TS4079 Why is my Siri not responding

My Siri just spins around never responding.  It's a mini ipad connected via wifi.  I ask a question and it just twirls around and around and no voice responds...  I've tried rebooting, turning Siri on and off, connecting to different wifi networks. What can I do?

Try a reset: Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons and don’t let go until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears

You are in Recovery Mode. Follow the instructions below to recover your iPad.
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
    3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
    5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.

Why is my keyboard not responding??

    Hello:
Go to system preferences>Bluetooth.  Highlight the device.  If the sidebar to the right does not show detailed information, click on the little gear and select "show more info." Then click on the gear again and select "favorite."

  • Why ichat says am not responding when i'm the one who's inviting a chat?

my brother-in-law and i used to ichat. we downloaded "iglasses" and still there's no problem until there was this time all of a sudden(?) we can't connect. whenever each one of us invites the other, there is a funny (?) remark why we are not connecting - one who invites is not responding???? we send the details to apple....very long descriptions of error...
the funny thing is whenever somebody invites both of us in a videoconference we are able to connect.
he trashed the "iglasses" and upon the instructions of the apple rep, he reinstall all software including ichat...on my end, i trashed the "iglasses" (by simply dragging the application folder to trash and empty?) BUT i am very reluctant to re-install all software...i have some important updates etc....that i'm not sure i'm willing to risk to revert to my original factory set-up..
will opening up ports as what apple has instructed "configure your network" helps?
    would appreciate help. thanks.

    Yeah, I feel your pain.
I've learned that the "failed to respond" message is
actually cryptic computer geek speak for "Sir, one or
more of the ports the computer needs for iChatAV
communication is not open or unavailable".
There is handshaking going on behind the scenes
between the two computers, and the computers use
certain ports between the modems to carry on this
conversation. As one or both of the computers use
these ports a "failed to repsond" message will appear
if one of these handshakes fails.
Do you ever see "Error -8" as an error message? If
so, that would confirm the port issue.
You may want to contac RJinWI on this forum for more
    help.
thanks for your help. truly appreciate the advice...
i did actually read on the details of the error---those long jargon which for me is very "scary". i think i read on one of those lines error 8 (?). anyway, i did try to open "configure one's network" and now, am faced with numbers of ports to open for choices between configurations A and B...ports for incoming or outgoing packets...ports like TCP or UDP...concerns like making mac osx firewall active but not being able to send huge files versus opening all ports but be vulnerable...which numbers i would type in the ports...so on and so forth ...so decided to join this discussion....
I read on one of those emails exchange in this forum by RJinWI about similar problem -- -"not being able to connect thru ichat"...i guess will need to contact him/her as you have advised. thanks again.

  • Lastfmhelper? What is it and why is it always "not responding"?

When ever I pull up Activity Monitor lastfmhelper is always red and not responding. Anyone have any idea what it is and why it's misbehaving? I noticed this because my 10.5.2 iMac Core 2 Due will all of the sudden become unresponsive. When I brought up Activity Monitor lastfmhelper was, as I said, red and "Not responding".
    Thanks

It is not an OS X component so it must be from a third-party software product you've installed. A Google search only turned up a reference to a Windows file. There is a web radio site, Last.fm. You may be using software to access the site or installed software from the site to listen to their internet broadcast. If this rings a bell, then locate the software and uninstall it. It my not be compatible with Leopard.
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Most applications create preference files which are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can located them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.
There are also several shareware utilities that can uninstall applications:
    AppZapper
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at www.versiontracker.com or www.mackupdate.com.

  • Why is my Siri not working since OIS 8.2 update

My siri seems to have stopped working since 8.2 update any idea's???

    Hello Boberoone,
That is interesting that you are not able to get Siri to respond to you. It could be a microphone issue or maybe an internet connection issue but to start you on your way of resolving this, take a look at the article below.

  • WHY DID MY IPOD NOT RESPOND TO MY TOUCH

I think the reason why I cant use my iPod and is unresponsive to touch is because I left the portrait and landscape lock on too long. I forgot to turn it off. Well anyways, does anyone know how to fix it? I mean, I can still click the turn off/on button, but I cant shut it down because it needs me to slide to shut down and it wont let me, no matter how hard I try. PLZ HELP ME!! ;(

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Iphone 5 Siri not responding

Siri is not responding. When i start it up, i hear no voice even if I say "hi" or ask a question.

Try asking Siri something simple first like this :' What is the weather for today?' If that dosen' work just say ' Hi'. If she says something back then slowly work your way up to harder questions. If those don't work either, try this: Go to general, find the Siri button, and turn Siri off. Then turn your iPhone off. Wait a couple minutes then turn your iPhone back on. Finally turn Siri back on and try talking to her again. If none of these work, please let me know. Thanks!

  • Why is OD Server not responding when added to authentication search policy?

    Howdy All,
I'm using Mac OS X Server (10.5.6) to connect to an LDAP server in the organisation (not sure what it is running on). The Mac is not running as a master or mirror just a client.
When I configure the connection to the LDAP server in Directory Utility it says "This server is responding normally. This server is not in your authentication search policy." That's ok.
Whowever, when I add the connection to the authentication (or contacts) search policy in Directory Utility is says "This server is not responding."
What would this specifically indicate? This machine is not allowed to connect? The mapping is incorrect? There is some sort of mismatch between client and server?
Others have used Macs to connect to this LDAP server. I've followed their specific configuration suggestions. I've also tried turning off/on the firewall, DNS server, etc.
    Thanks for any assistance.
    Cheers,
    Ashley.

    Hi Jeff,
Thanks for your post. That said, I'm not sure how you got the impression that I wish to go to Maine I'm happy here in Perth, Western Australia.
    Jeff Kelleher wrote:
Connecting a Mac to an LDAP server is a far cry from connecting a OS X Server to an existing LDAP server. Not that I could necessarily help, but asking how to connect an OS X Server to an LDAP server is a bit like asking "guess where I am now, how do I get to Maine?"
You need to provide as much info as you can.
Seriously though, I'm not sure of the difference. I am using Directory Utility to allow this OS X Server to get authentication information from an LDAP server just like an OS X Client would.
I have Open Directory in Server Admin just setup to connect to a directory system (i.e. the organisation LDAP server), not a master or replica.
My final goal is to allow access to an OS X TeamsServer Wiki by users who are authenticated against the LDAP server (rather than having to have separate accounts, logins, on the OSXS.)
I am hoping that I can use a group from the LDAP server to define the team, but perhaps I will have to run a standalone OD. I hope then I can add LDAP users to the OD group.
    What other information would help?
    Thanks,
    Ashley.

  • Why does the camera not respond to tapping?

I have used  UITapGestureRecognizer so that an instance of UIImageView will respond to tapping when applied to images.  However, so far, the camera does not respond to anything I try in this regard.
Could it be that the camera view does not respond to tapping?
    Thanks.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)

  • Why are my hotkeys not responding?

    Hello.
Photoshop CS6 user here (Mac version).
I'm having trouble with my hotkeys. I'm using Photoshop with an Intuos Wacom tablet along with my keyboard for hotkeys.
Ever since the latest mac OS update, my hotkeys have not been responding.
When I use my tablet pen, I can only use my hotkey once. After that, I lose the ability to use hotkeys and everything is entirely dictated by my tablet pen. I have to stop using my tablet pen, use another program or software, and then jump back onto photoshop again. At that point, the whole process repeats.
I've had this problem before when the program stops working or refuses to function. It only works again when I use another software or program, like a web browser, jump back on Photoshop, and then it works again for some odd reason.
    This is what happens:
    >I use photoshop normally with keyboard + tablet and pen
    >I use a hotkey to fix a mistake or use a new tool
    >Hotkeys stop working and photoshop won't let me do anything with a keyboard. Everything is now exclusively left to my pen.
    >I go onto google chrome or a different program
    >Jump back onto photoshop
    >Hotkeys work again for some reason
    >Repeats over and over again
My laptop is basically telling me that I am not allowed to use both the keyboard and the tablet. It's only letting me use one of the devices at a time. This is severely hampering my ability to work efficiently. I can't just work only with a tablet because I have gotten so used to working in conjunction with a keyboard now.
Does anybody know what the problem is here?
And before you ask, yes, I did download the latest driver for my tablet.
    Thanks.
