I am also having the same problem. I purchased the iphone 5s (Unlocked) from kuwait. I can use the facetime in my zain sim (kuwait sim) when i change the sim in srilanka (Carrier Dialog) the face time app completely disappears. but in roaming for kuwait sim it works perfectly. before i have purchased iphone 4s from kuwait and it has facetime even in srilanka(carrier Dialog).
Is there any issue with the apple software for 5s? becoz till today no one is able to answer this query?
I hopefully expect a solid answer here....

If the screen shows a plug going to itunes, then you have no choice, It's in recovery mode. You'll be given the chance to restore from a backup either from itunes or icloud.
I assume when you got the message to update (was this for the ios or update some apps?), that was before the device when dead. At any rate, doing a restore does not change the ios.

In the iPhone backup. Right click on the phone in iTunes and choose "Restore from Backup".

Contact your wireless carrier as VoiceMail is a feature they provide.
If you changed providers and that is why you changed sims, your old
voice mail is with your old wireless service and probably unrecoverable.
If you did not change wireless service, their help line should be able

How do I use my Verizon iPhone 4s on Net10 if my phone is compatible but it tells me the sim card I installed is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy?

i Traded my friend my galaxy for her iPhone and checked the compatibility for Net10 online. Yes, I know. But at one point in activating FaceTime or iMessage you will need to be able to send a text message. If you can't, there will be no activation.
Check your device settings
Make sure that you’re connected to a cellular data or Wi-Fi network. If you're using an iPhone, you'll need SMS messaging to activate your phone number with iMessage and FaceTime. Depending on your carrier, you might be charged for this SMS.

"India" is a country. Not a cellular carrier.
There are 2 supported carriers in India. Aircel and Aritel. See this list: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937
If you have a legitimately unlocked iPhone, it will work with a properly provisioned SIM from either Aircel or Airtel.
It may work with other carriers in India, but not all features may work as expected.

Your iPhone was almost certainly jailbroken to unlock it from the original carrier. Restoring the iPhone has now removed that jailbreak and the iPhone has relocked back to the original carrier. Only that carrier can authorize an official, permanent unlock, so you will need to contact that original carrier and ask if you would qualify for unlocking.

My Contracted SIM is for an android phone, but when i put the sim in an iphone my 3g no longer works?.. Is it because my 3g is only active on the android os and not the ios platform? Texts, Calls and Wifi work fine but the 3g doesn't work. My phone only shows 'GPRS' in the top left corner. Also I get a message come up saying "Could not activate mobile data network. You are not subscribed to a mobile data service".
Any advice would be great.

Hi hexonxonx, I'm on o2. Thanks for your advice. You are right. All I had to do was change one of my APN settings to mobile.o2.co.uk and reboot my phone and this sorted it out straight away! Thanks again. Much appreciated . I was thinking I was going to have to go back to an android phone to use my 3g again but this eliminated that need. Thanks.
