance, I set the iPod syncing at 0830 this morning, went out for the day and as I type now at 2215, (well over 12 hours later) iTunes says it is 'optimizing photo 4103 of 9713'. Not only that, it only appears to be optimizing 1 photo every minute or so. Do the math, its going to take forever to complete the process!
I know its a lot of photos, but it never used to be problem. I should mention that my data is on a remote Netgear Stora 1Tb drive, but I dont see how this would make a difference, as music, movies, etc are copied over extremely fast. It is only photos that are causing me problems.
I would be grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction on this one.
    Cheers,
    Vmondo

A couple of items, one of which has already been mentioned: Picture size. Another is picture type; jpegs seem to load faster.
iOS4 has several new bells and whistles, which may affect things. Things like folders, multitasking, etc. also consume processing speed. The iPod isn't like my MacBook which processes things really quickly. It should; it has more processing capability.
As a side note, part of the issue may be iTunes for Windows itself. (No proof, but the iPod is an Apple gadget, and as such works slightly better with a Mac. Slightly is the key word here.)
Finally...the iPod is, at the end of the day, a music device--not a pocket sized photo album. That it can hold every digital picture one has taken in the last five years is not really relevant. It can hold video clips, pictures, etc. but it's still a device for music and some well-crafted apps. The hope is that, in the next update of iOS4, the picture issue (because you're not alone) can/will be resolved.
    Now...
    1. I tried answering this above.
    2. You might want to check your settings for photos. It shouldn't be optimizing every time you synch, I wouldn't think, unless you are adding or changing pictures.
You can fill your iPod with whatever you want. From Computer Science 225: All an iPod is, is a fancy HD like what is on a computer. The more you put on the HD, the slower it takes to get where you want to go. This is why it is recommended if you get to with 10-15% of full on your HD, you remove stuff--or get a larger HD and migrate everything on the old HD to it. Even a SSD like the iPod touch has a limit, based on processor speed and available memory.

  • IPhoto no longer syncs with my iPod Touch

Hi, I used to connect my iPod Touch to my iMac and then launch iPhoto.
Photos and videos were then previewed in iPhoto and I had the option to import selected ones or all.
    iPhoto has stopped doing this.
My Touch appears in 'Devices' but all options are greyed out.
I have both photos and videos on my Touch that I want to import.
Does anyone have any ideas? Do I need to reinstall iLife?
    Many thanks, Brion

I have the same problem, was looking for an answer when I saw Brion's question. My version is 2.2.1 iPod touch. I eliminated everything on it to replace music etc.. but now can't get phots or slide shows loaded from iTunes. Just like Brion, except I use Aperture3.

  • Why does it take so long to do an intial backup with the iPod Touch?

I restored my iPod Touch 2nd generation because I wanted to delete a bunch of the music off and I couldn't get it to do that. I have gotten it back to the base, but now when I try to sync the stuff I want to it, it will not do anything. It keeps saying backing up. It has said this for a while now. iTunes keeps locking up during the process too!

    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings

    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Can't sync playlists from ipod touch to new computer

Can't Sync Playlists from iPod Touch to New Library
I just upgraded from an old Pentium computer to a new Dell XPS 18 running Windows 8.1.  Downloaded latest version of iTunes to the new computer, then successfully transferred library content from the old computer to the new one via the external hard drive method.  All material -- iTunes purchases, music ripped from CDs, a movie, even MP3 files purchased long ago from another source -- transferred successfully; everything plays on the new computer just fine.
My problem is that the "old" playlists didn't transfer over.  After connecting my iPod Touch to the new computer, I verified that the iPod has the latest version of iOS, and its content (including the old/original playlists) displays in the window on the left-hand side of the iTunes screen.  The really frustrating thing is that I can find no way to transfer the old playlists to my new iTunes library.  I've tried dragging and dropping, selecting and pasting, and exploration of all the options menus, but no luck.  Creating a new playlist in the new library and then clicking on the "Add To" button opens up a window into which to drop dragged songs/folders from the new library listing, but simultaneously closes the left-hand display window with all of my iPod's current playlists depicted.
I appear successfully to have backed up my iPod to the new computer, but all the sync menu options are grayed out.  When I tried clicking on the Sync button, I got a warning that syncing to the new library would erase everything from the old library -- presumably obliterating my playlists with it.  I have about a dozen different playlists, some of them with several hundred songs, drawn from a library of a few thousand individual items.  Is there some means of importing/transferring the old playlists to the new computer/library, so that I don't manually have to drag and drop hundreds and hundreds of songs into a new set of playlists?  Am I overlooking something really obvious or simple?  Can I safely turn on Home Sharing and then import or paste the old playlists into the new computer's library.  I don't think I'm too much of a Luddite, but given the size of my library I'm very leery of turning on Home Sharing (to the old Pentium computer) after I've successfully transferred over many GBs of content from the old machine to the new.
    Thanks very much --

  • Can No Longer Connect Wirelessly to ITunes With My IPod Touch

While I can connect to the Internet with my IPod Touch through my router, I cannot seem to connect to ITunes wirelessly. My device only shows when I have it connected through the cable directly. The Apple help site hasn't been much good, as they suggested to completely uninstall ITunes (I followed their instructions implicitly) and re-install. Same problem. Not sure if this has anything to do with the new OS....but it's suspicious.

Not sure if I was included in this question, but I'll answer anyway. My computer that I have ITunes on is hard wired into the router, which makes sense since it's on my computer desk But as I said, wireless works fine so It's logically not the IPod, it's not the router, so it has to be either the new OS or ITunes.
I have Rogers Cable and a Cisco Modem/router.

Funny thing is, my desktop is hard wired too, but for grins and giggles I put iTunes on one of my laptops, and used the laptop to reset my iPod to factory settings.  Wireless synch still didn't work....
What really aggravates me is when you go to the KB to find out how to troubleshoot an issue, the articles are pretty much blank.  Click here, set that, but no real explanation of how stuff works or what can cause it to break....
One thing I have noticed is the KB article says that after you tell iTunes to use Wireless Synch if you don not eject the deivce, it will stay connected when you unplug it...  I never saw that behavior....
