TS4148 no service appears continually on ipad

Suddenly the ipad displays no service although the home pcs all have internet up and running. also comes up with 'cannot connect to mobile data network'. what is the proble - i have already tried holding the top and bottom button down till the white apple appears but to no avail.

That means that there is no cellular signal or the cellular account is not provisioned or enabled for your iPad. If you are trying to use it on WiFi either it is in Airplane mode or you have WiFi switched off.
