TS4124 My iTunes Match suddenly disappeared entirely

Then, all my collection disappeared, left only those I bought from iTunes. iTunes Match keys / buttons start to disappear across all my devices. My iPhone says that it cannot connect to iTunes Store. What is happening?

What is your specific question about iTunes Match? We can't help you with the beta of iOS; according to the NDA you agreed to when you signed up the developer account you aren't supposed to be talking about it either.

• ITunes playlists suddenly disappeared

Hi
after working well for at least a year (even with Lion 10.7.4) all my playlists suddenly disappeared. I followed advise (from OSX Daily website) and quit iTunes (10.6.1), moved 'iTunes Music Library.xml' and 'iTunes Library.itl' folders to desktop and re-imported and started iTunes again, whereupoon I expected to see my playlists restored, BUT instead this re-import process seemed to automate a completly new duplication of all the mp3 s into the Media folder, as if by some default.
To be clear, I keep all my mp3's in Music / iTunes Music. I think iTunes really wants me to keep my mp3 files in Music / iTunes / iTunes Media / Music as this directory recongnises games and other forms of revenue for Apple but I elected to keep my files seperately and iTunes does say it allows me to do this by duly selecting the path in Preferences / Advanced, and un-check the 'keep Media folder organised' radio button...... and this has worked pretty well ....until two days ago. So what has happened to disturb the peace?
Grateful for any advice here.

• ITunes Match deleted ALL my playlists

About 6 weeks ago or so, I noted that one of my favourite playlists on iTunes Match had disappeared. I had absolutely no idea how this could happen as this is a Cloud based service with an integrated back-up. Now - today - I find that ALL my playlists are gone too. Any ideas who/what is responsible ??

I had this exact issue. Spent over an hour on the phone with apple support, they couldn't resolve. Here is what I ended up doing, that worked.
1. Turned iTunes match off on all my iOS devices
2. Deleted the offending playlists from the iOS device they originated on
3. Started iTunes, let it run (literally) for an hour before it became responsive. First thing I did, before clicking anywere else was disable iTunes match. If I clicked anywhere, it would clock for another hour.
4. Let iTunes run overnight, by morning it had cleaned out the repeating play lists. This got my Mac/iTunes back to an operable state.
5. Restore iPhones from backup in iTunes.
What was causing my issue was a single playlist that was created on an iPhone, then suddenly showed up with several thousand duplicates on my other iPhone. The culprit playlist did not, for some reason, duplicate itself on my two iPads. Apple support seemed to think it was because the problem iPhone tried to sync the playlist to iCloud over and over again unsuccessfully, then it finally went through and populated the thousands of blank/failed playlists which then tried to propigate to iTunes and my other iOS devices. Seems like a reasonable theory.
I have not yet re-enabled iTunes match. So, no idea what will happen if I decide to go back down that rabbit hole.

• This Device is already associated with an Apple ID after subscribed iTune match.

Since subscribed iTune match, I cannot listen to my music although I enabled iTune Match for my iPad2. Instead, it always displayed "This Device Is Already Associated With An Apple ID. You can use iTunes Match on this device with just one apple ID every 90 days. This device can be used with another Apple ID in 75 days." I only pressed "OK".
Who could help me or give me suggestions about that.
Thanks.

Well, that's a bummer. I guess Apple thinks no one ever travels. I live in 2 countries and thus have 2 different accounts with 2 different credit cards. Now that iTunes match deleted my entire catalogue on my iPad 2 because I signed in with my second country account yesterday to buy an App. I resigned into my first country account today only to have everything deleted. No I have to wait a few weeks to put my music back on my iPad until I return to my first country and transfer it from my Mac. Argh!

• Stupid question re iTunes match and family sharing

So, here is my dilemma...we have a large family and a ton of os devices--iphones, iPads, apple tv's, iMacs, MacBooks, etc. Up until now, we have set everyone up on the same apple id, which has been crazy--my and my wife's phone ringing with the kids' FaceTime calls, me not being able to sign into iTunes match because there were too many devices associated with our account, and so on. Now, wit the upgrade to iOS 8, my wife's phone is ringing when I receive calls and vice versa. So, I was looking into the family sharing, but am not sure how that affects iTunes match. I want to keep my iTunes match, because I have a huge music library and enjoy being able to listen to my music anywhere. I guess my questions is, what is the best way to set up my accounts now? Keep my apple id for my iOS devices, and set everyone else up as a "family member" under sharing with them having their own apple id's? If so, what does that do to my iTunes match library? can I keep iTunes match and still have family sharing on? I don't care if I can share my music library with everyone in my family, but what I do care about is that I don't want to lose my access to iTunes match and my entire library, some of which consists of songs downloaded 7 years ago. I know it's a stupid question, but as much as I've read and searched, I still haven't found the answer to my question. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds very bad... you can try this, create a account for each member of the family, delete all products (leave all your devices as new) and put the accounts in the devices again, for example, this iPad is from the kid, put the Apple ID of the kid in her iPad, after, this iPhone is from your wife, put the Apple ID from your wife in her iPhone. But remember, the purchases save in the Apple IDs when the family use before, for change the purchases contact with Apple.

• ITunes Match has been crippled on iTunes 10.7. Anyone else experiencing this? Please help!

Running iTunes 10.7 on 10.6.8
So, I am still on iTunes 10.7 (yes, I have been with iTunes 11 and have tried iTunes 12, but in my opinion, 10.7 is hands down the best version of iTunes to date).
I have been using iTunes Match on iTunes 10.7 for over a year without issue. Anytime I launch iTunes or wake my computer up from sleep, it automatically starts doing an update and any new songs are instantly added to the cloud. It was reliable and worked flawlessly until about 4 days ago.
A few days ago when things started acting weird, the first thing I noticed when I opened iTunes was that it no longer updated iTuens Match automatically and the iTunes Match tab was missing under the iTunes Store tab where it normally always appears.
I manually tried updating iTunes match by going to the top of the page, under Store < update iTunes Match (at the top of the page) than iTunes Match appeared.
It did the 3 step process, but once you hit 'done' at the end. The iTunes Match tab disappeared The iTunes match column disappeared and if I right click any of my tracks, ALL my music had the 'add to iCloud' button (files that were already in the cloud).
I didn't lose any of my music. On my iPhone, all my music still appears when I have iTunes Match on.
Here is what I have tried to fix the problem:
1. Completely removed my Apple ID identity from iTunes: Turned off iTunes Match, deauthorized the computer and signed out of the Apple ID
2. Removed iTunes Store cache and quit iTunes
3. Did 'repair disk permissions' in disk utility
4. Changed my iTunes folder to 'iTunes 2' so it would create a new iTunes folder. When I opened in the new iTunes. It was a blank slate. When I reauthorized my computer and turned on iTunes match, it still wouldn't work. When I hit 'update iTunes Match from 'store' at the top of the page, it goes through the 3 step update, but once it is done, iTunes match disappears and none of the songs in the cloud appear (this is what leads me to believe that maybe I am not alone, and maybe Apple has stopped allowing iTunes 10.7 users from using iTunes Match)
5. I once again did step 1 and 2 and re installed iTunes using the saved DMG file.
6. I did an smc reset (this was a long shot chance of doing anything, but I wanted to exhaust all my options)
7. Restarted my computer
I also noticed that you can now longer download the iTunes 10.7 file from the Apple downloads page. When you try to download, you get this error message:
An error occurred while processing your request.
Reference #30.7ed16bd1.1425254177.1b62a8
This is another possible signal that worries me. That Apple maybe removing online tools like iTunes Match on older versions of iTunes.
Is anyone on here still on iTunes 10.7? Is iTunes Match still functioning normally for you? Do you have any tips on what I can do to fix this problem? Are there any library or preference files associated with iTunes that could be causing the problem?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Happy to report that iTunes Match has returned to working like normal on iTunes 10.7 on my computer today. If any iTunes engineers read this thread, I really appreciate the fix.
Has it returned to normal for you?

• ITunes Match for the iMac - Music Files on an iPod?

I subscribe to iTunes Match and have an iPod Classic 160GB. Is it possible to use iTunes Match for my entire music library on my iMac & iPhone BUT put the actual song files on my iPod Classic? The problem is my music library is large, won't fit on my iMac Flash hard drive and iTunes Match is perfect. But I can't figure out how to get those songs onto my iPod Classic because iTunes Match is enabled on iTunes.
I would like to keep my iTunes library on the iMac using Match and have the physical songs be on the iPod Classic.
I tested this by putting 1 album on the iMac hd. Then syncing the iPod. Then deleting it from iTunes (the cloud icon came back so Match is doing it's thing and I deleted the physical song files). Sync'd again but this time I checked Manually Manage Music & Videos in the iTunes iPod Settings window before hand, thinking that would tell iTunes to not worry that the 1 Who album wasn't physically on my h/d anymore. But it didn't work. It removed the that album from the iPod Classic.
Is this possible and I don't have the correct settings in iTunes or on the iPod? Or is this a limitation of using iTunes Match?

Hey thanks, Jim... Actually I do have a back up of my entire library on an external drive. Is the process just dragging the songs and albums from the Finder (from the external drive backup) onto the iPod when I plug it in to iTunes and they copy over? Is it possible to create new or update existing Playlists with this method? But is key is to never sync the iPod with iTunes or do I need to check Manually Manage Music & Videos?
Or am I looking at this completely wrong. lol

• ITunes Match Not Uploading

iTunes match suddenly quit uploading music to the cloud. It goes through all the other steps but when it comes to uploading it fails. The songs are reading error beside them and I tried to refresh iTunes Match but it keeps failing to upload. Is anyone having this issue?

Mine cut out about an hour ago and I actually logged in here to see if I was the only one affected. Every upload I attempt gives me an "error" message.
I also just called the Apple Support number, and they said to just keep trying (seems like this has happened before?). I gave them my one-minute rant on how a $25 service shouldn't really be down, or at least there should be a better SLA than "call back in 24 hours".

• HT204406 Itunes Match - Iphone 5

I just renewed to Match on itunes and I can't get it to load on any of my iphone 5s that it was loaded on previously what the deal any ideas?

Not sure if you tried this but I was having the same problem with iTunes Match on my iPhone 5. I fixed it by first connecting it to my MAC. When I connected my iPhone i saw that the "iTunes Match" icon popped up again in the navigation bar on the left (under the "Store" category). I thought this was funny because this is only an option if you haven't activated iTunes Match on the computer or if you haven't registered for the service. Since I already did that I found it was odd that the icon would show up again. Sure enough I clicked on the iTunes Match icon and the main display screen in iTunes went through what seemed to be a quick auto logon process and the iTunes Match icon disappeared. After that I had a hunch and went back to my iPhone (still connected) and tried to activate iTunes Match and this time it did it. Still seems to be some kind of a bug with iOS6 but it has fixed the problem for me... for now...

• HT204406 iTunes match not working on iPhone 5

I have iTunes Match turned on. At the top of the iTunes song screen on my iPhone 5, it looks like it's downloading all my 2766 songs and the cover view is flashing by rapidly. After it reached 2766 the whole process starts over, and I'm unable to listen to music. Every now and then it will play a random selection; then nothing. Anyone know what's going on?

• My entire iTunes library has disappeared from my Itunes (except for 5 songs i purchased yesterday from iStore. Had about 300 songs!! Anyone know how this cd happen? Have Windows Vista. Computer did recent Windows update. Also recently renewed Trend.

My entire Library of songs (over 300) has suddenly disappeared from my iTunes. Only songs there are 5 I just purchased from iStore yesterday. Has never happened before. Windows recently installed some updates. I also recently renewed my Trend anti-virus. I have no idea where the Library went. Have done a Search of computer and checked Recycle bin....the songs are gone. WHAT happened????? Can I get them back from Apple somehow? Can I restore them from my Ipod? (I am afraid to plug in the iPod because if it Syncs, am afraid it will also dump all my songs. What can I do????

a) See: How to rename your iPod.
b & c) If you can still the view hidden files, see this Music from iPod to computer.
"I see LOTS of files - but they all have funky names like XYZAV.mp3"
That's normal. When those files are back in iTunes they'll have the correct names.
Once the files are back to your computer (and only then), you should restore your iPod. It would appear that the hard drive has become corrupt and unreadable.

• ITunes Match and the magical disappearing explicit tags

So, after doing a spring (winter?) clean of my iTunes library today, there seems to be a bit of tension between iTunes Match and Explicit tags on tracks.
I'm obsessive with my library and add lyrics via Get Lyrical, use a script to search my iTunes library for specific profanities that outputs them into a playlist then use MetaX to tag all songs in that playlist with the explicit tag. As a student of radio, sometimes, it's just easier to check for tags that drive through yrics for profanity and songs that are airable.
However, for whatever reason, as soon as iTunes Match updates the library with the server, all explicit tags are removed except for those that are downloaded from the store with the tags already added (which is an annoyance in itself because Apple see fit to mark an entire album as explicit even if a specific track is clean and safe for air). Removing the explicit tags will find it readded after the iCloud sync.
All other elements of manual metadata are safe; purchase date, release date, copyright. It just doesn't like explicit tags - hoping it'll get fixed in a future update.

My library has just over 10,000 songs in it. 95% came from my CD's that I ripped myself, plus some that I recorded directly to the computer from cassette or record (yes, I actually did that!). I recently subscribed to iTunes match and other than about 100 songs, they all matched correctly. I was very meticuous about my tagging so my library was very clean. Not sure if that matters as I understand they use a digital matching scheme rather than based on tagging, but regardless, I am very pleased with the final result.

• HT204406 Is there a way to down load specific, individual songs on my iphone 5 or ipad 2, through iTunes Match, rather than having to download the entire album in the Cloud?

Is there a way to down load specific, individual songs on my iphone 5 or ipad 2, through iTunes Match, rather than having to download the entire album in the Cloud?

Begin by tapping on the Settings app.
Scroll to the Store menu and tap that.
This is where you can manage your Automatic Download settings. You can control Music, Apps, and Books (if you have the iBooks app installed) here. Slide to On any of the kinds of files you want iCloud to automatically download to your device.

I subscibed to ITunes Match and all my music has disappeared from my Ipod touch and will only play through WiFi so I cannot play music in my car. How do I get it back please

You'll need to switch off iTunes Match on the device & sync the iPod with iTunes as hopefully you've kept all your music on your PC.
