TS4185 FaceTime keeps dropping sound

When using FaceTime on my iMac I lose sound after approx 10 mins, sometimes a lot less.
Does anyone know what may be causing this, my broadband speed is v good and handles video etc well in all other software.

No error message.  It just quits on its own after one minute.

  • Why does Facetime keep dropping my video chats?

My FaceTime calls keep dropping calls/video calls every 2 minutes. I know its not the internet because I can Skype for hours with no problem. I cant figure it out! Why would this happen?

are you using I movie?  There is an output in i movie for you tube that i suppose turns it into whatever format they want.  And how long is it?  T think there is a 10 or 15 min limit on you tube for uploads.  I am thinking that the format from your camera is not what you tune wants to see.  If you can get it into i movie, and send it from there, it converts it into what they want.  I think.  (works for me)

  • AppleTV HomeSharing Movie Sound Keeps Dropping

Starting about a month or so ago, movie files which stream from my Mac to my AppleTV keep dropping sound periodically (every 2-3 minutes, sometimes as short as 10 seconds).  I can pause the movie and then press play and the sound comes back - although sometimes it emits a loud "pop" noise before it drops, but not always.
This only happens on some of my movies, but not all (all are encoded the same way, using Handbrake to rip my DVDs & BluRays).  My setup is AppleTV to Vizio TV with HDMI and Vizio TV to Bose CineMate Series II with optical.
The same movies that are doing this, if I put the movie on a flash drive and plug it straight into the TV play with no issue.
I've done a lot of searching, but can't find any real answers.
So far I've tried rebooting my Mac, rebooting the AppleTV, doing a factory restore on the AppleTV, updating iTunes, and all so far to no luck.  Has anyone had any experience with something like this?

  • Why does the sound on my new iPad keep dropping out

I have done some trouble shouting following a few threads but for some reason the sound on my new iPad keeps dropping out every min or so for afew seconds.  Tried to reboot the router and also reset wifi settings on the iPad. I am also having problems connecting to wifi intermitant as this may be it is frustrating.
Is this a known issue and do apple have a fix?
    Thanks for any help

No not at all if the music is downloaded only when using wifi

  • Why does the sound keep dropping out?

Can someone explain to me in very simple terms how to fix my Airport Express so that it doesn't keep dropping the sound when I'm playing iTunes. About every minute to a minute and a half, the sound drops out for a second or two. It is very annoying. I have checked the communities, but none of the recommended fixes are making any sense to me. One suggested that it was the internet speed, so I actually upgraded my internet yesterday to a faster speed, but I am still running into this issue.
I am using a PC. I am playing iTunes wirelessly. The distance between my router, my computer, and the Airport Express shouldn't be an issue; they are relatively close together. I have had no other issues with my wireless. My Blu-ray player is able to access the internet wirelessly and stream movies with no problem, so I don't understand why I am having such an issue with streaming music.
I love the concept of the Airport Express, but I am ready to take it back to the store for a refund.

Thanks for your reply. Both my AEX and my router are set to the same channel (6). (From what I understand, they need to be set to the same channel for it to run through WiFi, right?) When I run a scan, nothing else in the area is set to that channel, so I don't think there should be any interference.
I went through the rest of the settings, and they all seem to be correct. I'm not sure how to check if it is set as a client only, but it is set for airplay and I didn't set it up to extend the network. I verified that it is set to "join a wireless network," not "extend a wireless network."
The signal I am getting from my router is at 100%, so I thought I'd give it another try after verifying everything. It still drops out. I timed the drop-outs this time, and it is actually happening literally every minute, almost to the second.
I think I might be heading back to the store for a refund later today unless I get some other suggestions on what will fix this issue. If the drop-outs happened every 20 minutes, even every 10 minutes, I could put up with it, but every minute is unacceptable.

  • Dropping sound

    Hi All!
I have tried many times to export an aif from a nested sequence. It’s about 30min long and all of the sound was recorded from one camera. For some reason it keeps dropping out in a few places? Always the same place no matter how I export it? The majority of the 30min is perfect.
When I play the nest in the FCP timeline all sound is there. When I open the nest in FCP all the sound plays there too. Everything seems to be 48Khz 16bit.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Mixdown your audio. This is always the thing do before exporting and outputting to tape.

  • Problems with my new phone (wi-fi, all cell reception keep dropping out)

I recently brought my apple iPhone 3GS (last 2 weeks) and pretty much since day 1 I've the same problem. The phone network I have keeps dropping out for no reason at all, wi-fi connection too (I maintain little or no coverage, but as I've taken the sim card back to the company for inspection, they've said the sim is fine and I shouldnt be having this problem) any ideas on how to resolve this issue???

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
I'm afraid i'm not familiar with mHotspot but it sounds like it's not providing correct DNS settings over DHCP and that you need to enter them manually in the phone. You can do this under Settings -> WiFi -> [tap and hold the network] -> Modify network -> Show advanced options -> IP settings -> Static. But for information on what settings you should use you need to check with the support for mHotspot. I suspect you should either use the DNS from your ISP or enter the IP of the virtual interface created my mHotspot.

Above are the stats.  I have a BT Home Hub 3, the connection keeps dropping.  I have just done a silence sound test but could not hear any noise (i did not get disconnected then though).  I have had BT doing line tests (home visits too) and the broad band people tell me there is a problem with the line.  The line people say its all good.
Any help or advise would be appreciated.   Also who do I call to change latency and/or noise parameters? the usual call centre or is there another phone?
    Many thanks

  • Audio keep dropping

Can anyone help me with output issue. I'm not sure why audio output keep dropping and reset whenever I sang too loud. Is that something to do with CPU overload? or Microphone, Audio Interface problem?
I'm using Mac Air, Alesis io2 interface and legacy Axis6
    many thanks

Thanks guys; I will read further and consider your advice at length. For the moment though, let me add:
Mostly okay with files from my Sony HandyCam AVCHD HDR-CX100 but...
I am getting errors associated with imported avi screen capture clips made with Hypercam 3.0 in the MainConcept AG AVC (Adobe2) DV/H.264 codec Version 7.4.0.46599 (Build 2008-06-11). Its Main Settings include 10 frames per second keyframe every 100 frames AVC Preset: HD 1280x720p Video Format: PAL Baseline Profile Level Auto Picture Type Frame. Initially I had success with that codec and the tool does mention (Adobe2) in its title for that codec.
The sound was captured in uncompressed audio PCM using a Realltek High DEF Microphone. All play fine in WindowsMedia Player. Sometimes sync is lost so that the picture lags the sound by a few seconds. I can sometimes get them into PRE 8 okay but then sometimes not. Persistent attempts eventually work but any disruption by Terminate & Stay Resident (TSR) processes kill the conformed audio and you have to start again. TSR's include Norton's wanting to do a backup, McAfee wanting to install virus signatures, Windows Update showing a notice scheduling a restart, hp wanting to update a driver, etc.
I guess you are in a different timezone to me (could be a good thing) as it is 4:30 am here in Adelaide when it is 10 am in LA or 1 pm in NY or 7pm in Hamburg. Will read your advice ore when I am properly awake :-)

  • IMac Internet Sharing keeps dropping

I have set my iMac to share my internet connection so that I can use my MacBook wherever I am in my halls/dorm.
Since last year the connection between them keeps dropping multiple times per day and I'm left with an exclamation mark on the Airport icon on my MacBook. It sometimes resolved by renewing the DHCP lease on my iMac and sometimes by restarting Airport, but most of the time both fail and if they do work it's never for very long (a few minutes). The only way to get it working properly again is to restart my iMac.
I've also noticed that whenever the connection drops, a new network appears in the Airport menu called "Free Public WiFi". When I looked this up it seems to be an issue with Windows; something I stay well clear of and have never connected to or allowed anyone to connect to my network.
Does anyone know what the issue is and how I could resolve it?

It sounds to me that you are getting interference from a competing wi-fi signal on the same channel/frequency. Unfortunately, that is getting more common as more folks go wi-fi. Which is why in this house we are strictly ethernet, even though one Mac has a 25 meter cable to connect! There are now 7 wi-fi networks among my neighbors. (But ethernet is much faster than wi-fi, and my LAN flies with the new 10 Meg fiber optic service we just had installed! And for less cost than the 4 Meg copper wire ADSL we had from the cable company.)
I would try switching to another channel. I am not familiar with how many you have in the UK to use. It is best if you can get a free channel that has at least one network free channel between you and another signal. So if you know of another network on channel 6, then try to be at least on channel 4, if 5 is also free, or 8, if 7 is also free.

  • AP541N-E-K9 keeps dropping all WLAN connections

I hope someone could shed some light on an issue we have with our AP541N-E-K9 on the latest firmware.
Our issue sounds similar to this thread:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2028334
Our AP541N-E-K9 keeps dropping all WLAN connections and will not allow us to connect via WIFI. I have to switch the unit off and on but even so sometimes it will take 10 mins for the WLAN to accept new connections. Nothing has changed on the network for months as it is a very basic scenario ie Draytek DSL Router -> Cat5e cable -> AP541N-E-K9, thats it! The AP is really only used for guest access and may have about 15 staff connected via WIFI at any one time.
    Thanks

    Hi Alena,
I've changed the access point to use channel 1 which seemed to work for about 5 mins and then all wireless devices have dropped off and the even log keeps showing:

  • Wi-fi keeps dropping on my new HTC DROID DNA

Just got the HTC Droid DNA on launch date. The phone is really good but one nagging thing i noticed was that the wi-fi keeps dropping. My wife got an SG3 and it works just fine along with the Nexus 7, Ipad2, ipod and a pc on the same wi-fi connection.
Also sometimes the wi-fi is connected and the phone doesn't register an internet connection. Too much trouble to keep toggling wi-fi to get it to work. Has anyone else been having the same issue?

I have the same exact problem. There's another thread about this as well:
    https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/788277
We haven't been able to find a fix, but it sounds very similar to the problem they had with the HTC One X back in June:
    http://androidcommunity.com/htc-one-x-wi-fi-problems-confirmed-as-hardware-issue-says-htc-20120618/
Not saying that it is for sure, but with the HTC One X it was ultimately a hardware problem, which means we'd have to turn our brand new phones back in. Very disappointing.
