TS4268 My iMessages to 1 contact have changed to regular texts

I have one contact that  until yesterday I sent iMessages to and now they are texts. He has an iPhone and is able to send iMessages to me. But my iMessages weren't going through a couple times (like 2 or 3) so I sent them as texts and now his contact is green in my phone and it only lets me send texts instead of iMessages. This is the 2nd contact this has happened to. Idk how to fix it! I've tried turning iMessages off and on in the settings and resetting my phone but that didn't help.
Anybody has this problem and/or know how to fix it?? My running system is up to date.

The problem is on your contact's phone, not yours.    They should deactivate, then reactivate iMessage.

Something doesn't make any sense here, because iMessage ONLY works between you and anyone using an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5, you couldn't iMessage someone that DIDN'T meet those requirements, if you wanted to. Are you positive this contact does not meet the requirements to iMessage?

  • All my Contacts have changed!

Two days ago, suddenly, my iPhone Messages no longer had names as headers, just phone numbers. Now I find that all my iPhone Contacts have changed! I used to have more than 1100, and now I'm down to 108, and the folks who used to Message me most are no longer in my contacts!
My full Contact list is still on my Mac, but it no longer syncs with my iPhone! I have no idea how to make the iPhone see my Mac Contacts.
    Help!

If you previous set up the FIndMyiPod feature via Settings>Mail>MobileMe
and the iPod is on wifi and connected, go to iCloud, sign in, and go to FindMyiPhone. There you can wipe the iPod and find its general location. It the iPod has been restored it will never show up.

  • My friend has an iPhone but doesn't use iMessage. How can I send her regular texts with the new iOS 7 update?

My friend has an iPhone but doesn't use iMessage. How can I send her regular texts with the new iOS 7 update?

That's because her phone is recognized in the Apple database as an iPhone.  It should eventually convert to SMS but that's above my level of expertise here so hopefully someone else can come along and help you further.  She could just turn on iMessage and solve the problem. Ha!
    Good luck!

  • Google contact sync keeps thinking 25% of contacts have changed

    Hi --
I'm trying to configure my fiance's Macbook Air to sync her contacts with Google and keep getting messages about an unexpectedly large number of contacts being changed. To debug this, I've migrated the address book by hand, and am still getting there error.
Note that the Mac contacts are currently also synching with MobileMe.
Here is how I reproduced the weird behavior:
    1. Backup all contacts from both Address Book and Google contacts.
    2. Export all Address Book contacts to a group vcard file.
    3. Delete all contacts from Google contacts.
    4. Import the vcard file from step 2 into Google contacts.
    5. Configure Address Book to sync with Google contacts.
    6. Select Sync Now from the sync menu.
After a few minutes, a dialog box pops up saying that this sync operation with Google will change more than 25% of my contacts. By my reasoning, there should be no changes since I just uploaded the identical address book by hand. Am I doing something obviously wrong here?
    Thanks!

  • TS4268 One of my contacts had an IPhone and we iMessage successful but now he switched to an android and now he can't receive my messages. He still has an iPod that receives them. How can I get my text changed to regular text instead iMessage? Thanks

One of my contacts had an iPhone and we iMessage fine. Now he switched to a samsung galaxy note III and I need to switch his contact from iMessage so he can receive my text. He still has an iPod so iMessage still works for that but will that be effected by changing for android? How do I make the change? Thanks

It isn't your issue, it is his. He needs to make sure he has turned of iMessage and removed his number from the iMessage database. If he does not still have the device, he needs to contact Apple Care to take care of it.

  • Ever since updating my iphone to IOS6, my imessages are no longer working, its all regular text messages.  is this something that has changed with the new update?

I can't figure out why my iMessages have stopped working since I updated my OS.  Is this an effect of the new update? Thanks for any insight!

What 4.0.1 changes is the display of signal strength, which was much too optimistic in earlier versions of iOS. The actual signal strength has not changed, nor will it ever by a software update.
You cannot compare signal strength by how many bars are drawn. This is an interpretation of actual signal strength (which is expressed in deciBells) by the software. This software can change between revisions of software on the same device and most definitely is different between devices of different manufacturers.

  • I have a contact that changed from iPhone to Android, but my iPhone cannot recognize the switch and continues sending texts as iMessage.

I have an iPhone and one of my contacts switched from iPhone to Galaxy phones. But now when I text them, my messages continue sending as iMessage, even though they do not have the iMessage feature anymore. The only way my texts are sending is when I turn the iMessage feature completely off on my phone. I tried holding the individual iMessage texts down and clicking the "send as text" option but then my messages aren't delivering, I deleted and re-added the number, and restarted my phone. How do I make my phone recognize it's not an iPhone anymore?

It's not something you need to fix. The other person needs to deregister their number from iMessage: http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203042

  • Problems with iMessage and Contacts after changing Apple ID

I went in on my computer to change my primary e-mail for Apple and it prompted me to change my password. After I changed the e-mail and the password, my iMessage stopped working on my computer and my iPhone. On the computer, iMessage now works through my iCloud e-mail only. I really wish it would go back to working through my cell phone number. Additionally, now all my contacts have been deleted, on the computer and the iPhone. Is there any way I can get iMessage to work through my cell phoone number on my computer again and get my contacts back on either device?

Well did you change the apple id in imessage?
settings - message - add your new id and delete the old id.
Or turn off imessage and then back on to reactivate with your new id.

  • IMessage not working with ONE contact after changing phone number

Ok.. I changed my phone number Friday night. (same device) Once I restarted my phone and programmed it (*228) everything was working fine except one contact with iMessage. Since Friday night just one contact will only go through as SMS message. My other imessage users are all going back and forth as blue. This person I am having the problem with is also sending and receiving imessages with other contacts, just to me it is going through as text as well. Any help? I've shut iMessage off and on a bunch of times, turned the phone on and off... nothing seems to be working.. Any advice would be great!

I have the same trouble with one of my contacts and I have been using my iPhone 4S and iPad (3rd generation) for a while. I hope we can get a solution.
