TS4148 Problems unlocking iphone 4S
I have an iPhone 4S bought in May through O2 UK. In August, O2 unlocked the phone. I am now living in Africa where I want to use my iphone on the local network. I connected the phone with no SIM inside to iTunes and restored it. This involved downloading a 912MB file which took me more than a month on my slow connection here. After the restore was complete I received a message saying that the 'phone has been restored to factory settings'. I put in my new SIM and I get the message 'No SIM' on the phone and iTunes says 'There is No SIM in the iphone you are attempting to active'. The new SIM works in another phone so I know its OK. At no point during the restore process did I receive a message saying your iphone has been unlocked. I have tried the restore twice now, once with no SIM inside and once with the new SIM inside. I am very frustrated with this, as my $1000 phone is currently useless unless I can unlock it. Please help.
Only the carrier to whom the device is locked can unlock it.
When restoring, if it is truly unlocked, a message should appear something to the effect of "Congratulations your device is unlocked".

The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.
The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Carrier unlocked but problem unlocking iPhone
I have received confirmation from my carrier that I can now unlock my iPhone 4s (the 2 year contract has finished and I've received an email with instructions). However I've followed all the carrier instructions, Apple instructions, on-line forum advice etc and I'm not getting the "Congratulations, your phone ins unlocked" message in iTunes after I do the Restore. I did a back-up and then Restore to Original Settings.
I want to stay with the carrier for a while yet so am doing all this with the orginal SIM card in the phone. I'm taking the phone back to Australia in a couple of months but want to make sure it is unlocked before I go, so I need to keep the same SIM card until I go. I'm currently in the US.
Do I need to have a new SIM card in the phone when restoring to unlock it or can I do it with the original SIM card?

Yes, or instead of buying new sim, if you have friends or relatives that are iPhone users and on a different network why not borrow sim card -

I was on an o2 contract until Oct 2014 with an iPhone 4S. This phone got damaged so I got a new iPhone 5S on EE and cancelled my o2 contract. The I sent off my 4S to apple to be repaired so that my wife can use it. I have asked for it to be unlocked by o2 ut they say that it has never been used on their network so it is not possible to unlock it.
Can someone tell me how I can get this phone unlocked?
Thanks for your timeDid Apple replace the 4S when you sent it off? If so, then you should be able to provide a copy of the paperwork to o2 to show that it is a replacement. However, they are the only one that can authorize the unlocking of the device. If they will not unlock it, then you need to try working with them on it. Apple does not unlock phones.

i am going to buy unlocked iphone 5.. i will be going to india nxt months and will stay there for a while... so my question is will i get warrenty in india.. and will there be any problem with using indian sims..?? thnx for the help..
The warranty for the iPhone is not and has never been International.
Warranty and support are ONLY valid in the country of origin. The only exception is the EU where the entire EU is treated as one country.
If the device will be used in India, buy it in India.
An unlocked iPhone will work on any supported GSM carrier world wide. The LTE portion of a US purchased, unlocked iPhone is unlikely to work outside North America as it does not support the appropriate bands used in other countries. -
I had already update mi new factory unlocked iPhone 4S to iOS 5.1.1 and I still having problems with "invalid sim". I'm from Argentina and here we don't have official service. Was it purchased from an official Apple Store, not a reseller? Only Apple Stores sell official factory unlocked phones. The others sell hacked to unlock phones, and the unlocking is unstable.
Try these steps, as needed:
1. Reset phone - press both home and on/off buttons for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
3. Replace SIM card (and reset network settings again)
4. Restore Phone in iTunes using a backup
5. Restore in iTunes as new, without using a backup -

basically with it being powered off hold the home button while plugging it in and keep holding the home button until it shows the iTunes logo with a chord and it will then let you restore the device in iTunes -

You have asked this question 3 times. Each time the answer being the same. ONLY, the original cellular provider can unlock the phone. However, if the phone has been previously hacked to provide unlocking, the fact that you have updated it has now re locked it. It is possible that it might never be ale to be properly unlocked.

Apart from the lock button problem in iphone 5 the display brightness suddenly goes blank and becomes normal after locking and unlocking the iphone. The Apple service centre in India is denying to service the iphone as it was purchase in USA even though the iphone is in warranty.
iPhones do not have an international warranty. Warranty is valid only for the country of purchase. This is most likely because different countries require different iPhone models. Not reasonable to expect all countries to maintain stock for all models.

New unlock iphone 4's internet problem
I got a new unlocked iphone 4, and use the straight talk unlimited data plain. But my iphone shows my carrier is AT&T, and I coulden't activate cellular data network. I don't know how to get access to 3G internet.
My iPhone 4s suddenly experienced some Internet problem starting from yesterday too. I got my iPhone 4s when it first came out. No issue at all until this happens. My Internet on"4G" (well it's actually 3G but labeled as 4G) is super slow. I can still call and text but I can't receive any messages from iMessage(which uses Internet), apps store just stay loading forever, and a webpage takes like mins to load. But everything work fine once I connected to wifi. I don't know what going on and I would know is it just me or others are experiencing the same thing?

I got my unlocked iphone 4s from Apple store. It works in most of the countries I travel to, but in some it keeps showing a 'Searching' signal! I had to buy a turbo sim for it to work! Is the problem from my 4s or the sim? an why this is happening?
To my best knowledge turbo sim does not hack a phone. I have not used it to unlock the phone, i have already bought it unlocked. Am pretty sure its not an issue with my iphone, I have been using it normally all around the countires I have been to, till i faced the mentioned problem in one country and they fixed it by using a turbo sim. Now that I have left the country, am back to using my 4s without the turbo sim and it's working perfectly fine.
