How can I remove a mobile phone number from Settings>Messages>Send & Receive?

Deactivate iMessage on both devices.
Sounds like iMessage for your ID was initially activated on her device.
Then sign in with the correct ID on your device and activate iMessage, it should like to your number. If it does, repeat with her ID on her device and confirm everything is as desired.

This will reset your iMesasge too.
I've tried all other methods and this is the only way that works.

I have an old iphone 3GS that has been upgraded to IOS5 and I am letting my son use. He is loving the iMessage, however there is one problem - the phone number that used to be associated with that 3GS is still associated with the iMessage settings and so whenever I iMessage my wife at that phone number (or anyone else for that matter), he also gets the message.
I have added in his email in the "You can be reached for messages at:" settings option, but I cannot delete the phone number. Any idea how I can get the phone number removed from the iMessage settings? I want him to be able to send / receive iMessages via his email address - not the phone number that belongs to my wife.
I did try removing the sim from the phone, but that didn't work.

How can I remove my old phone number from my iPhone?

I want to sell my old iPhone 5 (Sprint), and I want to get everything off of it. Obviously I'd restore it and remove everything first, but how do I get the 'My number' to change from my current phone number (which was ported to T Mobile and is with a newer phone now) to something else/removed? I remember I had the same problem a few years ago with an android phone, and I kept getting texts from my number on it (both phones at the same time), I obviously don't want something like this to happen again, especially if I sell it.

If you have completed the info for a contact there will be additional spaces for more phone numbers. If you have not added a number yet, simply tap the word to the left of the blank phone number space to change the category.

I've searched and can't find this exact problem in any other thread. How do I change the iMessage phone nubmer on my iPad. It is NOT the same as my iTunes phone number.
My wife and I share an AppleID. When I updated my iPad to iOS6 her phone number became my iMessage phone number. Now, I get all her iMessages between her and her contacts and not my own. The email is still my iTunes account email.

If you go to General>Messages>ReceiveAt and then add an additional Apple ID, if you dont have an other Apple ID, you will have to create a new one. Also, if you dont want to receive your current messages, you can remove the number/Apple ID, but only if you have 2 or more Receiving accounts. (including your current) If you dont want to use iMessage at all, just simply switch iMessage from "On" to "Off"

Can someone please help me to remove an iphone telephone number from my imessage application. I no longer have a phone which I registered on my apple ID as a second phone. I have been on my apple ID and it does not seem to be there but cannot remove it from imessage, which still has it as an option to connect to. I am concerned that someone else who inherite this old phone will see my messages if I accidentally enable it again. Neddless to say that you need a modem. And the modem's user or programmer's guide.
Most modems have the same command structure, however, there might be some nuances depending on the manufacturer and the model, hopefully taken care by the driver. Oh yeah.. You'll need the driver.
I remember reading some posts and possibly some examples somewhere in this forum. I'm sure a search will reveal a lot of information.
