TS4185 Face time problems

When I try to contact someone on face time, it immediately says "failed".  It never attempts to connect.  Anyone know why this is happening.

Some folks have discovered thatchanging their DNS service fixes FaceTime connection issues. The idealway is to configure your modem/router with DNS service, but oftensettings in System Settings/Wi-Fi on your iPad will override the routersettings.
Try either of these;
OpenDNS
208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
Google Public DNS
8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4

    When I turn on Face Time in my Mac Mini with 10.7.5, it works fine except when I try to put it in landscape mode in the View menu.  The command is there but in non-functional light gray.  I have a Samsung monitor and logitech cam which work fine with Skype.   Is there any way to activate the "landscape" command?

  • Face time problem

    My face time is able to call all my friends threw their face time.
    But when it comes to one of my friends, she can not call me or message me threw face time, she can't call anyone threw face time.
    I can't seem to figure out how to get hers to be able to call me, and this is threw her I pod touch.
    It says: "______  is not available facetime"
    Can someone help?

    Make sure it's enabled in Settings > Phone. It looks like it can be set to off if you migrate from another phone. Also make sure you can send a text message since that appears to be used to authenticate the facetime call.

    Using Face Time call from an iPad2 to my iPhon5 doesn't work.  Apple IDs are different and checked on both Face Time settings. But both the iPad2 and iPhone5 can face time to an iPhone 4s. Why?

    Your pictures are not posting Barrie.. so I cannot see what you are looking at.
    All I see is the file name.

    Try posting the picture again.
    Most of your problem is Mavericks.. and its lousy networking.
    It seems like your TC is working fine.. this is just the standard Mavericks fun and games.
    Let me recommend you do a clean new setup on the TC.

    The key parts
    1. Factory reset to clear the rubbish out.
    2. Link-Local on the ipv6 in the computer.. essential now.
    3. Clean new setup in the TC with new names, that are short no spaces and pure alphanumeric. DO NOT USE THOSE APPLE NAMES.
    So TCgen4 is a good name for your TC.
    TCwifi is a good name for the wifi of your TC.
    4. Manually mount the TC disk in the computer before you start the TM backup.
    In Finder use Go, Connect to server.
    Type in the address, thusly, AFP://TCgen4.local (or whatever the name is.. local is the default domain).
    5. Wipe the settings on TM and point it to the newly named TC.

    I strongly recommend installing the widget.. A1 so you have some idea what the heck is going on with TM.

    When using Facetime, there is one person I call that I can't see them, but I can hear them.  They can see me and hear me.  This doesn't happen with everyone.  Prior to this happening, we did have issues with the video disconnecting and reconnecting.  Help

    When I Login into FaceTime it has the wrong telephone number. How do I fix this?

    There are no charges for FaceTime itself. All you would pay would be any data charges from your carrier that might apply. This of course assumes that the carrier supports using FaceTime over their service; not all do.

  • TS4185 face time icon does not activate app

    when i try to open FT by clicking on its icon - it does  not activate application. I have to reboot the system to start working again and then, after a while it happens again. Any suggestion would be appriciated.

    Settings>General>Restrictions. Check to make sure it wasn't restricted.
    You can also reset the home screen layout and the icon will reappear - but the home screen will return to the way that it looked when you first activated your iPad.
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.

    Hi --- I do NOT have ppl making call requests but I DO have the gray shaded contacts area taking up 1/4 of my iPad3 screen and no kind of swipe up/dn/sideways seems to help.
    Similarly, sometimes I start an email and the system freezes and the email box will not go away unless I shut down. Cancel will not work. Save as draft will not work. Or .... I try to go to "to" and the cursor will NOT move beyond the email composition area.
    Stuff like this makes me question my foray into Apple-world as a presumably true-blue Android user.

    There is a barely acknowledged issue. For Mac users Apple has released an update to the app, but for iOS users the recommendation is for users to update their ipad to the most recent operating system.
    There may be a fix coming for iOS6 users (which seem to be many of those having problems) or there may not be. If your ipad isn't up to date then you can update it and see if that helps, or if you don't want to update then you may want to wait and see if there is either a fix or if it fixes itself.

    A good read. Have you done anything at all to resolve your problem. Reset? Restore?

    This is a scam. Do not phone these people, at best they will charge you for unnecessary 'cleaning' and at worst they will gain access to your Mac and steal your data. You've probably managed to install some 'adware' which is producing this fake warning. 'Adwaremedic' should remove it and is safe to use - please see
