Most likely the phone is locked to a carrier that you haven't tried yet.

i have bought an iphone 4 from america and now m in pakistan my iphone 4 not accepting any sim card and if i enter sim card it shows only single signal bar and saying IPHONE IS DISABLED it was working perfectly in america what can i do activate it in pakistan? when i turned it on it said enter pas code i entered that code as 0000 and then it start showing iphone is diabled connect to itunes and than i connected it to itunes but it is not connected in itunes ? plz give me complete solution of this problem so that i will start using my iphone 4g in my country

Im guessing you mean the iPhone 4? anyway ...
Because you brought the phone in America, It will be locked to either the AT&T network, or Verizon. These will ONLY work within the United States, and under no circumstance will they unlock the phone for international use. Unfortunatley, that means you are $500 out of pocket, and have an expensive paperweight to your name. The only way to get an iphone 4 in your country is wait for it to be released, and in the meantime, sell the one you have to someone in America.

Only the carrier it is locked to can unlock it. Contact them and see if you qualify.

Sounds like your iPhone is locked to the wireless carrier you used
in Bahrain. Contact that wireless carrier to see if they offer unlocking
and if you qualify. Only the carrier to which the iPhone is locked
can unlock it.
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>Carrier?
Remember that the warranty is not international. You will have to
return the iPhone to Bahrain for repair/replacement if it needs service.

Your iPhone was hacked to unlock it. Now that you have updated it has cleared that hack and is locked with the original cell provider. Call AppleCare and give them the model and serial number and they can tell you the cell provider it is locked with. Then contact that cell provider and see what their unlock policy is and if you qualify.

Ask the carrier in the US who the phone is locked to if they will unlock it for you - put an unlock request into that carrier.
Other than that and if they refuse to unlock it, then there is nothing you can do except buy a new phone.

Activation requires a SIM card.
Activation issues are almost always the result of a device that has been hacked or jailbroken. If that is the case, no support can be provided here.

YOu'll have to restore, nothing else you can do.
If you have an older backup you can restore to that.

I'm in Cuenca now--NO STORE, & now that I need to activate--have also been told "not every cellular store CAN activate iphone!" I am reading about all these problems--yours is the first response that has a solution! Now going to set up with Claro... wish me luck! There are three possibilities:
1. Your phone is locked to a different carrier and will not work with any SIM card except those from that carrier.
2. Your new card is from a carrier not supported by the iPhone.
3. Your new SIM card is defective.
In order to determine which is the right answer you could try a different sim from the same carrier or try your new card on a different iPhone. Also check to make sure your new carrier is a supported carrier.
