I know that if I go to iCloud contacts, and click the gear I can delete contacts and groups, but how does that work if I sync up again and if I want to only keep certain groups synced? Do I have to manually manage every time a sync is made to remove certain groups?

On the device you do not want the auto downloads to be installed on: Settings/iTunes & App Store. Deselect what you do not want to be automatically downloaded.

To restore from a back up made through iTunes, follow these instructions.
To restore from a back up made through iCloud, try the following:
The difficulty in restoring iCloud data from a back up is that the back up is older than the current version on iCloud and anything that is restored gets removed again when an iCloud sync occurs.
Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
Start the restore from iCloud back up.
Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
Wait for the time out confirmation.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
Delete any iCloud contacts from iCloud.com on a computer.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).
May I suggest that you carry out a back up to iTunes before you try anything, that way should things become even worse, you can at least restore back to where you are now.

Go to iCloud.com on your computer, log into your iCloud account and open Contacts, click on the red ribbon at the top to display your groups, click on All Contacts, to the right click on any single contact to select it,click on the Actions (gear shaped) icon at the bottom and choose Select All, then press the Delete key on your keyboard.
Be careful when you do this. It will delete all contacts from your iCloud account, but it will also delete them from any devices that are syncing contacts with your iCloud account too. If you don't want to do that, go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted before deleting them from icloud.com.

What if I don't want to sync ALL of my Library to my IPod?

Just bought a iMac Core Duo, and my wife's Nano is synched up with it, no problem.
Here's what I want to do though: I want to put all my CD library on iTunes, but I don't want ALL of the songs to sync over - just the ones she wants (she just has upbeat music to work out to).
Is this possible? If it is, how do I tell iTunes which ones to sync and which ones NOT to sync?

You can choose to "automatically update selected playlists only" in which case you can create a playlist specifically for the Nano and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPod. Or you can choose to "manually manage songs and playlists"

The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

I want to move these playlists into the playlists in my library so they can be synced to my iPod. I don't seem to be able to do this, and can only listen to these Genius playlists on my computer. How do I transfer these?

On a 5th gen nano, you can actually create and listen to Genuis playlists on the iPod.
You can also set up automatic syncing to include Genius Playlists.
In iTunes, if the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar. In the sidebar, the Genuis playlists that you create are shown under GENIUS (not PLAYLISTS).
If you use automatic syncing, you set up the iPod's Music screen in iTunes (where the Sync Music checkbox is located). Genius playlists are shown on the iPod's Music screen, under Playlists, where you can select (checkmark) them as items to be synced to the iPod and maintained by iTunes.
If you use the manual method (with the Manually manage music and videos setting), there is no way to include the actual Genius playlists. However, you can create a new playlist manually on the iPod using iTunes. Then, drag the songs from a Genius playlist to that playlist on the iPod.

Wont sync "All Default" contacts to icloud?

I am trying to get my iPhone contacts to connect with my Messenger app on my MacBook Pro.
My iCloud contacts are synced correctly, but when I add a new contact to my phone, they do not appear on my computer.
I looked into my phone and realized that the contacts synced to "All Default" are not syncing. I suppose this is because they are not in "All iCloud"Is
Is there a way to do this/ make this happen?

In my computer/itune it shows there is a backup in iclud on 10th of this month but while trying to resotore using iphone its not showing there its showing older one. now how can i restore on 10th one.

You have two separate questions here...
To get all your music into one playlist, select Music in the sidebar and click the Songs view at the top. Then, highlight all the songs and drag them into your playlist.
I don't know if it's possible to download all Purchased content (or do you mean iTunes Match content?) at once; try a few Google searches.

Media and contacts are NOT part of the iPhone backup. Media should already be in your iTunes library and contacts should be in whatever address book or cloud service you were syncing them to. Just re-sync them to the phone.

Go to System Preferences > iCloud and turn iCloud off.
Restart holding the Command and R keys and then choose to reinstall Mac OS X. If you have applicaitons on the machine that should not be transfered to another party, after the restart choose Disk Utility and erase the hard drive and then install Mac OS X...that will return the machine to factory condition.

I have Logic Studio 9.0 media set but need to install onto new Mountain Lion iMac. Migrating from older OS will allow free upgrade from App store but I don't want to migrate due to other issues. How can I install this?

We have a valid serial number and the original 9.0 media set. When I tried migrating the App Store updated it free of charge. However I don't know how to get Logic on without migrating as it point blank refuses when I insert the install disk.

Something is not quite right here:
I have the original Studio 2 disks here, and the installer runs fine under OSX.8.3. It will install Logic Pro 9.0.0, which can then be updated by downloading the 9.1.7 or 9.1.8 updater from Apple Downloads.
On your system, the installer refuses to run, or does the install proceed, but you are unable to update Logic so that it will work on Mountain Lion?
