TS4223 Help getting videos on new nanos!

I tried going through these steps to get the children's tv shows I purchased on nanos. I deleted the shows from my library, unchecked the "download HD version" box in the itunes store, and re-downloaded from the cloud, but all of my tv shows are still HD. What am I missing?

Where is your computer's backup?
Did you lose all important data or just your iTunes library?
The iPod Touch and iPad are not designed or intended to be backup storage devices.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, or iPod, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to re-authorize your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so.
With your iPod Touch connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPod Touch.
Repeat with your iPad.
Next, invest in an external drive to be used for backup puposes only and include your iTunes library with your computer's backup along with all other important data - documents, photos, etc.
It isn't a matter of if but when the same will happen again with Windoze.

  • Need help getting video to play in keynote on new iPad

Successfully imported a video to new iPad ( asa m4p )  it looks and sounds good in photo stream, but when I bring it into Keynote the audio is gone... What's up?  Help please!

    Hi Klaus,
Thank you for the reply. However, that was not the cause.
After a grueling 13 hours yesterday I figured out a way to get the files to work. According to the iDVD site (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/6732.html)"MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 files, QuickTime VR movies, and movies with sprite or Flash tracks cannot be added."
My solution was to convert every single video file through iMovie. I imported the mpgs and exported them into mp4s. I now have sound on computer files and on DVD player.
    How extremely complicated.

I've been using (quite successfully) Videora iPod Converter and it works so well it blew my mind the first time I used it. Of course I'm a bit of a power user, but the normal mode is so handy I can't help but to use it. Not sure if it works on a mac though. I tried to look, but couldn't find anything that explicitly says mac.

  • I NEED HELP getting video on

ok all my videos are i the right format. i put em in a playlist and had itunes set up to add that playlist to ipod when i sync. but whenever i hook it up i ge tthis err saying my ipod cant support this file or some junk like that. but i have an ipod that can support it. its a 30G ipod with video. can anyone help me fix this since it was a christmas present and it would be nice to make it work. and yes i followed that video tutorial. i did exactly as it did and they still wont go on. im goin crazy now cuz i have 31 videos that take up 4G and i want em on my ipod.

You may think they are in the right "Container" format, but the audio and video that is inside the container exceeds the hardware playback for the IPOD:
IPod can play the following video formats:
    H.264 video
File formats: .m4v, .mp4 and .mov
Video: Up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3
Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio
    MPEG-4 video
File formats: .m4v, .mp4 and .mov
Video: Up to 2.5 Mbps, 480 x 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile
Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio
What did you use to convert your video files with? And its okay to mention "Videora". We want you to get your problem solved so you can enjoy your investment.

  • Need help getting video on a mini DVD to my MacBook????

i am trying to find a way to download the video (& audio), which is on a mini DVD in my video camera, to my MacBook. I have my Sony Handycam connected directly to my MacBook...In the past, i have used Diva to get the video on my laptop, but the problem with Diva is that it does not do sound only video... Somebody please help me.........thank you

you have to solve two problems:
never ever put miniDVDs into slot-in drives (as in iMacs or laptops) => buy any external dvd-drive..
    second, conversion of (finalized) DVDs:
    copy/paste:
for using the iLife vers. ≤6 apps, you have to convert'em first, in recommended order, choose one of the following tools/workarounds:
DVDxDV (free trial, 25$, Pro: 90$)
    Apple mpeg2 plugin (19$) + Streamclip (free)
    VisualHub (23.32$)
Drop2DV (free, requires installation of ffmpeg parts, google for it...)
Toast 6/7/8/9 allows converting to dv/insert dvd, hit apple-k
connect a miniDV Camcorder with analogue input to a DVD-player and transfer disk to tape/use as converter
    old apps:
    Cinematize >60$
    Mpeg2Works >25$ + Apple plug-in

  • Need help getting music onto new computer.

I was curious if anyone knows how to get music from my 60 GB 5th Gen iPod onto my new computer. My old computer crashed, so all that I have is my music on my iPod, and I need to find a way to get my music onto my new PC. I figured I could just plug it into my new computer and that i'd be good to go, but apparently I was wrong. I've researched it a bit and all that I can find is confusing software that is going to cost me more money. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
60 GB 5th Gen   Windows XP

You can't sync or drag your non iTMS music back directly from an iPod to iTunes. The transfer of non iTMS content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod, the transfer of purchased content has recently been introduced with iTunes 7. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. As iTunes 7 is just out some of these may not have caught up with it yet though I haven't experienced any problems with the Mac software I use.
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    iGadget Windows Only
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    PodPlayer Windows Only
    CopyPod Windows Only
For more on the new function in iTunes 7 look under under File>"Transfer Purchases from iPod" which transfers iTMS purchases. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your computer and an empty iTunes. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No* (or "Cancel" if you are using iTunes 7). Pressing "Yes" (or Erase and Sync in iTunes 7) will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. In iTunes 7 Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Don't uncheck Sync Music it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for quite a small outlay.

  • Computer crashed!!! need help getting music to new computer!

My computer crashed. I bought a new one with Vista and now I am having problems transferring my music to my new computer. my problem is i had the ipod set to automatically update. Any suggestions on how to get around this.

If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • Need Help Getting Started with New iPod

I already had an 8g iPod, however, I just purchased a 64 on Amazon ... it was new but open box.  I hooked it into my computer and the only thing that shows on the screen is the power chord pointing up to iTunes.
I have reinstalled iTunes, but my system will not recognize this iPod, nor can I get to any other screens on the iPod.
Can someone please provide some direction?
    Thanks much!

  • Help converting video to new

Hi, i've been trying to convert videos to my zen with over 0 programs,
and only one worked...sorta. And it the the creative zen video converter,
but it would only work if i chopped off the sides of the video, or have very, very small viewing.
    Some of the ap
    ps.
i've used are super, slysoft, daniusoft, blaze, avs.
If anyone knows anymore converters, that are free,
and allow custom output settings to use like super please let me know.
Also if im simply using the wrong settings please let me know also.

i have xillsoft video converter 3 (full) which is good as you can set all the parameters manually, however i've found that the creative vid converter is the best (and you can set the quality as well) - the only prob with it came when converting .flv's (off youtube) to a standard wmv using youtube downloader then to wmv using the creative video converter - i got severe quality loss but im working on it..
have you experimented with different file types? i stick to wmv for compatibility but i lifted this from a review on the zen:
"The player's codec supports DivX4/5, XviD5, MPEG-/2/4SP, and WMV9 as well as Motion-JPEG. (if they are below 720x576)"
try playing around with it, just keep the bitrate below 786. If youre ripping dvds, use **illegal software** and select "*.wmv general pocket pc" as the output type - works a treat

well the question was a little confusing, is the ** on your computer or your ipod? but if its on your itunes and u want to get it off try right clicking the movie and go to delete or remove, and if its on your ipod (if you updated it) you have to check the box to manually update your ipod, if not the you can just right click your movie and remove it
