TS4223 Putting HD Videos on to Ipod touch

it's my understanding that any Ipod touch 4th generation and above can play HD TV shows and Movies.
But what i don't understand is why when I own an Ipod touch generation 4 and I downloaded a HD TV show, but i
still received the message saying I can't put it on my ipod. If Ipod touch 4th generations can play HD then why wont mine play it?

HD is not just one type of video file. There is a 720p version and a 1080p version. I ahve a ist generation iPad and I can only put 720p movies on it not 1080p
If you downloaded form itunes then you need to go into preferences, Store
Select from the drop box When Downloading High Definition Videos, prefer 720p
Click OK
Then go to itunes store. Click on the Purchased link under Quick links on the right
Select TV Shows and find the TV Show you want. It will have a cloud icon by the side of it just click on that and it will download the 720p version at no extra cost
Then when you choose to sync your Iphone will automatically get the 720p version rather than the 1080p version which does not work.
You do not need to delete the 1080p version as itunes manages both side by side and only syncs the version your device can handle.

You must be using video files which have audio track muxed with the video. Try running it through a convertor before importing to iTunes:

did you already add the movie to your iTunes library and does is play in iTunes ?
if so, in iTunes, click on the file once to highlight it and, from the advanced menu, choose +create iPod or iPhone version+. try syncing the newly created file to your Touch.

You'll have to add this movie to the iTunes library and it has to be converted into a supported format for the iPod.
There is an option for that in the Advanced menu in iTunes.
If you can't convert in iTunes, you'll have to look for 3rd party software doing this for you.

I have updated my 4th gen iPod touch to the most recent iOS, 6.1.2. I want to put videos in it. I have already converted my videos to the appropriate format and put them in iTunes. I would try placing the movies in the iTunes movie library and then using the Create iPod and iPhone Version in the advanced tab of iTunes. It is likely that the format is not compatible with the iPod. There are many variations in the mp4 format and all are not compatible the iPod.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

We are evaluating the use of iPod touch devices to record best practice videos on our manufacturing floor and to post to an internal Moodle web site. How can you upload a video from the iPod touch to a site other than YouTube? The Moodle upload interface is expecting a file selection dialog box like windows or OSX. I do not want to have to go through an intermediary step of messing with a pc.

It should be around 7 and a half gigs. In iTunes, across the bottom there should be a bar that show how much storage is being used and by what. (music, movies, apps, etc.) To make music take up less room, you can check the box to make it convert the music to 128kbps AAC. This lowers the quality, but with most earbuds and speakers, you can't even tell the difference.
The iPod touch has parental controls built in. You'll find them in Settings. I think they only work for enabling/disabling Safari, Mail, YouTube, and App Store. Here's an app that does more: http://www.mobicip.com/online_safety/ipod_touch

So, the only way to watch home video in ipod touch is via itunes? Because in fact i'm trying to use my ipod touch as a video monitor for my DSLR camera while i use it for filming. Apps and many other purchases are tied to the iTunes Store account via which they were purchased. So if you buy the app, that app is tied to your iTunes Store account. Without that account information, the child could not update the app nor back it up.
I'd also suggest giving the child an iTunes gift card or gift certificate along with the iPod. If the child is too young to have and manage his or her own iTunes Store account, then his or her parent could set up an iTunes Store account to purchase the apps. That could be done with that gift card and not need a credit card. You can also gift specific apps, though again that would require the child or a parent to open an iTunes Store account through which to redeem the gift. For more information on gift options, see:

Need to get all the files, well music and video, from my ipod touch 5th gen to my itunes libary.

Need to get all the files, (well music and video), from my ipod touch 5th gen to my itunes libary. (So basically sync the other way to normal)
Laptop hard drive broke so had to buy a new one and obviously now need to sort out my itunes.
Did try downloading all my purchased stuff onto itunes but it has missed some things off, and there are some files I did not purchase from itunes so need a way of getting them back on there.
Sure this question has been asked a million times but can't find anything to help me on here so thought I'd ask.
-Did have a look at going onto the start menu and opening the hidden items thing but couldn't see any reference to ipod or device on it so wasn't sure how to do it that way.
-On itunes under my device when its connected, the section about manually restoring and backing up, would that help me? Because that says it will manually back up my ipod to my computer then could restore that back up, obviously I don't want to accidnetally get rid of everything on my ipod so didn't want to try that just in case without checking.
(And yes I have disabled auto sync to device when conncected!)
Can anyone help me please? Sorry if i've overcomplicated this!

Backing up an iOS device will copy some data to a backup file within iTunes, but this excludes all media. You can also transfer iTunes Store purchases from the iDevice to iTunes but, without using a third-party tool, nothing else. As long as you do not sync the iPod with your new library, the media that's on it will remain ... for as long as it keeps functioning, is not lost, stolen, eaten by the dog, ...
You may also have an option to recover your previous library from your old laptop; as long as its hard drive isn't fried, a computer repair store or technician may be able to extract the drive, mount it in an external enclosure, and copy your data to another PC. Whatever you choose, there is no real alternative to having all your media on your computer, managed by iTunes, and regularly backed up to another device/location.
